This is a pretty powerful $450 prebuilt PC powered by the Ryzen 7 4700G APU!
With 8 Cores 16 Threads and backed by Radeon graphics @ 2100MHz this machine has performed amazingly!
In this video we test out some web browsing, 4K video playback, run some benchmarks like Geekbench and 3dmark then move over to some PC gaming testing out 11 games like Skyrim, Forza horizon 4, wow, Fortnite, overwatch, GTA5, and more plus we test out power consumption of the 4700G.

love the reviews! could you please test street fighter v and killer instinct with these PC builds more? not the best games but they're really handy to have as a baseline for people who want small setups for local tournaments or to have a small PC for playing since streaming these games via steamlink etc isnt an option due to the lag.

Thanks for the heads up on this hp a couple weeks ago! I had planned to swap the 4700g out for my 2600, except I was on a b350 so, I ended up gifting my little cousin the rig instead… put a 950 in it & kept my rx580 cutepet to use with an R43SR & the deskmini I ordered for my new ryzen 7

Indeed, this was a great video. I own the HP M01-F0016 model that looks identical to this machine with the exception that it has the Ryzen 5 3400G instead of the Ryzen 7 4700G. Everything else is identical on the ERICA motherboard and on the outside as well.

Just got one of these, I love it! I found out that there is a compatible 400watt psu with a PCIe connector on it as well so you could put a modest GPU in it in the future, which is my plan when 3060s are available for msrp or the 3050 comes out

I could this as being a great first pc. It's cheap and can game for $400 and you can easily do a mod to use an io shield to eventually upgrade the motherboard and put in a graphics card and upgrade the psu and just have a great looking "sleeper" that looks really good

The "HP crap" is embedded into the Windows 10 Home installer (I did a couple of reinstalls) but it's easy enough to remove. They're just normal programs.

ETA Prime what 's do you think of the Sharpin Ultra pinball machine that Doug just reviewed? Do you feel it's a good competitor to the At Games Legends Pinball if they had a second screen/better price point. They have app already where you can buy tables from the major digital companies and download them to the table. I'm unsure since I own the tables on Steam already if it can use install them to my usb drive and play them natively on the pinball table? Or, do I have to buy their andriod only versions from the apps?

Question someone that wasn't answered and although it doesn't apply to me it would definitely apply to others. What is the PSU expandability for if someone wanted to get this for a starting system and then upgrade to a discrete GPU? It looked like the power supply was proprietary but not 100% sure.

You have 2 choices, 1 get one of the HP larger power supply for their business / workstation system that would cost like $100+ easily for 400W, 2 get a second power supply to power your GPU with a ATX cable that will power both supply on (I know eBay has that), or some sort of external GPU. However thermal would be your biggest problem as the case is small and cooling is not that good. Personally I would only upgrade to a 1660 GPU or wait a few years and upgrade a newer low power GPU with more power to this system.

I have come to the conclusion that I am becoming a bigger and bigger nerd as I get older. I get more excited to see these type of videos now than new movies or music from others! 🤷‍♂️💯💯💯🤪 One thing I saw on your bench scores (Nite Raid) was that you had the resolution set higher on the system when you had only one channel of ram in. Doesn’t this then bottleneck that single channel unfairly and make the true bench score appear so dramatically different? As opposed to doubling the ram and then also being in dual channel?

The real thing is that having 4 memory channel instead of 2 would already double the potential bandwidth, and that would already be more than enough for integrated graphics like these. AM5 MB and DDR5 won't be cheap at first guys... We'll have to wait for years before having the chance to make a budget APU build with DDR5...

You could probably lower the resolution a bit and increase the detail by making use of some of the Adrenalin 2020 driver features, like sharpening, special aliasing types, and maybe scaling, if applicable here, to improve the experience.

this isnt the best value by any means lol, you can build computer 3x as powerful for about 300, i5-3470,gtx 970 and 16 gigs of ram basically , his rocket league performance in "performance mode" which is the lowest settings cause I play rocket league got an average of 111fps. that old computer of mine got an average of 160fps and that was 1080p with everything on there highest settings, with everything on its lowest settings I would see fps in the 300 range.Same with doom eternal with everything maxed out in 1080 on my old gaming PC I was getting average of 85 fps and it would be a 300 dollar build nowadays

@@moviemania1137 yeah thats a good idea.Ive seen some of them xeons compete with an i7-8700k and they were like 50 bucks(at the time of the video I saw).Those motherboards though from china, Im not to sure what the build quality and lifespan is on those things.Ive seen videos where they took a thermal camera and looked at the open case with it running and those vrm's were hitting like 90c.Which is extremely hot for a vrm to run at.Could have been that specific mobo but I think techyescity did the video or ETA prime.Whiever one that does a lot of videos on those chinese boards

The hp motherboards are manufactured by both asus and msi. Problem is, they’re manufactured to hp consumer standards which ain’t high. They’ve only got to last 12months. The commercial variants are much better, eg Z240. They gotta last 3 years. I shake my head whenever I’m onsite fixing a hp consumer unit someone’s bought to run their business.

