job I have a 2014 chevy cruze rs and it runs great it has 199,558 miles and I drive it 45 miles back an 4 a day and I feel like at any moment I will have to buy a new engine for it, it deserves it
I have a 2015 Chevy cruze and i got mine at the dealership with 69'000 miles on it so I fixed the issues on my Chevy Cruze myself Now it runs super and strong economical car. Later in the future I will be adding an cold air intake on the Cruze.
Awesome job. I wish my 2011 Eco made it to 187746km. Mine cracked a piston at 42000 miles. Common defect in the 2011 and 2012 models that Chevy has not recalled. I swapped the engine with a 2014 and a new clutch. That one had a smoking issue that got really bad after 10000 miles. Needs a 3rd engine at only 53000 miles. I also had the chirp but it was the crank seal when under vacuum from the engine. A lot of failure in not a lot of mileage for me. Water pump, engine, PCV nipple, thermostat, water neck purge nipple, valve cover diaphram, 2nd engine, battery.
If you keep up on the maintenance these cars are amazing. I have over 200k on mine all original engine and tranny. Run Mobile1 Extended Performance synthetic oil every 10k-12k miles on oil change, and 93 octane only and you won't have issues. Coolant leak issues really are the only issues it has and they are all very easy 5-20 minute fixes, and very cheap also. I keep that hose from the water outlet to the expansion bottle on hand in my trunk as it has blown 3 times, and takes 2 minutes to swap when it does. Costs only $15 so it stays with my spare tire. I also have a lifetime warranty on the purge valve as it goes about every 50k miles and starts sputtering and surging when it goes. I just pull up to autozone yank it off. Walk in get new one and it's good all within 5-10 minutes very easily. That includes waiting for them to get the part in back and all. Those two things fix most of your issues. But if you run the good oil and gas you won't have issues with this car. Also, good iridium plugs, and msd ignition coil.
Just threw the timing belt on my 2013...did the full replacement of the belt according to spec. Bought the cam lock and everything. Finished the job and NADA CAR sounds like everything's just spinning like the starters got no gears on it just a mean whirring sound when you bump the ignition. I'm being told it "can't be fixed " so here's to a full engine swap!!
I just bought a 2014 chevy cruze turbo. It’s had the head gasket, turbo and timing chain replaced. It seems to be getting low compression and has a oil leak on passenger side near dash at the bottom. I gave all the money I had for the car and I’m afraid I’m in over my head. Any thoughts? Interested in buying it?
@JoElla Hensley mine is 2016 turbo have they same leak problem. I will advice you to send it to the shop and let’s them look at it cause mine ended up costing some big bucks cause I turn it down but hopefully I will have no problem with it again. And I will say send that to Chevy service department or Chevy dealership cause those local mechanic won’t find what’s the issue . They will say this and fix it but that won’t work my local shops can’t find issues on mine they always telling me some lies .
Sent mine to LKQ, got $850 for it. Had I got a new engine, it probably would only have been worth 2-3k, about the amount for the engine and labor. Kinda wish I kept it and dropped a V8 in it😂. At least a 4.8
I am in a similar situation I have a 2014 1.4L manual with no compression in cylinder 2. Did you run into any problems swapping the manual trans to the new auto motor? I can find a lot more donor motors from automatic than I can manual. Any info would help thanks!
Nope no issues, engines are the same. Just have to swap over the clutch and flywheel to the new engine. Also gotta make sure you use the manual transmission wiring harness.
I have a 2011 that’s overheating. The coolant disappears and there’s no leaks under it nor smoke coming from the exhaust pipe but I took it to a mechanic and they told me it has a blown head gasket. This current engine is a replacement for the one the car had when I bought it. Now I’m looking to replace the replacement engine again 😂😂😂😂
Nice Vid!.very informative. I have a chevy sonic 1.8L MT 5 speed. with 160,000 miles on it. I maintain it and drive it with TLC. My throwout bearing is whining but so far no drivability symptoms. Do you think it can be pulled like yours from the top?
@@bradenrein thanks Braden. I will do it soon. I would hate to drop it from the bottom. Thanks again. I love how this car is engineered and so easy to fix except for the throwout bearing but it needs to be changed before I can't shift anymore.
Half this video was you waving your hand around at the engine while the music played. I get the sense that you were talking during that part and not just giving us a hand waving display, but your music is the only audio lol
Another great video. I know you mentioned that one car you were going to do with the front bumper on, but I noticed in the time lapse that it appears that the bumper cover was removed. Did you remove the intercooler, rad, and fans all as one assembly? I watched one video here on youtube with a 1.4L where they pulled the turbo off the front, and got it out, yet it looked tight. Looks like bumper is just clipped in, but dealing with the fans, rad, intercooler, and AT cooler for the AT, might be a can of worms, but I'm thinking a lot easier since you can fully dress the engine before going back in? Great content..
I removed front bumper so I wasn’t dealing with leaning over it, also easier access to the radiator drain plug. When I do pull the engine, boost tubes and rad hoses are disconnected, but I left AC compressor hooked up so I didn’t need to refill the system afterwards, so that’s why I didn’t pull them out. But yes, the intercooler, radiator, condenser, and fan all come out as one assembly
I had won with low compression on one cylinder... Is running the same way... You'd have to pump the hell out of the Pedal... Which slowly slowly slowly go up and then it would Is rev up... As long as you Weren't in gear... Come to find out the compression wasn't the problem though... It went into a limp mode..... Because The motor inside dirtied up... Had a lot of sludge in it. So.... I drain the oil.... And put mobile on fully advanced synthetic in it... And I let it run a couple hours in the garage.... Gotten it when it was really hot... Encycled the throttle for a little bit... I drained the oil while it was hot... Put New oil in... After the 3rd oil change.... new spark plugs.. And a computer reset...... Up and running awesome again.
hello braden greetings !!!! I really like your videos I am subscribed to your channel ...... your videos are driving me to learn mechanics but I do not have a plan to do it, can you help me oh give some tips to learn mechanics? ??
Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Also RU-vid is turning into one of the best resources for how to. Forums are also a great place to learn. Best thing I can say is to not be afraid to jump right in and try it
A millennial that knows anything about a car!! Shouldn't you be playing with your cell phone all day? Well I'm impressed. Hope to see more vids you make. Good job on this one. Sounds like your from Canada, eh?
I’ve had three now, all with the 1.4T, and they never get up to temp or hardly warm while idling so it’s totally normal if that’s what you’re referring to. As far as driving goes, if they don’t have some sort of winter front blocking air flow then they take forever to warm up while driving. And as soon as you stop driving you can watch the temp gauge drop. So yes these cars are just not built for extreme cold conditions unfortunately. Best you can do is invest in a good command start and build some sort of winter front. Or figure out a way to add a coolant heater
I have a blue 2012 LT RS that just hit 150k. I bought it brand new. It's been a good car for 9 years. The only part of the car I dislike is the 1.4 engine. When the engine goes I'm going to make it into a project car. I like the car too much to sell and I'd get nothing for it anyway. The wife wants to turn it into a rally car. I want to build a Holden Ute out of it...
