I absolutely love my NHMTG mags. I have a few of them.

Okay all the way (okay ind/colt same mags ie cage 33710).. I've seen/had waay too many out of spec poor quality issues with C-products/Duramag to trust them with anymore money, both the old and new versions. Brownells, dh, and center ind have all been gtg in my experience too.

Okays are awesome. I haven’t seen any issues with DuraMag. My ASC I had bolt catch issues on one build due to their followers being slightly shorter and not wide enough in that area too. I’ve done fair amount of research and Brownells uses two manufactures… one is Okay ind.

@muddy hotdog Under a different video you made the comment, "I actually like the original style non-E2 Okay mags, now sold with Magpul followers better though." Care to share why please sir? Much obliged!

@@rustyshackleford4299 honestly no reason other than personal preference. Part of it is the look/ feel nastalgia of the original, and other is that they're already a tried n true great mag so I have no reason to stray from the original.. I'm sure the design of the e2 might be an improvement over the original in some ways and more reliable, but we're proly cutting hairs there. I know that the e2's had some issues in the beggining too, but from all I've seen they got that sorted out now and wouldn't hesitate to buy them if I was interested.. the few e2 mags I have work fine for what it's worth

@@itsmillartime6916 Brownells actually manufacture their own line of magazines, at least their in house ones that are labeled brownells (cage code 12238).. They do sell other brands, but okay ind doesn't make their in house mags. For a while Brownells actually made usgi mags for the military

@@muddyhotdog4103 I’ve got my information from reliable sources. Okay industries and Coline both manufacture for Brownells. If you look at the FDE mags there is reason mfr part is “OK552TAN.” OK distinguishing Okay industries. Coline made majority of the Brownells mags around 2013 range. Their is an AR15.con forum that discusses the Brownells and Coline relationship back then. I have a Coline from 2013 which is completely different dimensions and no cage code.

I'm at the point I only run actual USGI aluminum mags. I've settled on D&H for all future purchases. They just work. 😊

I haven’t tried D&H yet. Been running DuraMag when I run USGI mags and haven’t had issues.

They are good mags. I have encountered some spec issues. By that I mean brass hitting on edge when trying to exit mag. Ended up wearing in but was interesting issue.

@@itsmillartime6916 A possible idea is to do a light filing on the edge on future Duramag mags.
@itsmillartime6916
@itsmillartime6916 Год назад
@@filippocorti6760 definitely an option. I’ve only ever seen this on one of their mags. Allowing the brass to remove the little bit of aluminum made it so only material was removed from necessary areas. At same time it formed a sort of feed ramp on inside edge of the mag.

I had to sand down a Yellow Magpul follower to fit a Brownells USGI magazine. Used 320 grit on all the surfaces touching the walls of the mag to balance it, but works great. Didn't have to do that to other brand magazines.

Which version of Brownells mag? The Okay came with magpuls in them.
@ratagris21
@ratagris21 8 месяцев назад
@@itsmillartime6916 it was a green follower version that tilted forward. The body is stamped 03-13. The only surface I didn't sand on the yellow follower was the rear where it engages the bolt catch.

@@ratagris21 dark green or the Teal? Teal is pre Okay making them is my understanding.
@ratagris21
@ratagris21 8 месяцев назад
@@itsmillartime6916 I would guess light green or teal. In any case I replaced it simply to update the magazine. it was one of two that I bought used. The other is a Copper industries mag, but this one had a black follower. It was very flumsy, and it took tilted. Replaced for good measure and reliability. I one on a different brand magazine and messed 3 rounds on a misfeed. After replacing the follower corrected the matter. I just upgrade them. Brownells used a variety of different followers as well from what I've read. Even Steve from Brownells said you can replace the followers for good measure for extra piece of mind.

@itsmillartime6916 8 месяцев назад
@@ratagris21 yeah sounds like those could have been made by Coline for Brownells if teal follower. Tolerances on mine were super super tight and would cause issues with either follower. Also tried a Knight follower.

Would like to hear more, thinking about buying SHK magazines being cheap steel. I think the surefeed look like the tallest and thickest in the aluminum metal. Any numbers or experience with them maybe.
@itsmillartime6916
@itsmillartime6916 Год назад
I haven’t checked out the SHK mags. Surefeed are solid mags but as of this month they are out of gun industries. Someone bought their machining equipment so they may return under a different name. I’m way of GI mags I feel like DuraMag is the go to at moment.
@awsomedude9111
@awsomedude9111 Год назад
@@itsmillartime6916 I was also possibly wondering about the materials of steel magazines. If they get any rust bumps inside it could cause a failure. How they weld and the thickness to see about durability and numbers like size or weight of steel/aluminum and which is better. When I had a G3/HK91 C308, I always wanted the aluminum because the weight felt substantial, but right now I just would want maybe a steel magazine to survive anything in war.
@itsmillartime6916
@itsmillartime6916 Год назад
@@awsomedude9111 I researched this a few years back and every magazine has its failure points. Steel rust, aluminum dents and polymer can crack. Feel like having a good variety is the way to go. These days visually it appears military is leaning toward polymer being they have adopted the pmag. I definitely haven’t had any issue running pmags but GI aluminum mags I’ve found a little more finicky. However I have seen a friends pmag feed lip break while out under 32 degrees. Only failure I’ve seen in person though.

That's not teal its green and not troublesome. I've .had to bend mag pull springs to fix hold open.
