"Holly crap this is incredibl" the look on your face was priceless. I love your food videos and your videos of where to go and what to do. And your voice OMG it's so soothing I could listen to you all day long
No idea how, just stumbled across you first time now. Retired old ex-pat Australian currently in Portugal few more weeks, just plane hopping without any planned destination in mind usually ..... BUT GEEZ I wish I didn't see these pies !!! I do miss a great pie, I guess some paella 🥘 next week will offer some stress relief. Great RU-vid hostess & content, luv food luvers. Truly appreciate what you said about chicken pies, it's Beef 🐄 ONLY or it's not a pie. Chicken is a Chicks pie, you'll NEVER meet a Man that's eats one. P.S:- Just reminiscing, I remember the first pie I had at Wahroonga, Sergeants pie was sixpence and it was threepence for a sausage roll.
Pie in the Sky in Bilpin. I previously asked the owners and yes they did name the shop after that most wonderful british television series. It was a few years ago that i last went but i recall it being delicious. You could also make a little day trip of it. Head to bilpin buy some cider, pick some fruit at some farms and enjoy a delicious Meat pie. ( and smooch under the shade of a tree )
My pie cravings are fierce after watching this! Soooo hungry! I’ve been indulging in the frozen pies lately but the upmarket ones, now I feel it’s time to up my game.
Thank you Janice! My first experience with a meat pie was not very good, and I ve never tried it for so long. I will definitely go one of your recommends and will try one!
Watching this video, is making me hungry. When I was in school, I had a meat pie with mash potato on top, and sundried tomato on the top, right on the centre. I live in Sydney's western suburbs, and with most bakeries, they do a really great job. 😋
Thanks Janice - you are the most cosmopolitan food and travel vlogger. Good luck with Scoffles but you are so clear and articulate in your spoken language I will still stick with your wonderful RU-vid videos as well. Cannot make up my mind if your siblings are a bit too demanding with their food requests!
Upper Crust @ Narrabeen NSW , haven't been for a while but all I remember is a line of 100 odd people to get some pies . You have to get in early morning 7am till lunchtime otherwise they are all sold out !
Your videos are an inspiration to me. Please keep them coming!! Now I am off to Google to find out how many pie shops are in my local area, to see what the differences are and to take loving food photos of them :)
These Aussie Pies Look Great Janice ! How I miss my Aussie Meat Pies ! I'm Australian Originally from Sydney, Australia. Living in Los Angeles, U.S.A. 🙏 😺
Bite Me Bakehouse around Hornsby area is really good! Also Mountain High Pies near the Blue Mountains have an amazing big breakfast pie but it's a little bit of a drive :)
Hey Janice. My wife and I are really loving your channel. You would make a great food tour guide. I agree that the pie shop at Wentworth Falls is pretty great. Coffee is great to.
If you take a road trip to the north coast, Fredo Pies in Frederickton (north of Kempsey on the old highway) make excellent pies and sausage rolls. Their specialty is the crocodile pie, but all are good. Thanks for another great video.
You wouldn't believe it but my best meat pie eating experience was at a Train station (Blacktown). It was a long time ago but they honestly had the most perfect pies you could ever want. You take a bite and the pastry is just holding itself together, slightly runny and a little hot, but no so hot that you couldn't keep it in your mouth. It had this slight pepper kick to it as well. I never expected this little pie shop at a train station to be so good, but it was. I would be surprised if you could get that same pie there but they were the best.
Janice Fung For the benefit of visitors from overseas, I always take them to Harry's in Woolloomooloo, especially if they have no idea that pies can be something other than sweet. There again I always miss the old country's pie and mash, drenched in parsley liquor, with a side of eels...
Try House of Pie in Matraville they open 24/7,that's the new name I haven't been there for years but last time I was there they called Matto Pies. I like to eat my pie in a bread roll like sausage roll in a roll, something you should try and see it yourself hahaha
Just a suggestion: I think you may get more viewers and longer viewing times if you interview the employees/bakers on why they enjoy doing what they do, about their creations. Many people are on their own now or cooped up at home. Listening to an interesting interview is enjoyable to many of us. Think of how many meat pies people can watch you eat in your car and ask yourself when the boring factor kicks in. If you look at the most popular food shows, they always incorporate mingling with owners, employees and customers. You have a good personality so profit on it. Thanks!
