Excellent step by step process. I purchased this vehicle recently and found your video to be one of the best tutorials. Thanks for the video close ups and hard work. The pick is the perfect tool for the wiring clamps!

Thanks so much! I had oil down in my plugs and needed to replace the valve cover on my 2012 1.8L LS Chevy Cruze. My Cruze has been a fantastic car with NO problems over 11 yrs of ownership. Really love the 6 speed stick.

Thanks for the video. Any issues since installing this valve cover? Want to go OEM but $300 vs $100 for this one. If you didn't have issues with this one, i'll take your word and buy and install this one instead. Thanks!

I just got a 2011 chevy cruze 1.8 and experienced a loss of power during high speeds and would blow off huge amount of smoke in the exhaust pipe and ruff idle. When i turned off the engine it would go back to normal. Do think it’s also tye pcv cover that i should replace?

@firstlast---
@firstlast--- Год назад
Having the same issue it's hard to duplicate. And it's very intermittent. Going to replace the cam cover and pcv hose with oem parts and see if that fixes it. What else could it possibly be? If it was a mechanical issue it would be burning oil all the time

hey mate, did you add rtv to the corners even though you had the gasket. i heard that you shouldn't use rtv and a gasket at the same time. would it affect anything. i want to do it to be extra safe with the corners
@s33therfan
@s33therfan 9 месяцев назад
I would put a little rtv in the corners and run a light bead up the curvature. It does not take much at all. Thank you for the question.

My pcv hose is also being stubborn when connecting to the port on the valve cover. You used a silicon paste to get it connected. Can you give me any tips, so I know it is on correctly attached. It comes off too easily after installation.
@s33therfan
@s33therfan Год назад
It should snap on , but it may take a lot of force. Worse case there may be a deffect with the spout . You might try comparing to the old one. Thanks for the question.

@@s33therfan I bought a kit of removal sockets and I've been able to give a slack to the screw. Now I'm gonna be ok to buy a new cover and do the job. But tell me, there's no way this 2011 model was in such a good shape when you filmed this video last year! Mine is a 2014 and everything is so rusted in there!! I mean either this car didn't run very much or the climate is warm and dry where you live.

So i swapped the valve cover for the one on amazon. Torqued everything to spec. The pcv hose snapped but I tapped it up and ensured it was sealed nicely. Now blue smoke comes out on heavy acceleration. I grabbed the gasket from the amazon cover and threw it on the original valve cover and the same thing happens! Any idea what it can be?? 2016 cruze limited, 1.8L with 170k kms

@@s33therfan It ended up being the valve cover lol I guess my amazon special died prematurely. Used a new OEM valve cover and no more issues, except for a faint oil odour, even though I don't see any leaks since replacing.

@@s33therfan I saw that video right before this one. I believe it was the one that you've replaced its orange membrane, the one where you heated and broke part of the valve's cover while you were removing it, and then used a type of glue to fix it. Mine is different than that (same as in this video). By the way, my car is a Daewoo Lacetti Premier 2009 (a Chevy Cruze with the Daewoo logo).

I appreciate the information , I was not aware of these cars. I have replaced the transmission in this Cruze 1.8l also. Seems I remember something with the pressure switches on the techm . @s33therfan
@s33therfan 3 месяца назад
Well if it is not old residual oil from the old gasket it does not make sense. It could be a deffective gasket or it slipped out of place during the install slightly. I would get a new gasket and just do it over. Wish I could be more help.

Yes! Mine ended up being the transmission control module. Dealer wanted 2k installed and programed. I bought one on ebay and installed myself. Had it towed to dealership with my roadside assistance so they could program, which should only be 1 hour labor charge. After all said and done I spent 650 bucks and runs like a champ again.
