Chevy truck blows a hole through the engine!

A pickup threw a rod through the side of the oil pan while driving down the highway and I had to go pick it up. I absolutely HATE towing off the side of the highway and usually refuse to do it, but today I took the job anyways and was quickly reminded of why I always turn it down. And yes, I'm dead serious about selling the rollback

The pandemic is towing amatuer hour. No cones or markers or warnings, no flashing lights, no Hi-Vis and could of been another 10 feet at least further off the road. But instead of implementing any of his own safety he rants about the traffic that "ALL" passed by safely.

Casey here in New South Wales ( Australia) by law traffic has to slow down when emergency service vehicles have hazard lights on that includes tow trucks. But people still don’t get the fact every one wants to go to work and get home safely at the end of the day. I thought the rollback/ tilt tray was for the snow cat. This video should help highlight the dangers to people. Well at least for a second.

Here in Sweden, protective vehicles with truck mounted attenuators for protection has become mandatory at recoveries along more heavily trafficked roads like the one you did this recovery at. It does a world of difference. Of course, that puts the cost for a recovery in a slightly different bracket. And even if it's safer, it's still not a delightful working environment with cars zipping by constantly, even if you're reasonably sure they're not going to hit you.

So, 166+/- vehicles passed you from the time you turned on the roof top camera to the time you jumped back in the truck. Of ALL those vehicles, 11 changed from the right to the left lane before actually passing you, giving you a bit safer working area. Going with the best case scenario that all 11 did so because they saw a tow truck operator working on a job, that's a discouragingly low number of people who either know what to do, recognized, or even thought about the situation they were approaching to pass. Yankum should send you a bunch of knotted scrap ends in a bag for you to throw at vehicles. You could go to Austin' s and practice on his conglomeration of vehicle like objects. On a side note, that ol square body pickup actually seemed in pretty nice shape. I wonder why the engine decided to send strategic parts on an impromptu vacation, considering the owner seems to take very good care of it?

pro tip for all youtubers: probably not a good idea to make a poor business decision and then subject your youtube viewers to ten minutes of bitching. it will make you look weak and petty. better to simply state you've made a mistake and move on. should take about ten seconds as an intro to the next vid.

Haha I don't have that luxury I'm an actual professional tow truck driver who doesn't leave people stranded because what if that was your family member or wife dude how would you feel if the tow truck driver was like nope and waved and kept on driving by amd if your worried about the risk and safety you should get out of the towing industry there is always risk and dangers I've been towing for 4 yrs and almost hit 4 times that's the risk you take going out and getting people safety out of harms way your just in it for a quick easy buck that's not towing 🤣
@CaseyLaDelle

That's great, but I never had, and still don't have any intention of being a general towing company. I don't do 90% of the things that most tow companies do, and have no desire to.
