Were they harsh? That was the worst split mount I've seen in my life lol

@@gccstan31 it's not just the mount. of course, there were a lot of other deductions - balance checks and whatnot - but 6.2 doesn't make sense, even with her fall. I'm not an expert on gymnastics - far from it lol - but I saw some commentary on other uploads of her routine that might be helpful to go read for some context on people's opinions, beyond just feeling like it was unfair, if that makes sense.

@@gccstan31 Harsh means they took off more than people think they should’ve, not that she shouldn’t have gotten deducted for her mount mistake.

@@sethescope Those people are not judges and those same people thought Kara Eaker would win a gold on balance beam when everyone who has actually read the COP knew she would never medal at Worlds/Olympics. Never. Chellsie literally has form mistakes on EVERY single skill. I don't think she does a single clean skill in this entire routine. Everything has flexed feet, bent legs, lack of 180, lack of rotation, low landings. Every skill is anywhere from a 0.2-0.4 deduction. Then add in her balance checks and I'd say a 7.2 without a fall is super generous, which makes sense since it's a highly inflated domestic competition.

@@gccstan31 She usually does better on that mount, but she said she was so nervous that her leg gave out. Again remember, it is her first meet in NINE years! I might have blacked out and fainted! Lol!

@@anovemberstar I feel like, for her, the worst part is not "I fell during competition." i think the worst part is "I fell from doing an Arabian!!" lol she's such a queen. I'm glad she's going to nationals - she deserves it and I'm excited to see her full program

See her nbc interview, she was pretty satisfied with herself.

I love Chellsie too, and I have a hot take - I think her age does matter. She looks stronger than ever. I was watching some of her routines from before, and she seems way more powerful now and more confident. I think her age has made her a better gymnast, both because she has experience that only comes with doing something for a long time and because she can approach things with more intention than at least I was capable of when I was a teenager lol

I feel like that's the only reason she struggled at all -- the nerves. Even if I hadn't been watching her journey for a while now, you can clearly tell she's fully capable of doing all of her skills and doing them well. it's just nerves. and the best part about that is nerves will become more manageable in time, especially for such a seasoned competitor like this queen. she's going to DESTROY at nationals

yes this!! honestly I can't imagine how jarring it would be to not just be competing for the first time in a while but with all of the lights. maybe it's just because I get migraines and bright light hurts me, but I feel like that much light would mess with you when you're trying to do such precise work

Just wondering if at tbe age which she is competing at ,could you or anyone,elese have done the same,routine any better At least ,she is making her attempt of still having the ability to compete against the much younger generations . Can truly nit knick someone,down for what she is doing .

She messed up! That’s the worst mount I’ve ever seen her do. Her mount at nationals was great!

She was also hammered because of the mount!

she only get deducted 1.0 max for her arabian landing (excluding forms). Her problems came from her splits. The mount is 0.5 for the angle + bent legs 0.3, the straddle full is 0.5 for forms (doesn't reach horizontal, uneven, and doesn't reach 180⁰), and her other splits is .1, her balance after illusion is .3 (potentially .5), not counting the pauses and other minor deductions which could add up to 3.8.