I'm also curious to see, but I'm not that hopeful. I went on Best Buy and from what I can tell the upgradability isn't the best. The other stock parts are midrange, and the core bios hard locks the VRAM to 512 MB and the ram allocated to game performace to 0.5gb. You can also only use SATA SSD's as both m.2 slots are already taken.

@@ClaudioSL619 that's unfortunate. It's kind of to be expected for a prebuilt that wasn't meant for gaming in the first place though. I believe this is more like a workstation editing and rendering PC, it seems more like a Mac Pro competitor than a gaming PC.

If you're asking about the processor specifically, it would run like a normal 3700X i think. This is a Zen 2 processor, just like the 3700x which also has 8c/16t. if ur asking about the actual pc, the other comments explain it all already...

@ETA Prime, I know my comment is not related to this particular video, but here is the only way I can address my issue to you and the community. I recently bough Nvidia Shield 2015 and install multiple emulator. However the input lag makes it impossible to enjoy /use. I tried multiple controllers (xbox one, ps4, Nvidia Controller) and results are the same. I even bough new TV with game mode to bring the latency to minimum but it doesn't make much impact. Emulators i am mostly using are: *snes9x ex+ *nes. Emu *epsxe (real trouble maker) *redream I am using arc browser. All setup has been performed as per your instructions. What can I do to reduce the input lag? Wired controller?

Looks like an sfx could work but hp uses proprietary mobos so you'd wanna get this pc in your hands and look at all the connections before you upgrade the psu.

This usually means a Power Supply Rated for 300w or more and a PCIE Connector, either 6 or 8 pin or both in higher end GPUs. This is a problem for most prebuilts like this one however, since max rating for PSUs on this system are usually max 250W and only 1 6pin connector if youre lucky. However, using a Low Powered GPU, like the GTX 1650 (not to be confused with the GTX 1650 Super, a higher watt card that needs a 6pin connector) will require no External Power or a Connector and will usually let you run within even the lowest Rating of most prebuilt power supplies, 180w in this one I believe. If you want the best possible upgrade path, you can get a 1tb SSD, at least one extra stick of 8gb 3200mHz RAM, and by the looks of it, any Variant of the GTX 1650 and have yourself a pretty decent 1080p Monster for Gaming and Workstation Needs.

@@Awrethien This CPU is equivalent to a Ryzen 5 3600 in raw performance, so you shouldn't have any bottlenecks, at least if you add a low profile graphics card to it, of course you shouldn't add a high end card to it.

The biggest challenge in a machine like this in adding a dedicated gpu is the PSU. These units only have a 180 watt PSU in them. I doubt they will accept any GPU that needs more power than the PCI-E slot can provide. That limits you to something like a Nvidia GTX 1650 series card.

Looks like the main this is the leap from zen + to zen 2 as the 3400g was one of a few 3000s that wasent a 2 . The zen 3 5000 g series should be out OEM around now which will be another generation above this again

I figured that now that GPU price is still a headache, some people might want to buy a pre-built like this and upgrade it down the line with used GPU or something. I bought the 4750G for my friend for music production. This way you don't need to buy a dGPU. It performs about the same as a 3700X, as expected. The iGPU is still great though, can play 720p lowest settings 75fps on COD Warzone.

My son has this same computer. I upgraded the ram to 16 gb with an identical Micron1Rx8 stick, added a half terabyte WD hard drive that I had laying around, and bought a MSI GeForce GTX 1650 Ventus XS 4G OC. It now plays games like Subnautica, OW2, counter strike go, with max graphics at 1080p. Overwatch 2 drops to like 50 fps sometimes, but it's hardly noticeable. He has no problem playing games at the same settings as his brother that has a Victus 15L with an intel 12400F, 32GB, and a RTX 3050. It's faster, but he's not far behind.

Bought one of those and put in another case and power supply and video card, ASUS motherboard B550 wifi and 48 gig of 3200 ram. Own an I9 and the 4700g is just barely slower but draws a lot lest. Very happy with this cpu for a compromise.

It looks like your single vs dual channel tests were in different resolutions (1440p vs 1080p). That would explain the huge gain. Dual channel is definitely going to help, but maybe not almost double the score. I'd be interested to know the difference at equivalent res.
