My buddy is on a custom stage 2, with just intake, downpipe, and exhaust, hes pushing 300whp... literally cost him $2000 for stage 2. COBB is a joke

Just to comment on the under steer. I've owned a couple of these cars and in both cases I swapped out the rear sway bar for a 27mm Hotchkiss or APR (both the same thing). One car had H&R lowering springs, one had stock springs. Both cars no longer had under steer problems. If you get the black Hotchkiss bar, I think it's only $200 and it's an easy DIY swap.

QuickHand Cam It is pure garbage. COBB is totally trash , I’m on a Revo stage 2 with half those bolt ons (literally an intake and a downpipe) pushing 298 crank - give or take 265 wheel

I understand you're 5000ft above sea level but most stage 2 tunes from other brands such as APR see typically 250-260whp at sea level so I'd think that you would be closer to 230whp with a different tune.

Running the revised stage 1 from apr pretty happy with it and i believe it does make more hp than this stage 2 tune. Hp seems low for what they installed however maybe that altitude change may play a factor?

+Samay Sahoo I'll let you in on a secret. Most "dieselgate" TDI owners don't really care for getting their car "fixed" the so called fix reduces both fuel economy and torque. Most just want to be left alone.

Exactly! Plus my DPF and all the other filters got clogged, I ended up having them removed and just running a straight pipe from the turbo back to the OEM muffler.

What about applying exhaust ceramic coating to the down pipe? That heat wrap might trap moisture and cause corrosion.

Why such low/high numbers, bhp/0-60? Is it the altitude, or poor stock numbers, or tuning parts, or emissions laws, or poor US fuel octane levels? I'm thinking all of the them! Also, can you run a car in US on 98 or 99 octane?

The best way to Polish a car is to put it on by hand and take it off with a buffing wheel. No swirls guarteed.

That car has a leaking DV(Diverter Valve) I can hear it whistle on all the acceleration runs. When I tuned my car(Mk6 GTI) I started hear that noise, replaced the DV and it cleared it right up and the acceleration felt a bit more pronounced. Also my car at a stage 1+ managed a 5.3-5.5 second 0-60 with the DSG too. So I feel like the DV might be leaving some HP on the table for this car.

That whistle is pretty common and is not always the DV I unfortunately listened to people like you when I did a ECS cold air on my mk6 gti and everyone said it's the DV so I ordered a GFB DV+ for it and installed it. Still there... eventually got around to a car meet and met a guy who had a fully built GTI and ensured me that the noise I'm hearing is the harmonics inside the cold air from the intake.

@@RC_Trailblazers As anything when it comes to cars "your mileage may vary". Everyone's setup is different but I wanted to share personal experience from my setup. Typically upgrading to an updated DV valve fixes the issue for a lot of people and helps get some hp back as a bonus. It's a little strange your car still has the weird whistle.I watched your video and it's really loud and apparent. Mine only did it briefly between like 4-5k RPM. Have you looked at reviews on your intake to see if other people had the same issue? Also, if the positioning is adjustable at all, I would try adjusting whatever I could to try and cancel out the harmonics. Weird how only the mk6 has that weird noise. My mk7 R never had that issue. I'm assuming it's mk6 turbo specific.

Seen it happen on 2015/2016 models? You mean the ones that are V-banded and don't have studs/bolt on the DP to turbo housing? I assume he must not have been talking about GTI's or he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Youy guys really need to test a tuned MK7 GTI. A MK7 with downpipe and stage 2 tune will pull on an upgraded turbo MK6.

why would you go with cobb??? its a VW not a subaru. APR, REVO, GIAC, UNITED MOTORSPORTS all known for their vw tunes. no one runs cobb in the german world.

91Tricky I've met plenty of people running the others even eurodyne but never any german guys running COBB. I'm guessing you came from subaru or ford before now? Only reason I'd see anyone choosing COBB over the others.

Cobb released their software in march for gtis so that is probably why you don't see many. No I didn't come from Ford or Subaru, I owned a chevy cobalt before this. lol I bought it because it was the cheapest offering for tunes. And I liked the extra features that the accessport provided. Plus once you buy the accessport all of the tunes are free which is nice.

91Tricky lol the access port is $650 on COBB's website. A tune from every other brand is $600 and it's $450 from eurodyne. For $900 from eurodyne you get the tuner which allows you to custom tune yourself. COBB only increases 34hp with a stage 2 tune. APR and everyone else is drawing 80-100hp with stage 2.

