I wish you had the parking brakes going to the right way. It would have been easier to picture on mine. Loved the detail and the explanation. Great job!
Also by the way I made another video. It's about 3 minutes long it's not too long. It shows the floor the driver side floor work i'm doing, I No my videos aren't that great but it's something to check out take care
I’m telling ya those things are the devils concoction ! 4 fingers and a thumb on each hand but if our nose could become another hand when needed … drum brakes are one of those times it’d be handy ! 😂. Great video and informative as always ! Take care John !
Just did drums on the back of my f150 in the fall. There were less peices but looked just as aggravating as these do. I dont think I could have filmed my self with out some censors lol. You are amazing at what you do and very informative!
Hi, I just did my drums all around, all Gm stuff. Back brakes no problem, front ones with the adjuster all the way in, the drums went on too tight. With a mask on, I kinda sanded the linings to get everything to fit just right. I wanted to go with disks, but my experience with them is that after a while, they warp to the fact that once you brake, they seem like they are out of round and shake the steering. I owned many heavy duty trucks and they had drum brakes. Once well adjusted, they perform to my liking. Keep them videos coming!
Thanks! Drums work great until you’re under long term braking and then gas builds up between shoe and drum causing brake fade. I drag raced for years with drums. As long as you know how to drive with them it’s fine.
I did that on my Nova. Unfortunately I also have larger 10 by two and a half inch drums made up from a Gran Torino shoe and Ford Explorer drum on the 9-inch rear end gave me just a little too much brake in the back. We're just barely locks before the front added a Wilwood brake pressure adjustable valve. I also have a 76 K20 that I added the smaller diameter master cylinder to achieve the same goal.
Has anyone noticed this backing plate assembly is a left unit side that has been installed on the right ? The emergency brake cables should point to the front and the secondary (larger) shoe goes on the rear.
Take a look at Muscle Car Brakes, they sell ceramic brake shoes that they claim 2 to 1 better stopping power than the part store brake shoes. They sell drums and the other accessories as well. Muscle Car Brakes all one word all small case followed by a period then the word complete but just the first 3 letters of complete. Sorry about the code way I had to write that but if I didn't yt would of deleted my comment! I have heard good things about the ceramic shoes, as good as aftermarket disc and better than factory disc brakes. If that's true, the 2 to 1 better stopping power they claim is probably is better than the factory disc setup? Great video but I wasn't a fan of the background music, it made it hard to hear what you were saying. It's not as bad when you're not talking though if you want it in there?
