Chevrolet Cobalt Blower Motor Removal 

Whoever designed that needs to be slapped around and fired.

I had to change the fan in my 2007 Cobalt. Something I found out (accidentally) which was helpful, is to put the car with the windows up in the sun all day long. Get the car as hot as you can. Mine was probably 120+F. Before starting, open all of the doors for ventilation. When the plastic housing is hot, it is much easier to cut with a utility knife. Using a brand new blade, I got through mine in about 5 minutes, tops. The plastic was hot and thereby, soft and the blade went through it easily. Hope that helps.

My blower motor in my 2007 G5 suddenly stopped. I watched this and thought "Oh sh!t, this is gonna be a b!tch!." I lucked out, just had to clean up the contacts in the wiring harness and on the motor. Thanks for sharing this though, in case I ever have to do the entire job.

What is that lil blue piece u took off because wen I push that it comes on but wen I let it lose it go back off Could that piece be the problem

That fan looks almost brand new, that car cant be very old. If this style becomes a norm, you may have to make a tool. A short hacksaw blade with the end formed into a knife and the other end a handle, cut the start slot and hacksaw round the slot, perhaps lol.

Why is he having to cut around it to take it out? They should have just used bolts or screwed it in. 🙄🙄🙄

We found it easier to use a steak knife to remove the heater fan motor.

i got it out, but then the cap on the housing is held on with plastic nubs, not a screw. How did you get the cap off to put the motor in?