I didn't eat so much for dinner and now I am starving after I watched your video! Those meat pies looks amazing. I will have to try them to make my mind but I think I already have a crush on the lamb meet pie. We do have a meat pie tradition here too but it is more a Christmas thing. We sometime make a giant meat pie for Christmas and it typically contains meat of wild animals like deer, moose, partridge or anything that lives in our forests. They are so big that we need to bake through the whole day to eat them at night. 🥧😋
The Grumpy Baker Cafes have really good pies and sausage rolls, ( Vaucluse / Maroubra ) , heatherbreas pies at Raymond terrace ( 2 hours drive north of sydney ) is a great pie stop if your on a road trip. I love my meat pies too, brings back great childhood memories, although back in the day the tomato sauce was always free with your pie .
Get a girl that looks at you the way Janice looks at pies 😂 (also if you’re feeling like little drive out of Sydney, Mountain High Pies in Wentworth Falls is the place to go before a hike in the Blue Mountains 😁 )
Both eyebrows raised by Janice means it's very good...lol...Also the good thing about food you can always eat the evidence if you don't want to share with your siblings...lol...😜👍
Lol I can totally relate about Bakerie running out of stock. They sell out before lunch most days so we pick ours up in the morning. You should order their sauce - it’s like a chutney and really adds to the pie’s flavour. They serve it when you eat in but also do takeaway but most of the staff forget to ask.
Oh dear, you missed "Annie Bakes Cakes" in Alexandria. They have Char siu pie and spectacular versions of beef and chicken pies. It's a wholesaler but they will heat up for you for a takeaway in the car.
Looks amazing Janice! Only problem, it will take me some time to get to taste those pies as I live in the UK. Maybe you should try the UK meat pies, I know you will love them :)
I love the look of all those pies-yum!! I am into pies atm, and have been doing the rounds and grabbing a few here and there. Just the weather for it! :)
Boulevard de la Patisserie in Round Corner Dural, they have great quaiity stuff, there's beef burgundy pie with meat that just falls apart, and a curry pie too. That's the closest thing I can think of for quality in the Hills, NW Sydney. Have only really tried Harry's Cafe de Wheels and the tiger pies from this list, they're a decent meal.
Great pies I love the ones you choose they look delicious ..Please try the pies at HIGH ST Pies in Penrith they have won lots of awards and they are DELICIOUS especially there steak and cheese ..x💗😍
I was going to comment that nowhere did cheeseburger pies anymore, but then i saw them in a panning video shot of Pie Tin. guess i need to go to newtown!
DOUNT van in berry great to with pies all so. BUT don't going to milk bakery in berry town their lamb and pine nuts sausage roll is not up to standard but great road trip their give it a go
Yum, love a good pie. Steak and mushroom is my favourite. These are probably more like a dumpling but i call them chinese meat pies but have you had a 馅饼 - Xian Bing??
"I thought you were trying to lose weight!" Ouch!!! My Seinfeld-response to Eunice would be "No Pie for YOU!" 🤬 I couldn't have shared, all those meat pies look so flaky and filled with yumness!
Although I'm sure somewhere over here in the States there may be some meat pies, but as far as I know, it's never been a thing here. They look amazing though, until you put ketchup on it! lol
Hi Janice...you will go pop eating all those pies...joking...they all look amazing...steak and kidney pie with short crust pastry is my fav in UK...love your channel.. take care Jonathan x ( London UK )
You are lucky Jonathan. Some of the most amazing pies I’ve tried were from the farmers markets over there. Wild boar and venison were our favs. So good I miss them!
@@blueskyandtrees yes for sure...farmers market pies are some of the best...there is however a pie shop in Bude Cornwall that I found by accident and taste amazing.. You looked very satisfied with your selection of pies that looked great...keep well...your vlogs are just the best and look forward to the next one.. Take care Jonathan x
I certainly agree Australian pies are the best , if been to Harry's and had the tiger pies I remember the walk down to where it was a million steps down and back up lol. Also the pies in Perth are fantastic full of meat well worth the money , the first thing I get my mate and his wife to do is DOWN THE PIE SHOP they are never disappointing . Here in the UK the pies are a rip off all pastry and hardly any meat . Well done Australia
Where abouts are you? We used to get the most amazing pies from the farmers markets in London (West Hampstead). Wild boar and venison. So damn good! Nothing like them here in Aus.
