You should join the forums. You will see catch can posts a lot. The catch can is super popular with the equinox and terrain. I never heard of one till I bout my equinox. I don’t have a coolant change video yet. I will probably be doing one next summer. I ran out of time this year with too many video requests.

@@BillOfAllTrades2016 nice and I had to change out the VVT solenoid last year and that’s when I thought about doing the catch can. It’s for my wife’s suv as I don’t drive it but I just do all the maintenance on it for her.

@Timothy sipes what do you mean not always… the equinox and terrain DO always have the port hole in the intake manifold. Please do some research or elaborate on your comment.

Understandable. Unfortunately it’s only accessible through the manifold as shown in the video. No other method can gain access.

The pcv hose coming off will not activate your CEL. I’ve modified mine with a catch can and the cheap hose it came with keeps popping off but I never have a CEL. how firm did the connector click into place? If it’s loose enough to come off again it would beneficial to replace the hose. As for your P0014 code, I would suggest removing both vvt solenoids and cleaning them like I did in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iZ_OG0LROYQ.html I hope this helps. That could cause a vacuum leak if the rubber is too loose. Amazon has the whole hose with fittings and rubber for very cheap. I bought a replacement last year and replaced the whole hose. Hope this helps. Please like and subscribe

No they won’t. The original pcv line collects water and it freezes after the vehicle is not running. The catch can collects that water keeping the hoses dry. So the contents in the can may freeze but the hoses stay free of water

That sounds like a lazy mechanic or an uneducated one. I would find a better trained mechanic. As for preventing this from happening in the future I would follow the steps in my pcv cleaning video to clean the small pcv hole in the intake manifold. It will keep your hose clear. Also when temperatures start to drop you can perform a pcv test to see if your pcv system is clogged. All you need for the test is some duck tape and a screw. That’s usually a piston ring issue. Have you had the ring updated? It is very common in the equinox as well as the terrains. If you’ve failed the pcv system you need to clean the small hole in the intake manifold as it is most likely clogged. it would be a good idea to replace the small o-ring to make sure there is a proper seal

I’m guessing that your pcv hole in the intake is clogged so you have a bunch of blow by. You should have been notified by the dealer about a tsb/special coverage on this exact issue. You may also want to talk to a lawyer as well. TSB 14882

TSB only covers 2010-2014 equinox models. He has a 2017. Therefore they wouldn’t notify him of anything and a lawyer would not be able to help. Why would you use oil or silicone grease to try and clean the pcv that had a buildup of oil. That makes no sense at all. That’s like using vegetable oil to wash your greasy pots and pans in the kitchen. Please think of what you are advising.

Unless he was talking about the engine cover and plastic intake hose box rubbers maybe, i just greased them so it's easy to pop cover off cause i already snapped my wifes ford fusion cover being rough when it was cold and stuck lol smh so I learned that lesson

Yeah I am sure you know if there is oil that pours out of that pipe when you take it loose from the throttle body most likely the orifice is clogged up.

All good. Just a misunderstanding. This is especially important in the winter because you may think that there is no water. But it’s actually frozen ice. A catch can is the best solve for this one. There is no valve to change. And replacing the hose will not fix anything. You have to clean the hole in the manifold

Best we can do is move forward and maintain our vehicles the best we can. Also the whining about gm is getting a little stale now. If someone hates gm that much then maybe trade in for a different brand.
