In 1975 I purchased a Stihl 041 Farm Boss... It is still running today. Parts are hard to come by, but my dealer has been able to find "salvage parts" when it is necessary. The last time it was in the shop they had to replace the sprocket, bar and chain as they no longer make the chain that came with the saw. Best tool investment I have ever made.

Bought my first new saw in the late 80's Stihl 038 super' already had an 044 , 026 and an 020. all stolen in 1999. Sure miss them, got a ms201, ms261, ms390 , ms362 and ms461 now. Never had to take any of my saws to the shop.

Saw arrived yesterday ru-vid.comUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and today I cut about 3/4 cord of wood with it. Make sure you get an extension chord that is at least 12 gauge wire, minimum. This is my first electric in about 10 years, and things sure have improved. The self-sharpener works great, and it just kept cutting through some pretty decent logs. Wear your eye protection, and ear protection. Excellent saw.

Thanks G. The Stihl is a heck of a nice chainsaw. Glad the dealer was able to walk us through the various models. Heck, I had no idea there were so many. Enjoyed the video and good questions asked. This will help new chainsaw owners what type saw they need for their duty. Full-watch. 👍🏽

My MS 180 C is my “go to” chainsaw…. I never would have thought I would have liked this little 14” saw so much… Light quick and starts easy every time. A perfect chainsaw for limbing and for most of my firewood cutting. I do own a now 23 year old Husqvarna 141 for felling and cutting rounds on the large trees.

Stihl is the gold standard for quality, always has the latest features, & great power to weight. You pay for it though. When it comes to power for dollar & value, they don't have anything under $550 that can run with a $400 Echo cs-590 Timberwolf. I like em all for what they are though.

Echo has always been a good product. The disadvantage that they have had in the past is their dealership and parts network. They have that problem solved now and have taken their rightful place on the center stage with the other big boys. I have an Echo pole saw ( I did a video of it) and I am very happy with it. The quality is right there with Stihl. I would have preferred Stihl when I bought the Echo but I bought it at an open house and got a big discount off the normal price. That put the price far below what I could buy the Stihl pole saw for. I would rate the Echo a Best Buy. It has done very well for me with no issues. One of my subscribers has an Echo pole saw that he believes is 50 years old. Still going strong. Many of my subscribers use Echo products and I have yet to hear any complaints. Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope to see you back here again.

The easy chain tensioner is a waste of money jams up just the bar wrench is so much easier you don't have to take the wheel off to flip the bar I switched my 250c out with the standard tensioner it's super easy to do.

@tractortalkwithgary1271 Год назад
That’s good to know. I know with my MS 250, you have to be watching the chain tension constantly. It is an 18 inch bar though which may be a bit much for that design even though they still offer it in the 18 inch

Struggling with deciding between 271 vs 261. I can afford the 261 but may be overkill for cleaning up deadfall on a 2 acre lot and cutting occasional firewood. Just figure if I can afford pro model might as well for longevity and more solid construction. But extra $200. Analysis paralysis!

@imateapot51
@imateapot51 3 года назад
I have a 290. Bought it after Hurricane Irene and a few trees down and laying on the house. The only real issue I had was the throttle switch broke, or the plastic housing it worked against broke, and the entire base had to be replaced since it was one piece. Just bucked a huge fallen ash tree in my yard (thanks Emerald Ash Borer) and wished I had much bigger than a 20 inch bar. One more ash tree to go when it falls.

I don't like that Stihl has partnered with John Deere and has their lineup for sale and service at John Deere dealers. I think that is a bit of a slap in the face to their dealers. It might be somewhat different if they were the only dealer in town. This dealer that I interviewed is in a small Iowa town of around 1000 people and there is a John Deere dealer in town that now sells Stihl products in direct competition to him. Customers will buy new from John Deere and come to him for service because his labor rate is so much cheaper. That doesn't seem right to me. I am surprised that Stihl would put any of their dealers in that situation. Thanks for watching and commenting. I did a video of my Echo pole saw that you might want to check out. Love my pole saw.

@@emmanouil9233 , I just got done looking it up. They too, have a factory in China. Echo is a Japanese company and they even have a factory in China. Although each of these brands boast that their high standards are the same no matter where they are manufactured, China has the reputation of little if any quality control. I have the 3 Stihls and an Echo pole saw. I am very happy with each one of them. It looks like almost everything that we buy anymore it will come at least in part from China. It seems that we don’t make anything here in the states anymore. We are on the cusp of WW3 and that should be a huge national security issue. Should be but doesn’t seem to be. What really helped get us over the hump and win a two front war in WW2 was our massive manufacturing capability. We are in serious trouble if we go to war with the big boys now, in my humble opinion.
