I'm currently working on a hummingbird bird bath and it's all thanks to you! I've been watching your videos for a while and your solar fountain inspired me. Howdy Robbie, just reviewed your site where you made a bird bath; &noticed you having a soldering iron rolling on your table, consider having Gary make a stand for it from an old/discarded wire coat hanger shaped like a medium size "pigtail " or medium sized corkscrew. My thought as a Safety tool stand for you. Keep up your great show!!!

That is Amazing! Alot of people say the water runs out, of that solar fountain, but with this, it runs back into the bowl..WOOO HOOO!!

I'm on my third solar pump!! So glad I found you. Someone gave me a nice soldering rod with an on/off switch. I'm just going around looking for stuff to poke holes in :). Nice Cutco knife by the way... ;)

Delightful! You could also use one of those cheap salad bowls with a Snap-On lid for storing/serving salad.

I have 3 solar fountains for the hummingbirds thanks to you! The cheap Walmart 4 for $1 plate and the Dollar Store Chip and Dip fountains are working great! Then I saw the cookie tray/oil pan fountain that someone made and used a cafeteria tray for a similar water feature. The solar panel runs a manifold of 3 drippers and 2 streams of water easy peasy! Wish I could send you a picture. Just got them up and running and have not noticed any hummingbirds enjoying them YET, but the goldfinches have been using all three so I am feeling successful. I was a little concerned about how to clean the fountains because I have rather large reservoirs under the C&D and the Tray. I just discovered I could empty and clean them easily with the shop vac! How often do you clean the water in your fountains? My last water feature is a mister which I am not sure a solar panel has enough pressure for. I have hooked it up to a hose and a timer and am wondering what time of day to set the timer for? Have you noticed any special time of the day that the hummingbirds like to bathe? I am only using one mister out of 20 in the kit I bought. I would gladly send you a mister if you would like to play with it? It has a super fine, low pressure spray .

Last year I ordered a solar fountain, bought a TALL v shape flower pot, turned upside down and then a round flower pot to set on top, added water and stones, put in the sun, woohoo, water fountain. Used the same sprayer you used, love the sound it makes. Wanted an idea for front, you solved it. Thankyou for sharing, Great tutorial :)

Hi Robbie! I just discovered your channel about 10 minutes ago. And believe it or not, as I was watching this video I heard a bang on my living room window and thought to myself oh my gosh what bird just flew into my window! So I pressed pause, put down my iPad and went out on my front porch to check. Low and behold, what kind of bird do you think I saw? It was a little hummingbird and it was laying on its side on my porch with one wing flapping. As I reached down to pick it up and try to help it hopefully recover from its shock, thankfully it rose up on its own and flew away. Bless his little heart! 🌺

That's a very cute idea! Adding the rocks is a good idea for the hummers but also for the bees. I have bees getting in my bird bath and noticed they were drowning 😢😢 so I added rocks to help them cling on.

I'm doing this with a plastic flower pot that I got at a flower store that has pretty hummingbirds painted on it. It doesn't have a hole in the bottom so it will be great to hold the water. The tip of a hot glue gun works to melt holes too. Thanks!

I bought the Hummingbird feeder at Walmart yesterday. Their price was $5.97. They did not have many left. I got one Hummer an hour later. I hope more will come. Thank you.

Great presentation of humingbird feeders and watering holes . $ Dollar Tree $ sells plastic bowels where a plastic Dixie plate would fit down in the bowl . I'm going to go buy inexpensive bowls . A metal bowl seems like it would get hot and the water would as well . Also using large red clay saucers would be effective too . Wouldn't have to worry about them being tossed by the wind . I'll work on this and email some pictures . Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing your joy of taking care of our Creators feathered friends . I also saw another humingbird U-tube demonstration of an ant guard . Ants won't cross water . Use your imagination . It's simple logic . A willingness to excel in "creative ideas" that are easy to do and get the job done . You done good mame .

Cool! I have found that when i have an oscillating sprinkler on my hummers fly through the sprinklers over and over....i often wondered why they never went into my normal big bird bath, kinda thinking it was too deep and intimidating for them...great video!

What a great idea!! I have some squatty popcorn tins that I will try to use of this by turning the lid upside-down after drilling some holes. I can't wait to watch the birds bathing in it. A wooden circle would also work for the top :)

I'd suggest putting some gravel in the bottom. Not only will it hold the plate down but it can act as a bit of a filter for the water

Hi Robbie im Linda Simpson and I live in Hemet California . I have hummingbirds and I feed him but I have one bird that just tears up all my other birds and I have the feeders 8 feet away from the one feeder that he thinks he owns everything. I'm so excited about your videos and learning about hummingbirds. I'd like to learn how to train a hummingbirds to come and sit on me. I love this water feature that you just showed how to make. how long does solar panels last? and how often do I change the water I just want to know because I don't know anything about my hummingbirds. I was wondering if you live in California. I live in Riverside County do you have classes at your house? Do people come and visit you and and see your garden and your hummingbirds do you do that for the public. Im so truly excited about my life. Thank u for sharing this is so cute. I was convinced a year ago--the pum-pum-pum!---covid hits & i couldnt get the solar pump kit! So i waited--all winter with visions of fountains & baths & birds happily drinking. I found them online again with a near delivery date, crossed my fingers & ordered. Two days ago, i was at a local thrift store & looked hi & low for things to make my "water feature" out of.--Couldnt find anything--they had just done a major housecleaning & gotten rid of all the "good junk"--u know--the kitzchy stuff. So i exited the thrift & went into the Dollar General store RIGHT next door! There i found cheap bowls & plates that wouldnt make me feel like i was destroying American history by putting a holein them. Today--my solar pump kit came!---i was SO EXCITED!!!--then i spent most of the day looking back thru Robbie's vids for instructions on how to make them again???? Glad i did too!!!---woulda made some errors in proceeding without checking back. Now i have 2 ?s. 1--how long will a medium sized bowl of water last in Amarillo? ---and--2--is it advisable--to keep debris & crud outta the pump--to put something over it--like pantyhose or other fine netting--say maybe tulle? The wind blows lots of stuff around & up into the air here. I dont want my pump to clog with it all. Or would the covering not allow ample water flow into the pump?

If someone would want a higher spray of water that could be seen from a little distance they could use a larger diameter water container. Perhaps a shallow tub ? Then use your same plate idea but glued to a piece of foam so it floats. Of course then you would need an anchor to keep it in the middle. Otherwise a breeze will blow it too close to the edge and the water would go outside of the container. With something like that you could also keep a couple of small fish in the container . And maybe a water lily also . Oh oh , now you have a small pond. lol Annnnd you're hooked ! A small pond most often leads to a larger pond and then an even larger pond . lol And then , not only do you have humming birds , but other kinds of birds as well . And Dragonflies , frogs , etc. I've even had wild ducks and cranes fishing in my pond. Once you start providing habitant you do not know what may show up.
