I wasn't planning on making a new video until I had my sprites ready but this event was a lot of fun so wanted to make this before it ended. I hope gaijin does more historical events with asymmetric setups and no rewards (so people can play it without getting sweaty and just have fun). This also isn't a "guide" on how to play this, just me and some buddies testing what kind of dumb stuff we can achieve by playing things unconventionally, since we got bored of winning, whether it be on the US or German team. Still work in progress on the upcoming videos, it'll be a while until I'm ready to publish another vid so pls stand by.
Really glad Gaijin decided to make this event. I loved the reenactment of a American bombing mission over Axis Europe. The setup was quite different from your normal air RB match, plus we got high altitude combat which I've really been looking forward to since I've joined. All-in-all it was a lot of fun, although it did seem biased towards the Germans. It would be really nice if they did this for other historical events such as The Battle of Britain, Pearl Harbor or Operation Linebacker for example.
Events like this used to have a weekly rotation like 10 years ago. I remember playing the battle of midway and escorting G4M1s in my floatplane zero against a bunch of F2A's and F4Fs. Or intercepting He 111s in my Hurricane in the Battle of Britain
I wasn't around for those, I missed out. The oldest one I remember was the battle of kursk event where you could start in a pz4 or t34 and if you did well you could gain points to spawn in a panther or is2. Hopefully they bring these back more often.
@@CatWerfer They had that with planes too so I was able to eventually play the premium FW 190 D for Russia just by having a a yak-3b or some other low tier. You can imagine why they stopped it cause it helped research stuff (or unlock tiers it may have been back then during the 20 tier system)
Mario Kart Wii is a game I played a lot as a kid so I love the music in it :). I tried to choose songs from it that weren't overused like crazy (coconut mall is good but wayyy overplayed imo). I have a soft spot for Funky Stadium too. The last song is by Louie Zong, a very talented animator/musician who has his own channel where he does little animated shorts and songs, I love his stuff and he's definitely worth subscribing to. As always the music links are in the description so make sure to check them out if you like them!
Can you fly the F100D? It's one of my favorites and is my #1 jet flown. Have over 600 kills in it. I love the swept back wing look while flying it and alot of people say it's terrible but I have had many ace games in it. I usually carry 4 missiles and 2 rocket pods for flares and ground attack.
slight climb to the left of the formation, dive through it from the side while attacking all the way through and then turn back in to engage more bombers or turn away/go vertical to deal with enemy fighters. Been working for me pretty well, most fun to be had in WT recently.
@CatWerfer I had my fun by LARPing honestly lmao "we have to protect the heimat from the terror fleiger" and other such shit. Flying through the formation with planes on fire all around you and black smoke everywhere is a plus on top of the quick RP and SL like you said.
Thanks mate! I tried sending a direct message after game but I think my internet died afterwards I've got stuff planned out for new videos, just haven't had the chance to execute on those plans
@@CatWerfer that is actually very unfortunate. I hope they do similar events though. Like Korean War era, and more WW2 era ones. RAF vs the Blitz maybe?
if the germans had developed the b17 they wouldve added rocket boosters to the tail so that when it got chopped off it could detach and fly around like an me163 (probably not but i like imagining how funny that would be)
well I think US teams were mostly dominating the average lobby which is why there were like 3 times more people queueing for the US teams. Plus, in the first two games, if it wasn't for me swooping in when the US planes were distracted, our team would've lost. So playing the Germans required a bit more forethought and decisionmaking, deciding when to switch from going for dogfights to going for bombers. While I was playing US, I was able to make a similar amount of consistent SL since the rewards for killing player planes is much higher than AI and I got quite a few 5 kill games. TLDR, I think US is easier to play, but I still ended with like a 95% winrate for both sides so I guess skill is also a big component
for fun...? tbh I have most of the vehicles i want in this game and i can't be bothered to grind the crappy marks of distinction events that gaijin keeps pumping out. grind events just arent worth my time.
I'm not sure what you mean by "leaderboarder SL". Were we supposed to get SL from placing high on the leaderboard? Tbh I wasn't paying attention if that's the case, I was just playing for fun.
well i didnt get anything either so idk. there was no mention of a reward anywhere on the event page so i'm pretty sure this was just an event with no reward, just for fun.
is this event really helpful for the people that are stuck in prop planes because my friend struggles alot in tier 4 and wants jets quickly so if this is the way for him to grind for a bit i will let him know
I have no clue why the US planes, who already lack the firepower to go toe-to-toe in a direct engagement, are also drafted from an entirely lower BR than the German attackers, this event is cool and all but the balance is non-existent P.S. fix B-17 damage model, gaijoobles
Really? I had a lot easier time playing US planes, the P-47D-28 has excellent high alt performance, turns pretty well, and I'd much rather have 8x .50cals than mk108s or mg151s. It was pretty clear that US teams dominated the average match, when you look at the queue, everyone was queueing for the US teams. I didn't have to try too hard to get a 5 kill game in US planes, and my friend was able to get 6 as well. Just my experience tho
I don't know man, it makes no sense that these planes would be fighting eachother, for me most of my US team gets destroyed before the bombers die, the br gap is bigger than an actual game allows.
If you mean prize, then no there wasn't any specific event prize. You still got RP/SL as if it were normal Air RB though so I did make a lot of SL playing it