Yes its $650 but you get every stage. I am stage 1 now and its free to go to stage 2. No additional fee. And you have protunes, if want more power for around $200 which will give better gains over the COBB OTS tunes.

Huh. Always thought stock GTI did 0-60 in close to 6 flat. I understand we're a mile above sea level and all, but you'd think with that tune that we'd get back around that 6 second mark. ~7 seconds post tune just doesn't seem like it'd be worth all that cash for the upgrades. Love the car, though. I'm sure the 0-30's flat out fun.

Stage 2 with stock turbo doesn't need the intake, actually hurts your low end torque. Can do way better with airbox mod. I'm Unitronic Stage 2, in Longmont area with a sport back A3 and could smoke this GTI

Using the DSG, which this car has, you'll run into the torque limiter that will cut torque once it reaches above 258ish pounds. Try to tune the dsg. I had a stage 2 mk6 that had the same issue.

My cobb stage 2 GTI is pushing 310 torque to the wheels, DSG is not tuned, there is no "torque limiter" and the clutches aren't slipping.

Benjamin Edwards yeah altitude causes serious power loss. He claims in the video 15 on turbo I believe that's correct at a mile over sea level. So back where I live that would be nearly 300hp car.

Ehh, I debated switching over to Cobb because of the customization factor with the accessport, but after seeing these numbers(even above sea level), that's really low for a stage 2 tune, (if it was Stage 1, these numbers under these conditions would be more acceptable(. I'm running a Unitronic Stage 2 Tune on my GTI and when I dynoed it, I got 258hp/283tq at the wheels. I'll pass.

and. .. just rewatched their leak test which is wrong too lol. you need to pinch off the DV tube and PCV hose. testing at 2psi != 20psi.... you'll see that is true if you work on an Abarth.

there is no DV tube. the DV is mounted on the turbo. otherwise, they would have mentioned they installed a DV relocation kit

My stock euro GTI had 211WHP at dynojet (with stage 0 and 100RON). With stage 1 it has 236WHP.

Yep. Various tunes effect the power band in different ways. Some people actually prefer that "jerk" because it throws your head back in your seat a bit. Kind Ipod a torque illusion with the GTI since comparable tunes offer the same hp gains.

In some applications a smaller diameter pipe can increase performance due to back pressure. In an engine like this, the turbo provides more than enough back pressure. I've seen 4 cyl turbo engines with 4+ inch exhausts behind the turbo that do not hurt the performance.

214 horsepower lol you should go with APR Stage 2 on my mark 5GTI to 70 at the crank should be to 50 to the wheels haven't had It at the dyno yet . But from the RU-vid videos on my generation it stays consistent 250 the wheels with an APR stage 2 . And my 0 to 60 time was 3.9 seconds 6 speed manual . Although I am at a 1000' above sea level I don't think you would make that much of a difference would it That is a lot of performance loss 83゚ 50% humidity Density altitude 2879'

k&n style filters let in micro particals of dirt. much more than oem style. this alone will wear an engine more.

I'm not sure on the COBB tune they used which is extremely uncommon to use on german cars. Most people will go with APR, REVO, or GIAC which make more gains than the COBB anyway but people have put 100-200k on these tunes with no difference in reliability. Again those are more trusted in the german community than COBB. As far as filters I'd go with an APR or Neuspeed intake. You'll gain a few HP and they sound great!

Jeff K not necessarily true. Some vw dealers will flash APR tunes and cover warranty work as well as many people have still been covered after a tune. However it is a gamble some dealers wont cover you.

1998 vw gti vr6 was much faster with a few mods didn't cost alot I ran 200 HP and 7sec to 100mph and 12.9 sec 1/4 mile.

The Mk6 GTI is a great car, but, in my opinion, my Mk7 GTI (w/ Performance Package) blows the Mk6 away, even with the mods. The MQB platform is better in every respect, and the torque bump is gigantic.

Dude your dv has a leak and your missing about 37-40 whp bc of it the leak test didn’t test the dv bc the ecu needs to open the dv to then see if you have a leak but can only be done if your driving so and surprised u didn’t hear it

214 bhp on a stage 2 tune, exhaust and induction kit lol that's pretty terrible, so if that's 214 bhp at the wheels then the engine is putting out around 246 bhp, that's about the same power gains from a stage 1 remap .....

my 2014 does NOT lose power like NA motors... Only big inclines caused downshifts .. even then I could accelerate uphill.
