I have one combo that the line was more expensive than the rod or reel separately and it’s my favorite compared to my 2-300 price range rod and reel combos. $14 Walmart clearance abu rod 7 ft M-F rod and a kastking reel I only paid shipping for on amazon thanks to a few random gift cards I won at work. I put it together to be the setup that never leaves the bed of my truck, gets beat on and is always exposed to the elements and wouldn’t break the bank if it got stolen. Turns out I use it more than anything and throw my weightless worms and other lightweight lures.
Truth be told, a bass is so damned aggressive, and inhales the bait so ferociously that the only way they're not getting hooked is if they're a fry going after a bait many times their size, your hooks are dull, they missed the hooks entirely during their strike, or you don't have any hooks attached to your bait at all. But setting the hook with the required force looks boring, sooooo...
I got the Lew's Xfinity spinning combo and Its actually my go to for a quick trip or if I don't feel like using a baitcaster that day , and I have a few high-end rods I spent a pretty penny on but I feel more comfortable with the cheaper one cause if it breaks on a monster I won't care lol
I enjoyed your upbeat mood and positive attitude so much that it made me get up and go fishing here in Georgia. Thanks for the information on the grass line, comparing the two sides of the casting reels and your original attitude towards fishing and life.
My daiwa/megabass mono block Bespoke sitting on a megabass Arms Super Leggera is a 3000USD combo.. I have some very rare Ize factory Mag V spools that are 400 to 500 dollars each. The vast majority of my rods are between 700 and 1200 dollars each...
I have a walmart 20 miles north and 20 miles south of me. One has it and ones doesn’t. But they do seem to be getting more lew’s stuff in every time I stop
Same no Walmart in in CO has any of them and I’ve tried a few other states to try and order and nothing. Hopefully it’s due to COVID and they’ll restock em soon!
@@ertren6 yah its only at Walmart's I had to search a few Walmart's by me to find one and I got the last one at the Walmart I found it. I have 4 baitcasters and the Xfinity is by far my favorite though. And it's 97$ not 86$.
I’ve had This combo for over 6 months cleaned it 3-4 times well oiled and zero issues almost zero back lashes makes fishing a ton of fun love my orange combo orange you happy with hook sets
I just got the lew's combo from Walmart, I am very impressed, just wish the eyelets had a coating. Thanks to you actually for your previous video when you first got it and tested it.
Yeah I agree I actually bought 2 on a trip on time put braid on one and fluorocarbon on the other like a day and a half of fishing the braid one it kept messing up the braid well the end eyelet had grooves in it but other then that nice rod and pole for $97
@@ThatSB I'm using baitcasters now. I Bring one spinning rod just for light stuff. I rarely backlash now , I think the first combo I got was just complete garbage. It was the Ozark trail baitcaster.
@@FishininFunkyTown That is good. Cheap baitcasters can be a handful. Im not sure the model you mention but the name inplies it was for trolling. And a trolling conventional is different from a low profile baitcaster. Of course conventionals can still be used. Saltwater fishermen use them. But they are much more difficult for casting lighter stuff as they typically have no brake assist. Modern low profile baitcasters have become dummy proof to the point you can cast them without even needing to thumb the spool if you dont mind losing a little cast distance. And starting from there and learning is easy. Problem is learning HOW to dummy proof them! Two settings that kind of need to be adjusted in tandem to avoid gimping your casts or back lashing
@@ThatSB it wasn't a trolling reel. It was a Walmart brand baitcaster. I think the breaks on it were just non existent. I would crank them all the way up and it would backlash , I would try thumbing it and it would still backlash. The combos I have now never backlash unless I do one of those pissed off casts.😂
For anyone who may be looking for a budget rod and reel combo. I cant reccomend enough the matched set from Piscifun. The Torrent rod and Torrent baitcaster reel can be got on amazon for around 65 to 75$ it is a very well made combo the reel is a 7.1:1 with 10 + 1 bearings. It has a magnetic break and one of the things I really appreciate is the spool tension clicks when you adjust it and the drag wheel clicks when you adjust it. But theres no click when a fish pulls line out that's really the only downfall. The rod is MH 6.9 foot 2 piece and the combos colorway is black dominate with red. accents. I found it on Amazon.
Who else thinks the RU-vid’s with the smaller channels are better than those with a bigger channel. Your tips and tricks are always helpful and the Yaksquad loves you
Bought the Xfinity combo after watching your video was a little skeptical at the flimsy rod... But now fishing with it for about a week and a half and clearly is better than my kastking and my 13 fishing reel. Looking forward to the next video
Can you do a video showing your method to spool braid into a baitcaster. Been having issues while doing that lately and any tips would be awesome! Congrats on the merch btw, it looks great!
