Awesome video! I am thinking of trying to do the reverse and was looking for the full pinout of all 6 pins on the fans. I know which ones are RGB now, but what about the 3 that you cut? I think you mentioned in another comment that two of them are fan control, but is there any chance you can provide a full pinout for all 6 of those pins? I'm wondering if I can split a fan into both a 3-pin RGB connector and a 2/3 pin fan connector. Thanks!

Hello. I have an ENERMAX SABERAY PC case. I have fans bought in China with the controller put in the description. My case has a HUB that does RGB and rheobus controllable by the case. I would like to be able to connect my fans to the HUB. Do you know if this type of fan can be connected to a 4 pin RGB port. As I don't have a precise indication I wouldn't want to plug in is damaged the controller.
@phreakwars
@phreakwars 3 года назад
No, the 4 pin type are 12 volt, plugging them into that will destroy the controller, or worse yet, destroy your motherboard.
@nano-xd8528
@nano-xd8528 3 года назад
@@phreakwars A replacement controller is very expensive, I know something about it, my original circuit broke down. I don't want to buy another controller. Under my eyes on the fan I see 4 wires for the RGB and 2 wires for the fan. At first I thought the fan was for RGB in 5 and 12 v. I had thought of buying a 5v to 12v deepcool RGB converter but I have doubts that the converter communicates with the HUB.

Seems a lot of work. But how is the fan speed controlled or is it? I just bought a Musetex 903 PC case, which came with 6 fans (w 6 pin connectors) and a hub, but no way to control the fan speed that I have figured out yet, just the RGB. In contact with the supplier but no resolution yet. Any ideas?
@phreakwars
@phreakwars 3 года назад
Fan speed control will depend on the type of RGB control box you use. Some of the cheaper stuff does not have fan control as an option. The ones that do have fan control typically only have 3 settings. Low, high and off.

Thank you for making this video! Sorry if I'm a little slow, but how would I do this for similar 6pin RGB fans in combination with a Seasonic Synchro Connect? I got this case cheap and I have to make this work because as I'm sure you can agree, cheap is the only way to go :D

@@HazewinDog I guess first explain what you are trying to do? It sounds like you are wanting to connect the syncro connect to your motherboard, and then control the 6 pin fans in software. Would love to help, but I'd have to see what you have going on up close, can't really give you an assessment just going by what you're saying. From the sounds of it, you might have a bad control box. The 12v that runs the fans is separate from the 5 volts for the RGB. This split off in voltage and function is handled inside the control box. If the fans are not spinning, then the 12v link for that chain is defective for some reason.

Don't do that, you'll burn out the rgb, or worse, destroy the board. The 4 pin on the board is 12v, this hack is for 5v type rgb. Little hammered ATM, I'll try to remember this question and answer a little more sober later on and help you out.

I have a rainbow 5 pin box for RGB, the fans on the case plug into the controller no issue, but only LED they just light up, fans don't spin making them useless, which is a shame because I have 4 case fans that I could be utilising

Wait you created a 6 pin adapter for a 3 pin adapter so you could connect ur ram rgb thingies as well to the main box, right? But if i aint mistaken those ram thingies also have 4 pin (3 pins iirc actually. Btw just to mention that there are sum chinese brands that give those rgb things with 3 sections of cables, the ones uve shown, and theres another one that looks that it got 4 pins but theres actually 3, perhaps youll get what i tryna say. As far as ive seen yours doesnt have that connection i think...) so you can connect them to the rgb tires section of the main box and make the rgb work as well, isnt that correct? Or the connections work different? Interesting video btw, this electronics knowledge is gold for me, thanks

4 pin will be either 12v plain RGB but sometimes it's a call back lead. All I'm showing in the video is the pin out for the 6 pin to make it 3 pin, the 2 extra wires I clip, are 12v+,12v-, and feedback. The connector I end up with is just the hacked version of the exact same connect you can find here: www.aliexpress.com/w/wholesale-6pin-to-5V-ARGB-3PIN.html which you could absolutely buy as well if you don't mind waiting a couple weeks for them to arrive from China. And yes, they have the 4 pin version as well (which I did not show in this video). ae01.alicdn.com/kf/He5889908a6a2429397faa76ee7188eefU.jpg

@@liliaruiz4245 Yes, these 6 pin controllers are almost all the same. The only real difference I have ever seen, is sometimes they will have a proprietary 6 pin connector, but the pinout is always the same.

Great! Can i daisy-chain a 3-1 splitter on a hub from another 3-1 splitter? This hub has many ports, but there are some more with one port (pccoler for ex) and you must use a splitter, so i was wondering if a buy that one, and daisy chain splitter can i sync strips, combs and other 5V rgb stuff.
@phreakwars
@phreakwars 4 года назад
Yes, but I have no idea what the limitations are on how many rgb devices you can use on the chain without overloading it. At a guess I'd say 10 since that's how many fans the controller usually will take.
