Just recieved my Angus young SG, and all I can say is, WOW!!!! One piece mahogany body, the transparent wine red finish is STUNNING!!! With some minor setup the neck, and action are perfect!!! I'm a believer! CHIBSON RULES MAN!!!! I LOVE IT ❤️

For the money the Tonerider AC2 are the best out there. I''ve tried 14 different brands in the" under $150 for a pair" category and the Toneriders are superior if your looking for a sound that's true to the early Gibson PAF's. Second place would be Wilkiinson Alnico's they are also a great choice.

i saw a review on the chibson "greeny"....its a sweet guitar but its not out of phase(martys wasnt).... it can be converted with very minor mods...swap out the 2 main leads on the neck pup...make sure its grounded properly too...and physically flip the whole thing for "the look"... not a 50grand item lol! less than 200bux and very convincing too!

Back in 1975 I had the pleasure of seeing black sabbath do the sweet leaf tour,at the long beach arena,California. they played so loud our bodies were still vibrating for a1/2 hour after the show,this was before the 120db rule,now no concert is allowed to play above 120 decibels,as soon as the lights dimmed before the show, the Bic lighters lit up the whole arena,and the joints never stopped being passed around during the whole show,you did nice job on that chibby SG it looks awesome.

Routing is not necessary to change the pickups, its only necessary if you want to use a Gibson pickguard. The quality of the version I received is outstanding. It remains my favorite player at the moment. I actually just sold the Gibson SG standard today at Guitar Center.

I believe you can remove the connectors from the wires,and then be able to pull the wires through without drilling the long hole larger,Then reinstall the connectors.They make a tool to remove the wires from the connectors,.My opinion.

You could, however the wire connection is very fragile, and you run a big risk of breaking the connection point. I was going to do that until I looked closer. I saw the can of worms and decided on the other route.

How well did the real Gibson pickguard fit the Chibson? I bought a Gibson repro guard from WD for my Chibson SG and im hoping the fitment isnt too bad.

Lots of modification. Required neck pickup cavity enlargement, (routing) and I had to enlarge the holes for the bridge on the pickguard. And of course there will be different screw holes. 11 in total. Hope this helps. In the video, towards the end, I show the extended routing under the pickguard.

@BUDGETGUITAR yeah the pickguard was my biggest concern going into this project. The guitar I was sent has the routing for 3 full humbuckers even though its a 2 humbucker guitar so I should be okay routing wise. I don't know if it's the lighting or camera angle, but to me, it looks like the bevel on the Chibson is a little bit wide, and stops a bit short of where it should. Sort of like it doesn't carry far enough through the waist of the guitar. Is it just me, or is it in fact different from the Gibson? Also, how did you confirm that the finish is nitro? I've never heard of a Chibson with a lacquer finish. Just curious, I'm not here to bash your guitar at all. If they make people happy, and they don't try to re-sell it as a legit Gibson, I have no issues with them at all. :)

I chipped a piece of the finish off by accidentally hitting it. (Near the bottom strap button) So I used the opportunity to test the chip with acetone & a q- tip. Melting is a clear sign of nitro. While poly will also do this, it would take much much longer for it to happen. Nitro will instantly melt. More and more are coming this way. It has gotten more common depending on the factory they come from. LS custom shop in China has been doing quite a bit of nitro finishes. Usually its an upcharge though. I just had a Chibby Les Paul here with a nitro finish also. Another way to tell is how the nitro settles into the grain of the guitar almost leaving grain ridges. (Another attribute of nitro over poly.) I have quite a bit of experience working with nitrocellulose, having made many mistakes with it, and correcting mistakes, lol. As far as body goes the Chibson is a bit thicker, and the taper down is not as significant. Body shape looking down from the top is so close you can't tell with the eye. The horns are the same with exception of the thickness, & finally the headstock & font size and locations are exact right down to the mm. However the holes for the tuning pegs are in a slightly different location. Hope this helps, And thanks for watching.

