So much optimism, beauty, and community in these early 90s tech-house cuts. Always love. My 7yo daughter likes this tune too, which makes me smile bigly :D
I remember dancing to this tune with my girlfriend at the time, drunk as fuck, in our 30 story high apartment in China, overlooking the vast metropolis of downtown Chongqing. Absolutely perfect house tune. Spacy yet danceable.
Visionary techno from Detroit. A staple of my own collection. No matter how many times I play this, it always sounds fresh. Kind of why I like techno, it ages the best out of all genres of music. These cats were trying to connect to the future in the past and we here in the future. I remember somebody said that when they listen to house and techno they could hear the future of civilization on a youtube comment section for a video a couple of years back and that stuck with me for a while.
Hacienda night at Albert hall in Manchester this Friday cant wait to see Chez play man, I'm only 22 and am forever wishing the 90's could be reborn for me to experience something similar, Don't get me wrong some of todays house music is top but the 90's deffo take the top spot for the best music and venues to go with it!
mikey coyne Agreed , Don’t want to make you jealous I was born in 72 and lived&clubbed through the 90s and it was heaven on earth. You’re right some superb House music right now but the 90s takes the top spot , it laid down the foundations, great to see you’re carrying the baton on. Peace.
as someone the same age as you: please do not get caught up in this pseudo nostalgia trip shit, theres an immense amount of amazing music about now and experiences to be had (pandemic aside), the greatness of a lot of this music comes from looking to the future as much as the past after all
House music production is and will never be the same again as the early and mid nighties..take what you want and need from the hardware error my friend
I was 3 years old when this came out. So glad my parents didn't force me into a music genre. Had the honour of seeing this legend at Amnesia a few weeks back. Yaaaaassssss
Well yes, it was produced and released in 93, as 2 5-minute mixes on a compilation, you actually had to flip the vinyl to Side B at 4:57: www.discogs.com/release/1415951 So this is supposed to be 2 mixes of the same track, the first one ends at 4:57, but it works great as a 10-minute track to be honest..
***** Like I said, this has been repressed in 2011, not remastered. Slow To Speak is the label's name if it wasn't obvious. www.discogs.com/release/3257903
MrEconomist500 there are two tracks in that video, the first one stops at 4:57. on the vinyl it's 4 different versions www.discogs.com/Chez-Damier-Stacey-Pullen-Forever-Monna/release/38067
I'm 95% sure the xylophone-like sound comes from a Jupiter-6, I have that synth and one of the presets sounds like that, if you add portamento it sounds identical to the sound in this track.
