John, Thanks for posting this video, going to help out a lot of Nova owners out there! I plan on seam sealing the short trim back on since my clips are broken and not usable. New clips are availble but cost $20 + ship and tax each. Thanks again!!!
OMG! Finally someone has a good video on this. Thanks a whole heep man! I have to do this on my 70 to install a set of polished trim. At least now I know what to do on the quarter windows. Hopefully you get to show how to install the trim on the doors one day. Love the channel.
The trim stripe has plastic clips that have a hole that has a narrow slot in it that the "pins" ( I call them that because I don't remember the exact term for them) will hold the trim in place on. I've seen them get removed, but the plastic clips get brittle and easily come apart, so most people take them off and leave them off. Normally if you're taking them off, a tap from a rubber mallet underneath the trim pushing up will dislodge it. Like I said though, they're easy to break.
I originally thought that trim was press fit, but I'm glad you made this video, because finding out it's screwed on saves a LOT of headaches and money.
You want to do a hard one to change, 67 Chevelle 300 deluxe rear window, what a Pain in the Butt, Theres a steel Casing that go's around a steel cage in rubber, then the new window rubber go's into that,What a time I had getting that to look nice, I have done lots of Nova's Oldsmobiles, and Buick rear windows,, Really It all matters how you feel for that day Hard will sometimes go easy, Some Easyone are a Pain Mine set Means everything. when working on cars.
I know where a 72 Nova V8 car it has a big block heater core in it. Don’t think 72 come from factory with BBC car has title dude wants $1500 but I can almost bet he’d take less. It’s in Knoxville TN if interested message
Hey, great video my question is are the doors done the same way? I just ordered all the anodized trim for my car I already removed the trim around the windows after watching, still waiting on delivery of the new parts, so on the doors do they come apart or does the new trim for over it or what? Thanks for your input.great channel.
@Shop209 thanks for the reply, to be clear the car has the regular painted trim from the factory, I boughtvthe stainless to put on in place of the plain trim if that helps. Thanks
I’m the guy who painted Mike in Floridas 71 Nova (the marina blue with pearl one) , I didn’t see any screws on his all it had was an aftermarket slip that went in between the body and the window… is that right or do I need to put screws in it when I reinstall
This has nothing to do with the window buuutttt…. I have a 69 nova. I got a nice set of 71 nova fenders. There were no fenders when I bought the car. I have the original fender louvers from my 69. Do you know the measurements of where the louvers should be placed on the fenders? Any help will be appreciated
