Before Europeans arrived on this continent, our Cherokee ancestors inhabited the southeastern woodlands for thousands of years. Our ways of life looked very different from today's, rooted heavily in nature and taking care of the world we lived in.

Wado. I don't have a clan, because I was born from the male line, from my grandfather. Did have a dream of wolves.

Whoever the mother is of your grandfather and whatever her clan is, that is your clan. When following the traditional clan structure, it is not possible for an individual to not have a clan. There is no clanless. Everyone gets to belong somewhere. This also includes individuals who marry into the tribe. They will end up in a clan that is not their spouse’s clan.

Book, Gloryland a novel by Shelton Johnson. Talks about vision at the mound and the grass and wet water and the woman coming out of the ground and so much love and peace that went with him when he left

Every time I hear or read about european taking indigenous women it breaks my heart, I don't understand, how is it possible now that we know what happened they still have the audacity to brag about the horrible events of a genocide.