The baitcaster is awesome too I have it. I would get the spinning combo but I cant find it at Walmart's by me, I got lucky and got the last Xfinity baitcaster at my Walmart. I have 5 baitcaster combos and Xfinity is my favorite.
@@stpbasss3773 yeah unfortunately I looked at my Walmart last night while Christmas shopping, theres none there now either.. I was gonna get one for my father but I just bought him a bunch of spinner and crank baits instead.. There's plenty of the Xfinity baitcasters but my father doesn't use baitcasters
@@stpbasss3773 I stopped by my Walmart on my harley they day I found mine.. I got alot of looks on my way home with that florescent orange pole hanging out of my saddle bag lol
This video just popped up on my feed. I have two of the Orange XFinity reels and I love them. I started switching all my reels over to Lews. They are super nice reels. Love the Classic Pro Aldo. The bigger reel knobs are so nice.
Even have that combo in Upstate NY. They’re everywhere like Sav-wah-fare! I’m Old, it’s from a cartoon that I cannot remember. Two bass on a white fluke, FINALLY! Guess I had to fish the right state.
I really wanted to get some product to support my favorite yak fishing channel and it really sucks the only things that I can afford without hurting my pocket being a struggling to make ends meet working 2 full time and 1 part time job ( " it feels like I sleep and work with a cpl free hours a week that im able to fish") husband and father of 2 young girls and the only one who is capable/able to work, that I can only get stickers for my yak for now but with no doubt I will be getting all of them asap and eventually I will be getting some shirts and hoodies for the whole family! I love all the content and all the new products that you've been able to provide so far and can't wait to get more!
Amazing video as always man. Yakpak squad in the house. But y'all been sleeping on those Xfinity combos. I caught my pb of 10 pounds on the green and white one back in May. I love the the way it feels. And it's awesome for the budget fisherman like myself. I've been looking for the orange and white one to add to my arsenal. And yes that American Hero reel from Lew"s is fire too. Keep the awesome videos coming in. Watching from Alma,GA. #bigbassenergy #armystrong #Yakpaksquad #veteran
Yo I honestly hope you make 1 mil this year. You are one of my favorite youtubers to watch no cap and you are doing good things. You insre me to do things and you are a major role model i look up to
Your not paying $700 for the extra 8 yards your paying for the sweet titanium coating on the Pro-Ti reel and the titanium guides on the rod. Great vid guys!
I'm up in Connecticut. That first bass is my pb. Pretty sure I've had better with no scale. I think bass fishing probably tougher up here if your after big bass. I now just use 30 -50 braid to prevent break offs. I know someone who caught a 5 pounder The other day.
If you get the chance to try out this cheap bait-caster reel, I'd like to watch the video. It sells on Amazon at a cheap price of about $35.00 Cdn. It's called the "Taruor Baitcasting Reel 18+1BB Ball Bearings Bait-casting Fishing Reel High Speed 7.2: 1 Gear Ratio Magnetic Brake System Bait-caster Reel. I believe the model number is referred to as "Expert YL300". Seems like a solid reel for the low price.
I have that cheap combo and for the money, it's actually worth. I bought it earlier this year and it was only $79? I know it wasn't selling for more than $90. It's held up to some big fish but yeah it also has one thing I dislike, where the reel fits in can get loose. I like the reel better than the rod but the color scheme is fun.
TJ and Norm collaboration even without Norm being present...lol. I gotta get me a baitcaster combo for bass. I usually use light tackle spinning (6-8lb test, medium action) and fly gear for freshwater. I never even had a baitcaster for freshwater. I got a couple of big ol' saltwater level-winds for stripers, black sea bass, etc.
@@Trilla_killa12 no doubt. I was in Walmart yesterday actually grabbing a few chattersbaits and saw 5-6 of them, casting & spinning. Over in Conyers, GA.
I like Lew's rods, but they really need Fuji guides and seats for those prices. I have had no issues with the current guides, but would feel more confident in Fuji components. Concerning reels... sorry Lew's it's hard to beat Shimano and Daiwa.
Gotta be better than the American hero combo. I have the spin casting combos from Walmart. They work perfectly. Have two of them. Pooping corks mostly.
Of course the Lew's Pro TI is going to feel smoother, and perform better than the Xfinity, but you can buy 6 Xfinity combos, to 1 Pro TI ! My choice would be the Xfinity because I'm cheap !!🤣🤣🤣🤣✌👍👍👌 Great video guys 👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸😁
