I also want to perform an induction service to clean up the intake side to clean up the carbon build up. Thanks for watching let me know what you guys what to see next video
Usually the coolant through throttle body is for IAC valve meaning when it's cold it idles higher and as the engine coolant warms it slowly closes that valve to normal idle speeds. In the summer when you start your car it's like 800-900rpm, in the winter it should idle around 1200 until temps are reached then drop to 800-900 or lower.
I've been thinking about adding a catch can to our '17 Pilot as well. Do you think the high elevation could be the reason oil hasn't worked it's way up to the can? I've seen others Pilot/Ridgeline/MDX with the can located lower along the front near the dipstick area.
I’m pretty sure that’s why it’s not catching any oil because the can is too high. I may have to relocate it. It’s worth it imo. The way the intake manifold gets so brown and carbon build up overtime from the blow by
Im here because im curious about others experience. I have a J&L Oil Separator 3.0, I used in a ecoboost engine 1.5L for 30k miles and checked every 5k miles, I removed it before trade in the car and installed in another vehicle with a ecoboost 2.0L engine, same thing changing the oil every 5k miles and checking the can, in both engines I had exactly the same results about 1/4 of inch of oil in about 5k miles. I think is much related to the climate conditions where you driving and engineering of the engine, I seen others videos with different results from a full can of oil to a cappuccino like mixture to a very low oil in there but I never seen one clean like yours. Yours probably was not installed properly. Oil separators going installed in the same hose is CPV valve and not delete anything.
Due to the fact that you installed a filter there, now the air that gets into the manifold from the engine will not be counted and you will receive a check engine light
So the different color oil that stinks like gasoline in the can is sorcery lol. I sent what my catch can caught to Blackstone labs when it finally filled up and it was extremely fuel diluted oil. A quality baffled catch can on a DI Turbo charged engine absolutely works. If it's not baffled then you're wasting your money. A $20 can from Ebay I'm sure doesn't do a very good job
