Thanks, very helpful. I had snapped the plastic lever of the handle right off while forcing it open. I was unsure how to reassemble with my new parts (and existing remote locking components) but this video had a few clear shots of the assembly and I was able to get it first try. Bryan - 2017 gmc sierra with reverse camera and remote tailgate lock Word of advice to fellow GM/Chevy 1500 owners, DONT CRAM CARGO AGAINST THE TAILGATE, IT WILL BREAK/FAIL!

Thanks for the video! I just went to open my tailgate and heard what sounded like a plastic piece snapping. Will find out in a few minutes! Hoping I just need to bend back the tab like you did!! Update: the plastic lever part of the handle that pushes that metal piece that you bent back in your video broke.

I have a Silverado with a tonneau cover, my tailgate handle is busted and I need to know how to get into the back of my truck in order to open the tailgate so I can fix it

Looking for help! I was rear ended in my father's truck (RIP). I bought a tailgate off of someone (same one), took it to paint friend at dealership to match the color and paint it. Bless him, he and another guy installed it. They switched out the handle for the camera. That works fine. But the tailgate drops like 1980 and doesn't lock..they don't know how to fix that (paint guys) I feel like something just wasn't connected in the install..any ideas? Every video I find is removing tailgate..

Same issue with my truck. Except my tailgate won’t open. And I had a bed cover on it. I can’t retract my bedcover without letting the tailgate down 😅

So I have a box spring in the back of my bed and can’t access the panel. Any ideas?
