dont care if its mushy or whatever, just want them to be silent as possible, at any cost. to me the stock silent red sounds more silent than lubed red switches.

Very short but informative video, thank you! I think the red silent sound a bit mushy, but I only tested red normal in real life. If someone thinks normal red sounds nice but a bit too loud or onboxious, you should try brown switches. They're almost the same but brown is overly softer in my opinion.

@@MattieKB I've tested some switches on many different keyboards and overall I liked brown better, sound and feeling wise. Maybe if they're on the exactly same keyboard they sound very alike but just my experience (I'm no professional btw haha)

Insane that silent switches are still obscenely loud. You’d think there’s a market for keys that feel nice to press but aren’t doing to disrupt a meeting or disturb a roommate.

The keyboard i used for many years used brown switches which are more of a quiet/silent type with a tactile bump. I really enjoyed them but my keyboard literally just died on me so I'm in the market for a replacement. I think I'm leaning towards the corsair k70 rbg TKL. I've always had a fullsize keyboard but idont think i will miss out on the keypad so i want to try TKL. the only thing is this keyboard doesnt have the option for brown switches so ive gotta choose between Reds/Silents/Speed switches. I'm probably going to get the silents but I need to see what the speeds are like.

The actual noise is not from the switch, it's from you bottoming out the keys. Buy some o-rings to halt key travel.

I need a silent keyboard too because I work from midnight to dawn. Many people say the red switch sounds silent, after I tried it it turned out it was still too noisy. It's quite difficult to find silent-red switches in my country, so I opted to go back to the rubber dome and regret it. lol I'll try the silent-red switch later.

@@Paraclef If you are looking for a silent switch, you can try Akko Haze Pink or Gateron Silent Yellow. The quality and durability of Akko is better, when I used Gateron, some switches started double typing within a month, maybe bad QC or factory defect.

The best keyboard layout I've ever used is the G610. I wish someone copied that layout with Cherry MX Silent Red keys, I would be a happy person.

my Fnatic gear rush came with silent reds. it also has a quite thick steel plate so it's a very quiet kb. shame they don't sell it anymore, it was like 80 bucks, I'd recommend it to everyone

Hate to say it but I'm still going to prefer o-rings. The feel you get from Cherry Blue with o-rings almost completely transforms the experience, cutting about 1mm off the keytravel means the "click" is almost at the bottom of the keystroke now and actuation feels much more rapid by eliminating key throw after actuation, and with a rubber bottom your fingers "bounce" off the keyboard which I think improves typing speed.

The squishy feeling of silent reds makes it a bad choice imo. I prefer lubed red switches. They’re quieter and smoother.

lubed red switches, that i´ve watched from youtube, dont sound as silent as silent reds to me. ive watched akko radiant red switch lubed video, gateron red switch lubed, rk red switch lubed. none of them are as silent as stock silent red switches to me.

as a user of mx silent red in corsair k70 for 6 years, I must say that everything depends on the design of the keyboard. The k70 silent switches are not that quiet at all, you can hear the metallic ping transmitted through the aluminum construction. I totally agree that they give an uninteresting squishy feel

Smh, people seriously thinking the silent reds are loud should lower the volume. Recorded typing does not sound the same as real typing. It's amplified in the recording.

This video actually brought me to the decision to buy the Asus ROG Strix Scope Deluxe with Silent Red switches, and if typing sure is soothing and silent like that, they're definitely a good alternative for ordinary Cherry MX Red switches.

The trick with red switches is to be able to type with reasonable accuracy and speed without violently bottoming out the keys, if you lube the stabilizers on any red switch keyboard, put some foam in it and type with some restraint you can make it sound very office appropriate. The silent reds sound pretty awful to type on and do not accomplish anything that the above mods cannot.

olá Mattie K.B. , eu tenho um teclado corsair k70 lux , com os switchs da cherrey mx red , com a luzes dos leds azuis , algumas dessas luzes de leds vieram a apagar com o tempo .notei que no seu video os seus switch não tem leds minha duvida é como eu posso substituir esses switchs ou esses leds?

normalmente os leds são do teclado, não tem relação nenhuma com os switches. Não sei como você pode repara-lós, mas pode ver se seu teclado ainda está na garantia e ver se pode trocá-lo.

@@Cezimbragamer obrigado pela resposta , já consegui fazer substituição dos leds com defeito , não deu muito trabalho mas tive que desolar os switches da PCB do teclado (o real trabalho foi descobrir o led correto e o tamanho de 3mm ) ,agora esta tudo lindo como se fosse um novo teclado :)
