Great video. Im building my own using this video as a reference. One question, I notice this time you did not connect the smoke machine using the T valve, instead you connected it in the throttle hose. What was that you used there?
Dawg, you should make a video on how to strip wire with pliers like a g.. I can’t even strip the ends of em that quick or clean with god damn strippers.. That was more amazing than whatever the video was for initially.
@Zombie Head it's because the element is not made of copper or a typical conductive metal. The metal used has a higher resistance which causes it to heat up when current passes through it. This is why that type of wire is used in heating elements. It has nothing to do with the bolts which are quite conductive. Using thicker heating element wire just means you'd need to cut a shorter piece. Technically, you could calculate the length and everything simply by knowing high school physics and Ohm's law, but if you have a multimeter you can just slide your leads along the span of the wire until it reads 2-3 ohms. Honestly, if you bought heating element wire, the resistance per foot is probably on the container anyways. Pretty much idiot-proof.
Thicker (heavier) wire = Longer wire, to obtain the desired resistance. A benefit of thicker (and longer) is the heating element will be more robust against hot spots, melting and burning through the resistance wire.
Thank you so much for your help, I will try the small one no the can, But i want to jump the fuse 10amp, Do you think it can cause a fire, Otjerwise i jave to go and buy tue clipper, fuse and adapters to lowes, Thank you , finally i can find where is these leak, do not gave me, any code or check engine light
@@masterofnone sorry to bother again but i believe is the wire that why sparks eve time i connect to the 12 v batteria of the car even the drill still sparks I using a 20g galvanized wire, about 1 feet Thank you in advance,
@@masterofnone thank you for fast answer, i will go now and buy the hanging wire, like actually is even cheaper!!!!! Idiot i was picking up the 20g galvanised
Most diy ers will not need this more then once. So never thought about refills. I you want to refill, I suggest finding a glass container with a lid that is air tight
@@masterofnone Easy to refill, you've used a tyre valve, right, just screw out the valve stem core, that should give you free access to add more baby oil, if I'm not mistaken, or you could add the oil through the plastic hose. I want to make one of these myself, I just don't know what kind of metal wire needs to be used, does anybody have a link with a description and/or where to buy it?Thank you.
This will help with finding leaks in intake or EVAP system of your engine. This systems are sealed and when we have holes or cracks, it will cause things to not work.
I'm having trouble getting my wire to heat up. I've done exactly what he's done. I'm using a glass jar with a metal lid. It's actually an empty salsa jar. When all pot together, wires attached to screws, nothing. I attach the cables directly to wick, it heats up. Any one else have this problem?
@@masterofnone I thought that may have something to do with it. I will try a plastic lid. Thanks my friend I appreciate your reply. Keep up the videos. 👍 **update** since the last post I made, I was having problems getting my wire to heat up. Like master of none mentioned, the metal lid was actually the problem. I used some rubber grommets where the screws go to keep the lid from acting like a conductor. Since then works like a charm.
well done .. nice easy videos . I made one already from an old coffee can but I worry about trying to insulate everything .. a glass Jar with a plastic lid looks a lot easier and safer. You might try using truck tyre valves , they are brass , heavy duty and bolt on very well and have a built in rubber seal .. i think its a good idea to remove the inner valves too . img.newfrog.com/products/1/7/1/171019/171019-1.jpg This is like what i used . I used Kanthal wire .. 28ga , about 12 inches ( 300mm ) works well wrapped around a wick or cotton. cheap and useful tool to have. Thanks for the video.
I'm a vaper so I already had a 30 ft roll of Kanthal and lots of cotton that I use for wicks .. normally you only need an inch or so to build a coil for an ecig so I think I could spare some :) Great video
actually ...ever since I built the smoke machine ... every day I had time to try it there was wind ... and wind makes it difficult to use since it blows away the leaking smoke. I can hear the hissing on acceleration I just cant find the leak.. grrrr
