I really hated when they never let them finish the song on those shows! Cherie, I remember this album and I want to tell you that I adopted one of the songs as an anthem..."Hit Record". I sang that every where I went for probably a year. the guys in the band I was in got mad at me, but I bet they all remember it to this day!! HAHAHA! Thanks alot for posting this...even though those guys and that show were a bit like Cheddar of Gruyere, know what I mean? Really cool to see it. thanks again.
I've listened to this song 1,000,000 times in my lifetime and I never thought of its meaning as anything other than a girl telling her would-be boyfriend that he better stop hanging around so much with his probably-up-to-no-good friends and pay more attention to her ... or he is going to lose her.
I remember watchin' this back when! When I was in Jr. High School I RAN to town & back, to the news stand, to buy copy of Crawdaddy mag which had now infamous Runaways cover-story...I've still got it... I envy bobbyvox, would love to have met Cherie
this song is great love cherie currie. I have 15 years and I feel very identified with it. is beautiful. I would love that their relationship with Joan Jett return as more than 20 years ago. do not believe ¡¡¡¡¡
This was how record execs killed off talent in the late 70s and early 80's. They had no identity or direction from their record label and it showed. A complete waste of time and Cherie did not need her sister or the over production. Both albums aren't bad at all and I know they were trying to shake the Runaways stigma, but the way they were developed and promoted was absolutely hideous. And I followed the Runaways from the mid 70's on and Cherie's first solo LP in 1978 and it's a shame what happened to them.
It was based on Cherie's book ''Neon Angel''....so it's gonna be focused on what's in the book...plus Lita's people and Fox's camp said they would sue if they were represented in a bad way...Kim Fowley wasn't even allowed on the set or invited to Sundance for the release....it's good to know the inside scoop. I know what you mean about the disappointment though. Maybe there will be another one made from a different perspective someday.
Because thats what Lita and Jackie wanted, genius! They wanted nothing to do with the movie, ESPECAILLY "Miss Fox" who threatened to SUE Joan and Floria if her name was even in the frick film! Jackie's a phsyco. It would have focused more on Sandy if she were still around (RIP Sandy♥), but if you would read Cherie's book, compared to the movie, you would see that when Floria Sigismondi wrote the screenplay, she used her "rights" (to the story) the wrong way, and jacked everything up as well.
LOL, Shanana? I was so into that album, how did I miss this performance until now? And as for the movie being based on Cherie's book? I've read it several times, and the movie doesn't even stick with her account. I thought it sucked as well, and her book is your better bet.
Uh, gee, Idk, I've only seen interviews where Lita talked(or refused to) talk about it, and that she did not want them to use her back story.I've also read what Jackie had to say about it, she didn't even want her NAME in the movie, hence why the bassist became "Robin Robins". It was very well known she threatened to sue Joan over it. Try doing some research!(; That tends to help.
i guess sha na na really could be a credible, seventies-style rock band when they wanted to be, instead of being a kitschy throwback to the fifties. (assuming what we are hearing actually IS the sound of sha na na backing up the curie sisters.)
i've never understood the context of this song. is it about a woman giving sisterly advice to a younger female ("stop messin with the boys--they don't mean a thing to you.") or is the song from a male point of view, a man telling his girlfriend to stop messing with other "boys." or is the context of the song a lesbian relationship--a woman telling her lover to be faithful to her and to stop messing around with members of the opposite gender. and i don't get that "spending money and girls" line.
@littlewing1975 One black dude and one extremly funny bald guy, it has to be Sha na na! I thought why do the have a old bald dude with the curries first!
The movie sucked because it only focused on Joan and Cherie. Didn't say shit about Lita or Miss Fox, the bass player. They deserved a decent movie and they got 'shit'.
