In 2016, I up-loaded this performance, which was taken from my collection of off-the-air VHS recordings. I only recently found out that there was a picture freeze and audio dropout in Paul Yandell's solo during the performance of "Dance With Me", which must have occurred when I made the tape-to-digital transfer. The VHS cassette is long gone; but, I was able to find an upload of just that tune and "borrowed" a small piece of it to patch over the freeze and dropout.
My first post had been viewed over 96,000 times.

Chet. What can you say? What a player the world lost. Thankfully we still have these performances and his many recordings.

This performance from Austin City Limits is from Season 7 in 1982. You can see that this was the season that they debuted the Austin skyline backdrop. The closing credits show the fun and wacky things the crew was doing while filming the show. I like that they showed the crew having fun because it makes sense for them to be enjoying themselves while they're working on such a great show. It also makes me wish I could work with people like this. Carey Spreen brings the fun in this picture. He's wearing a 10-gallon hat and a striped shirt while getting videotape all over himself. I hope they gave him a bonus for that performance! In this photo, Terry Lickona, Carol Patton Cornsilk, and Susan Caldwell show why they were three of the key people who made Austin City Limits the iconic show it is today. They all look like they are having a lot of fun, which makes me wish I could work with people like this. I really love these behind-the-scenes photos of Austin City Limits. Everyone looks happy and like they’re having fun, which makes me wish I could work with people like this. In this particular photo, the camera is zooming in on Bill Celaya, and I love the look on his face. He’s clearly in his happy place. In another, Bob Selby and Ray Lucero pose next to the lighting they set up for the show, and in yet another, Michael Emery stands with other crew members sitting around. These photos give a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into making a television show. It’s really cool to see the technical expertise that goes into producing a quality TV program like Austin City Limits. This shot of Steve Bittick and Bill Grimes is such a fun glimpse of the goings-on backstage at Austin City Limits. Everyone looks happy and like they’re having fun, which makes me wish I could work with people like this. In the background, you can see the other members of the crew getting the stage ready for the performance. It’s really cool to see a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into making a television show. This photo is so cute. He looks really happy. It's great to see a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into making a television show. Augie Kymmel looks like she’s in a good mood in this picture. She’s reading a book while talking on the phone and wearing a cute striped shirt and white pants. The photo gives a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into making a television show. It’s really cool to see the technical expertise that goes into producing a quality TV program like Austin City Limits. This video is from the Austin City Limits performance by Chet Atkins with special guest Jethro Burns. This show was originally aired in 1982. There are a lot of great behind-the-scenes photos in this video, and I love seeing how the show is put together. The picture of Bill Arhos and Howard D. Gutin chatting on their phones is such a fun glimpse of the goings-on backstage at Austin City Limits. Everyone looks happy and like they’re having fun, which makes me wish I could work with people like this. I also like the picture of the empty stage. No instruments, no band members, no audience. Just the stage, the lights, and the Austin skyline backdrop. You can really see all the hard work that goes into making a television show. 👍

This performance from 1982 is a trip down memory lane for anyone old enough to remember it. If you’re looking for a nostalgia fix, this is the video for you. The setlist includes a bunch of hits from the 70s and 80s and even a few oldies from the 50s and 60s. For a little bit of context, this is the 7th season of Austin City Limits, when they debuted the Austin skyline backdrop. That year, the music world lost Marty Robbins, Lightnin' Hopkins, and Thelonious Monk. But it wasn’t all bad news. George Strait had a #1 hit, and Roger Miller won a Tony award.👍

I saw this show when it first played on National Public Television. The mostly unsung hero was Paul Yandell who played with Chet for over 25 years. Chet once said, if I remember correctly, that Paul could play everything that he could!! Now that's a compliment!!!🙂 In 2011, Chet's daughter bestowed on him the last Certified Guitar Player award and said there would be no more allowed by the Atkins estate.

He made a lot of mistakes and was the reason outlaw country was successful because he was against it. He didn't want Elvis to make Gospel recordings. Until E sold more gospel records than Chet's best country artists at the time.

Chet and Jethro weren't just related with their musical careers, they were brothers-in-law. Chet married Leona Johnson, Jethro married Lois Johnson. In the 40's they were a singing duet out of Cincinnati, "The Johnson Twins."

Chet has been a central figure in my family for many decades, since 1872 or so I believe.... Anyways, my father always told me Chet was his favorite so I caught on real quick. I last spotted him in Portland Maine playing with the PSO and we loved it. All respect and props to the authentic Certified Guitar Player.

I wish somebody would put a 4k of this program on You Tube. I recorded the original show on PBS long ago straight off the TV. That was in the 70's or 80's. I copied it to DVD. I still have the original VHS tape from PBS. I dubbed it to DVD
