While Harley and I were buying home improvement supplies, we had to (of course) check out more modern appliances. We were noticed filming by a Lowe's employee, who started over to say something, and we walked away.
HE just means the scrapyard can use less energy to crush the millimeter-thick metals of a washer after 2 years of half-assed “service” where it spreads the dirt from more heavily soiled clothes to cleaner ones (but only if you run 2 cycles on every load)
In the UK front loaders are common but I only seen a few top loaders but they are only in charity stores! They used to do top loaders 40 years ago like Hoover though they were ones with agitators.
Just finished a load of laundry this evening in the 1980 Kenmore/Whirlpool belt drive washer with mechanical controls and timer, and matching 1980 Kenmore/Whirlpool dryer with the same. Seeing the junk shown in the video is incentive to keep these durable machines forever. Harley - Check your RU-vid messages for a video link regarding clock radios.
Calling those things "Made in USA" is like saying that cheap pre-fab Wal-Mart furniture is "Made in USA/Canada/etc." because you assembled it at home. I'm surprised they don't have the gall to write that on the box.
My 35 year old dryer makes steam when it heats the wet clothes. This can be witnessed at the exterior vent on a cool day. When the steam stops, the clothes are dry.
I hope they don't actually sell a "washing machine" with a big screen in the front panel. Ugh. I wonder if this ever-descending spiral of mass produced garbage is going to end, or if people are going to decide that they've had enough.
LOL nope, it was a demo model. Although the only thing the screen ever did was display that "Loading" message. I hope that people soon understand how much garbage this shit is, if we show one person at a time.
But Samsung does sell a fridge with a big screen on one of the doors. It has an Android operating system and allows you to see inside without actually opening the door. The screen is about 22 inches in size!
+IAmNotAFunguy I have seen that. Very cool up to date technology. They don't want you to open the door to waste electricity but can have a camera and a huge sideways tablet on the refrigerator costing more money and time to load the Damn thing and all Timmy wanted to do was get purple stuff, but no no Timmy press the button that shows if we have purple stuff first. Even I don't agree with the huge screen, I guess Samsung ran out of ideas.
I had an LG steam (front loader) washer and dryer set that mom bought for my stepdad before he passed on October 2017 due to diabetes. This front loader works, however isn't seeming to do a great job, and not even "ENERGY EFFICIENT" (regardless of the "HE" labeling) when it comes to doing any load on a Normal cycle (1 hour each). So I only have to stay with doing a Speed Wash (28 minutes each) cycle and putting in liquid detergent. I even do two or three loads of my laundry every week and mom does two or three loads of her laundry a week as well. And it's cheaper to even do laundry at night with this LG machine (Why not in the daytime? What is with the High efficiency labeling? Its neither the energy nor water efficiency by the way- its how frequent you use it and the quality of the appliances.). Even using Downy unstoppable granules to freshen them up, still some odor in my clothes (that I wear to mow my lawn with). You can't even close the door on the washer, after you put your clothes in the dryer (which the laundry room is a closet style, with folding doors) you have to leave it open, so it doesn't attract mold or mildew. Over the weekend, when I was doing my laundry, I went downstairs (basement) and found out there is wetness in one of my drop ceiling tiles, and hoping and praying that its not the washer. So my mother contacted the plumber, and the plumber did not find any issues with the leaking pipe, which may (not) be the washing machine. There wasn't even any leaking in the laundry room upstairs. So didn't know what to do and have NO idea what is causing it. By the time something goes wrong with the set (and the leak downstairs happens to be the washer), then I will eventually be looking for a vintage old-school Kenmore set. Until then, I am going to have to deal with the LG.
When I was browsing their appliance department about a year ago, there were still one or two relatively simple machines with agitators. Not a one still had mechanical controls, though. I was quite pleased to see that they still had plenty of simple refrigerators (not that I'll ever be likely to pay for a new one at those kind of prices) and simple stoves (some of which didn't even have a timer!) with coil burners.
Did you heard that other YT User complaint that their washers such as Whirlpool, Maytag, LG, Samsung and other leading product washer had exploded while on spin cycle?
almost every time i go to lowes i almost always see marked down newer appliances that had to be repaired. I have a 10 year old whirlpool cabrio though it has the no suspension and load sensing BS, it hasn't needed any repairs yet. I'm guessing 10 years ago they still cared about the product being sold . Or we got lucky with this one because i have heard of numerous reports of failing control boards from the same machines.
Honestly, you have been lucky :-) There have been hideous issues with those, secret warranties, lawsuits, etc.. although there are still some that go on forever with no problems, I think it has to do with the lot numbers of the components.
when it dies i dont intend to repair it. i dont think i would trust the replacement parts they have now, and i don't want another machine with one of those wash plates.
But my mcwife needs the new sunburst orange $2,500 washer and dryer set with stainless trim so she can brag about it to her friends then in 2 years we will have to upgrade again. Can't have anything old in a mcmansion. My dryer is so old it has woodgrain on it, unfortunately the washer took a shit after 3 years. I paid $20 for the set in 2006 and replaced the washer with a brand new cheap old school style one in 2009 and they both still work fine.
