I'm stuck in a Walgreens parking lot because of this. Do you think it would be smart to drop the tank or go this route? Dropping the tank doesn't seem that bad. I think people think its worse than it is.
I too, want to Cut vs. Drop. The 'Pros' of cutting are obvious, Here are some of the he 'Cons' if you cut: 1) The structure is a bit weakend by cutting. But since this isn't a Uni;Body, that's probably negligible. 2) You can't totally clean out the tank, say by pressure washing. However, I suppose it's possible to use some kind of vacuum to get out anyold settlement.
Good video. I have a 2001 with 260,000 miles. Runs great. Only thing I would have done different would have blown all the debris and dust around pump to keep dirt out of tank.
Do you recall seeing an instruction sheet with the new pump? I'm talking about any kind of install setting of the float lever. After I installed my fuel pump I will get a low fuel indicator after about 250 miles and upon refueling I can determine that there was at least 8 gallons that was still left in the tank.
They must have sent the wrong pump then. When parking going downhill I get a low fuel indication. Parking uphill I get a more fuel in tank setting in the gauge. I'm suspecting.the float arm should be pointing to the side and not to the rear of tank. @@str8burbn
I know this is an older video. But do you have any idea why a burban pump would only read 5 volts to the gray power wire? My family is currently stuck on Tybee island because the car stalled out, we parked and checked fuses, got a alternator changed, didn't work, changed out swapped the relay to the Fuel pump, didn't work, changed the fuel pump on the side of the road, didn't work. My gas light comes on with a full tank and the gage is at empty. I hate electrical issues.
@@eddycollects5123smarter is drop the tank because your supposed to clean it before putting in a new pump. Your just sucking up debris from the bottom of the tank and making the pump run hotter and your gonna replace a lot of pumps. I rather do things once.
Wish that was the case I went through 3 pumps as the pickup tube kept popping off so I’d have to pull it on the side of the road hook it back up it was a nightmare. But yes if it wasn’t my shitbox I’d drop the tank 💯
