I just bought one 2 weeks ago. It is very underrated and is excellent. The analog buttons are a weak spot, but very good build quality and fantastic screen. I suppose you could argue it doesn't do enough to stand out from the rest, but I personally think it competes well in the budget category.

I’ve reviewed a few of these. Never seen one perform this poorly. This is one of my favorite handhelds and I have 3 with 3 different OS builds. I would intentionally have to make any one of them play like this.

You should check out Pixels review of the latest retrokat build if you want real laughs. There's a moment where Pixel is going off about "all the duplicate roms" but if you watch the list behind him, its super clean. Like wtf???? He's just sloppy and going fast to get views instead of actually digging in to what he reviews.

I have one and it's a great device for the money. I ditched the supplied SD card and built my own, so no issues with hacks or duplicates. On harder to run stuff you need to put the switch in performance mode. It's been my daily driver for about a month and I have no real complaints about it.

I'm kinda surprised that none of these emulation handhelds haven't tried to get companies to make new games just for their handhelds. If there to the point of running Saturn and PSP on them. Why not try making a library of their own games and try filling the void left behind by Nintendo and Sony.

PSP appeared to be running in 4x resolution. Not saying setting it to native resolution would fix it, but I’d at least try it.

I bought one of these a couple of months ago and absolutely love it. Regarding Wave Race: there's an issue with the rom they supply. I manged to source an alternate that works fine.

Cant even do psp at native at full speed. I expect better from you pride. Also the vast vast majority of people dont have the time to figure out how to download the correct version if a retail game and put it on portmaster. Thats why the people moaning about "omg it has a borderline unplayable due to the size version if balatro on a card make me laugh since they probably pirated the gane anyway.

It's $40 though?! Well at least from Aliexpress, what's being reviewed here is the overinflated $100 version from a company trying to cash in on a great new OS with lacklustre added content... Sure alot of folks won't have time or want to add their own stuff but at lest if you are charging over double the price take the time to make it right for those folks

It's 1gb ram for $94 on Amazon. What do you expect. If it was 16 gb ram then I would say it runs crappy. But I've learned that you're not going to get the best quality with low Ram power and it is costing cheap. You get what you pay for. I get the ASUS Rog Ally X and I haven't had any problems. it is Expensive, But it's worth the money not having to deal with anything. Everything runs perfectly.

Honestly just better off building your own Crossmix OS with a decent quality microsd card. Trimui Smart Pro is underrated. Just need a little time to refine it. Don't forget pressing the X button on some systems to give you other Emulator options- handy for N64 games that don't run well on the stock emulator.

If the company who sells this product just put the emulators and games that can operate normally and property, than it would be acceptable. Just include more games that will play, and then it will sell better.

They play fine in here. Ridge racer plays great at 2X but obviously not well on 3X or whatever upscaling was done here. It’s funny I played wavers e when I reviewed this and it was defiantly not perfect but it sure didn’t look like this.

I just played through Chains of Olympus PSP on this thing. With these tweaks you get a solid 30 fps: vulcan performance mode, emulate psp clock at 333 Mhz, 1x resolution. It does run a little hot after extended play, but for less than 50 bucks this is the best deal in retro gaming handhelds at the moment. PS: I bought one without an sd card because these are ALWAYS from a crap brand or fake, and loaded with a crap rom collection. Make your own.

This is one of the best handhelds out there in this price range. Cross-mixOS makes it an even better experience. I did this same review but I actually use the handhelds I review and can confirm this is a must get. This looks like it has a similar ROM library to the library that came on mine which is one of the best libraries I’ve seen come pre-installed in a while. It would be nice to see you actually used these for a bit before you review them like you used to. This is a very misleading review and as someone who does reviews this to me just shows you don’t care. I’d imagine you still know how to not play a psp game at 3X resolution when it’s running slow. Ride Racer runs great at 2x on this. Is this the best handheld on the market… not at all but I’ve never seen a novice to this hobby struggle like you are. I hope you keep to doing reviews on random crap you find online because that seems to be your sweet spot.

This handheld is not capable of 2x psp gameplay. Not happening. Cant even run most psp at 1x native at full speed.

I think you're missing the point here. The item being sold has been modified by a shop to apparently improve on the Trimui smart pro experience and they are charging more money for that privilege. I totally agree with this review. They have not made the product any different, only the user experience and if they can't get that right by not curating the snes ROMs down, making sure wave race plays and psp settings aren't ramped up to 3x just to make them look pretty then they are selling an item most likely aimed at novice users that's not up to scratch. If you buy from Trimui or aliexpress without Crossmix then sure we can tinker to our hearts content and that's the experience I wanted and got when I bought mine direct and not from a company trying to profiteer in a crappy manner. At least this guy has the balls to call it out and not be woke about the situation

This build is supposed to be swtup already. Thats why you are paying the money. But the hardware cant do psp at full speed native.

@ryecatcher25 It's not about the build. It's the combination of soc, the os that the build is based on, and emulator optimizations for the chipset. For example, specifically referring to WaveRace, selecting Mupen64Plus Rice will not show graphical artifacts. For psp side, there are options to use Vulkan drivers which can help. PsP is a bonus on here, but it can be better than what many have been thinking.

I've got one with crossmix I can run f-zero N64 no probs, plus ridge racer no probs, gotta use the right emulator by pressing the x button first to select the right one. Slightly disappointed the review doesn't get it right! I only have trouble with motorstorm arctic edge. Also if they have used CHD compressed roms for psp that can make a lot of difference (outrun coast to coast CHD doesn't work well but the iso version runs at 2x resolution) .

We really need people to release images fornthese handhelds like they did for raspberry pi 3. So many great images to download and check out. But selection is so limitesld with even popular handhelds like the rg35xx line. Only one image on arcade punks and i dont think its that great.