It'll be a lot of bloodshed and tears between my mother and I if her 15 year old Frigidaire washer-dryer pair ever gives out. She goes gaga over what the new stuff has. The more buttons and displays, the better.
Somebody in my neighborhood recently put a Haier brand fridge on the curb, and it had a manufacture date of June 2015. Do you think you could show us that vintage fridge you just scored? Certainly sounds like a better unit.
A shame the USA didn't sell Aussie "Simpson washing machines"(the older one say 70's-80's are beast & built to be tough for Australians). I also notice the USA doesn't sell the NewZealand "Fisher & Paykel" brand of washing machines/dryers & other appliances which are good. they're the first to produce the clever design of a dish drawer dishwasher.
I've own 2 HE washers both were shit the first one was an LG top loader died 5 months later 2nd one was a Bosch vision 300 rusted out and pump went out took that sumbitch apart all I saw was a whole bunch of crap . Bought a Speed Queen last week just waiting for it to arrive. Long story short don't buy an HE washer buy a Speed Quenn!!!!
What is really funny, is that my electronic Anker battery charger was assembled in China, but it's electronics are made on the US. Backwards, anyone???
Why does a washing machine need a fucking giant-ass screen? Who, (Besides McMana) would even want this? I have so many questions. The "America" stickers are a load of hollow feel-good bullshit, just like brand names these days. I personally don't even bother messing about with the appliances when I go to lowes. Don't feel like getting hounded by the associates there. Don't even get me started on Sears. Just walking through the appliance department is a stealth mission.
who would want it? the same people who want a $5000 samsung fridge with bluetooth and wi-fi and built in cameras so you can see whats inside without having to open the door cause you know opening the door takes too much effort. And no im not making that up google samsungs fridge of the future.
Good grief. These companies should be embarrassed to put out such cheap cheesy garbage. The only new washer and dryer I'd even consider buying would be a Speed Queen. Completely manufactured in Ripon, Wisconsin.
I totally agree - I just two weeks ago bought a Speed Queen top loader after my 40 year old GE Filter Flo's outer tub finally rusted out, and its a superior machine to all the new flashy junky gimmicky ones theyre pawning off today. I paid more but it performs like a champ, built in the USA, its ten times the washer these new ones are and a much better warranty to boot.
Oh I do already, its hands down the single highest quality item of anything ive bought in the last ten or fifteen years -- and get this, on another video I had a guy get upset about my elaborating on the bad reviews for certain Samsungs and LG's, so he tells me my comments are harassment and hes going to get me banned from YT comments section--LOL I in no way insulted him personally or said anything vulgar or racist, but apparently I insulted his new washer and dryer and it was more than he could take - lol
A modern $2000 refrigerator will save hundreds of dollars on my electric bill each year because it's energy star compliant LOL. These modern appliances are pathetic and use more electricity than the vintage ones.
Just food for thought......what do you guys think they use in China??? Since the USA uses China because it's cheaper to make do you think China uses some European stuff we don't know about, or they use there own stuff but have such an overstock since it's made there when it fails then it's fixed and sold to the USA.
They don't use the stuff they make, they know it's that bad. I once Googled "why does everything made in China break" and it basically explained how they are FORCED to make door keys out of Play-Doh and stuff like that. They interviewed one of the Mr. Chinamans there, and they live a very simple lifestyle. They only have one or two kitchen appliances, he said "a good rice cooker is a must". They probably buy Japanese.
Japan has sold out too. The Toshiba I'm typing this on was made in China. It's also been many years since I bought a Sony product that was made in Japan.
19psi Yup, Toshiba is pretty much Funai (the newer Chinese Funai, not the 80s Japanese company they used to be) and same with Sony. Some cheap Chinese company bought the Sony name to stick on their products because people are conditioned to assume that Sony is great.
just by looking at them want to make you sick. as the Samsung top loading washers are bad as there are reports of them blowing up the struts that hold the tub in as it occurs at the higher spin speed as the Cpsc is urging users to alter their loads in these and use a lower spin speed. my money would be on a Speed Queen. the only one left thats US made. years ago Speedqueen was a division of McGraw Edison Inc. the front load washers have their own problems on all brands the mold in the seal where the tub meets the door, and the spider made of cast alunimum they corrode and over time break. It seems like not much in quality in modern appliances. as the old ones they still last for decades as my grandmother still living from what i recall has an old maytag wringer washer still used regularly. its these newer top loading washing machines Samsung and others blowing up leaving damage to people's walls, their dryer, and water heater. as they the tub suspension is poorly designed on them as Speed Queen has real tub suspension on them.
Way to much hippo shit to think about. WAY too much "high tech" "made in USA" (rabbit ears) pieces of shit. Speed Queen's the only one left. I hope they don't conk out too.
These make my want to vomit honestly. The worst of it is the "high tech" features they all seem to have nowadays. I guess you need to woo uninformed consumers with something, they certainly won't be impressed by the build quality and performance. Smoke and mirrors.
LMAO I thought i was the only who makes fun of these cheap made in china appliances at the stores. I shouldn't refer to them as appliances since they aren't made like a real modern appliance as I remember them as a kid solid metal built to last now its all this cheap ass china shit..
