People love to hate the 2.7T but our 2019 Silverado 2.7 just turned 60k miles with no problems. It's pulled a 26ft camper cross country from Ohio to Utah, up and over the Eisenhower Pass in Colorado. It then pulled that same camper from Utah to Oregon through the mountains of Nevada. It pulled a loaded P38 Range Rover on a dolly and a bed full of tools and a set of 5 wheels and tires Cross Country once again with no issues. It's also hauled a skid steer and trailer. It's been cross country 6 times; to Wall Drug, Mt. Rushmore, independence Rock, all over Las Vegas, and through downtown Los Angeles, through Nevada, to Area 51. It's been through the deserts, and climbed mountain passes. All around Portland, and up to Mt. Saint Helen's. We've explored unimaginable places. Our Silverado is a part of the family. ❤

How could that ever be possible. In 2014 my 2012 GM Chevrolet 1500 long bed couldn't get 50,000 miles before the transmission and engine warning indicator couldn't work together and traveled as fast as a funeral procession the warranty was about to expire and the dealership extorted $200.00 from me because they claim that the voltage was low. I guess The Dealership Service Dept. had a specific #1 rule Never Ever under any circumstances use a battery charger to recharge a GM product, that ruins the service Mark-up opportunity. So they told me, blah, blah, blah, give us $200.00 dollars or we will call a couple goons from Detroit and Shreveport to come here and break your legs and take your money regardless of how ever unethical it seems to be and you will be in the hospital for twenty years on a life support machine which by the way was made by GM and you have to pay for that too buddy lol. So they showed me the pinion gears shredded that came from a different GM product and claimed that it came from my truck and that since I couldn't prove that it wasn't because they wouldn't allow me to visually watch them remove the Pinion gears because of some BS that vehicle owners couldn't be in the service area due to their liability policy which was more BS. They still billed me for their work at $7896.52 and told me that they contacted their main headquarters in Detroit and falsely informed them my warranty had expired. Now someone tell me if that was fair. Should I contact a lawyer? If so what kind of lawyer? Should I report them to the BBB, Federal Trade Commission? How about Morgan & Morgan law firm? Could they help?

I have a 2022 Silverado with the 2.7, I traded an F-150 with the 2.7 EcoBoost for this Chevy and the Chevy blows the Ford out of the water. I’ve had 5.3 Chevys, 2 Ford 2.7’s, and a Ram Cummins and this Chevy 2.7 acts much more like the Cummins than a gas engine. What you don't get in this motor is the Diesel MPG. It will feel great because turbo motors are fun. Problem is this motor will always be on boost with the lightest of trailers and the gas mileage will crater. 3.0l Duramax is where it is at if you need it to work. The 2.7l will be fun if you want a light truck to play with.
@docholliday7548
@docholliday7548 Год назад
And...what you don't get is the diesel premium to the cost of the truck. I love a diesel but FEW ppl need that power, and for a $5-10k+ premium to the cost of the truck, well, that's a LOT of gas.
@Thejmhinkle
@Thejmhinkle Год назад
@Doc Holliday I'll take the up front penalty to have the better driving experience. I'd take the 2.7 over the V8 options, but not the 3.0D. if you have 2 engines to choose from, what would you pick? 1) - 383 ft lbs of torque generated @ 4,100 rpm w/ a 9,000 lb tow rating? 2) - 430 ft lbs of torque generated @ 3,000 rpm w/ a 9,000 lb tow rating? Both run on 87 octane gasoline, per owners manual. The higher revving less torque choice is 5.3 V8. The Duramax diesel built forged crank 2.7 Turbomax w/ 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty is the one to pick.

It sounds like you don't need the power. The 5.3L is only better when you rev it out past 4000rpm. The 5.3L makes 381lb of torque at 4100rpm. The L3B 2.7T does that at 2000rpm and peaks at 430lb at 3000rpm. The 2.7T is the low RPM power king.

Stick with the 5.3. Its tried and true engineering designed before chevy got bad. Other than obvious lifter issue, its is similar design. Dont be fooled, no little turbo 4 is going to last as long as a v8. It might have it slightly beat on power, but if you want power, get the 6.2. Just my opinion and im no expert. Except no EV is going to drive 800 miles in 12 hours because you have to stop for a long time to recharge the battery, if you can find a charging station, and if you do find one you'll pay more for the charge than for gasoline or diesel. Also those EV require heavy batteries which reduces the weight you can haul or tow unless the suspension is heavy enough to handle the loads and then ride quality suffers.

I had a 2008 Silverado 1500 which would not accommodate a Fisher 8 foot steel snowplow. It would only allow a pretend "homeowner" plow. I ended up getting rid of the truck for a 2012 Silverado 2500 with a 6 liter gas engine, so I could put a real snowplow on it. I am tired of 10 mpg (less when pushing a snowplow) and would like to go back to a 1500, but don't know if the new ones, despite the much ballyhooed engine, will accept a real snowplow. I guess that I should contact Fisher to see.

As the owner of a 2023 Silverado with the 2.7 turbo I’m shocked to hear people say they like this truck. Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t had any mechanical issues with the truck and it tows my camper trailer well. I absolutely hate the way this truck drives! It has “a lot” of turbo lag from a dead stop. You keep pressing the gas pedal and nothing is happening, then it lunges into traffic. Also it’s always “in-gear” like it is in tow hall mode, so it never will coast when you let off the gas pedal. Kinda harsh downshifts when ever you let off the gas. And the brakes feel horrible! There is a slight delay in the braking that slowly goes to the point that you have pressed the brake pedal. I’ve never been very fussy about the way my vehicles drive. Just happy if they are running and not breaking down too much. But this thing feels way over engineered and I will be trading it in for something els in the near future. If you are interested in getting one of these trucks, do yourself a favor and give it a real thorough test drive first or rent one first