@@FultonStreetBeats I love nitro finishes. I love how they age, and how it fully burns into itself. Makes for very easy touch ups/repairs. I use nitro almost exclusively on the guitars I build now. It's standard unless someone requests something else. I had used waterborne lacquers for a long time, but I prefer nitro, because I never found a waterborne lacquer that actually burned into itself 100%. That's cool to hear that they're using it on their guitars now! I'm guessing that you're correct, but if you ever want to be 100% sure, you could try a few small drops of lacquer thinner in an inconspicuous area. It will melt nitro and waterborne lacquer, but does not melt a poly finish. With the constantly improving quality of what's coming from overseas, Gibson is either going to need to step up their quality control, or lower their prices. Personally, I would be quite pissed off if I purchased a new Gibson and it had finish blems like I saw in your other video. That's not cool for a 2k+ guitar! Enjoying your content on here, btw. I used 2 part automotive urethane on a couple i built, they are hard, they ring, and are more resonant than my Gibson with the almost like rubber lacquer in comparison. Maybe in several years the Gibson finish will harden up and then be good, but its almost like a dampener when they are new or fairly new...

I didn't know that the SG has a 1 piece body, but I did know that Gibson has 2 piece bodies. I agree, one piece is better than two. I have 2 Chibsons, 1 Les Paul and 1 SG. I'm not a brand name snob, though I do have 2 authentic Gibson guitars, a EVH Wolfgang Special and a Danelectro Sitar-guitar. I wish that they had real Mother of Pearl Gibson headstock logos instead of the plastic or whatever it is that they use. But that's not a deal breaker for me. I plan to get other Chibsons. On the case fit for the SG, my Chibson wouldn't fit in a Gibson case, I had to search to find one that was slightly bigger for my SG. The case I did get, the interior overall length was 41", a little more than necessary but it fit. I bought a tweed knockoff case initially only to find that it didn't fit, because I didn't pay careful attention to the measurements. The int. length was okay but the int. width was not wide enough for the body. You live and you learn. But that's okay, I can use it for another guitar in the future.

Like an Epiphone isn't a cheap chinese made gibson copy. Is it morrally right for Gibson ( and all the others ) to make super expensive domestic models and then come up with imported copies that are substandard in almost every way. The guitar companies are getting what they desrve really, they taught the chinese how to make guitars by taking away domestic jobs.

yeh I like that. I got a tele thinline hybrid w/licences floyd rose. from DHgate like you say I did some cheep mods like added 500k pots and gave it a good setup. I do agree Gibson is out of control with pricing. With that said, I don’t like the chibson fad. I’ve come across more than a few train wrecks in terms of quality. I will say your Eddie guitar was incredible though. This is a tough issue for me I always go back forth 😂

We will never get back to cheaper high quality production here in the US because every business owner wants to get rich really fast and the rich want to buy new mansion and/or mega yachts. Besides everything new build here is already mostly outsourced to everyone else. One of the biggest mistakes our country has ever made thanks to our government listening to the wealthy about their needs to get cheaper labor rates yet still charge outrageous prices for the same product. Between the wealthy elites and our government this country has been screwed up so much. Not to mention all the immigrants coming into the country bringing the culture they are trying to get away from yet at the same time complaining about our anthem, prayers in school and holidays which aren’t observed and valued and celebrated the same way they were 25-30 years ago.

There are no copyright laws in 3rd world countries.. They put a sticker over the headstock decal, and they dont advertise and sell them as Gibsons. The quality of American help lately I'd say the Chibsons are not much different. I have 2, and will all new parts in them i like them better than my real gibson. My real les paul had equal amount of issues. in reality they are all copies, there is nothing authentic about a real gibson... except the price.

I never seen the screw under my bridge on SG pro till today LMAO... When i had my two built this is what my seller told me why people get crappy Chibsons... #1 Dishonest sellers #2 they are backed up and rushing the orders and there forced to get them done or they loose there reputation in China and there taken to the bottom of sellers and replaced if they dont comply #3 its Chinese new year and all the good factory builders go home and some live hundreds of miles away while there gone they get replaced by green horn builders to replace the good guys 😂 cant believe the inlays on a USA SG WOW are they smoking dope at the factory 😂... Whilst a name cannot be copyrighted a name can be trademarked & Gibson being associated with guitars would have full power of the copyright law to have guitars that ape their name & style outlawed even if it isn't exactly the same. The materials a copyrighted name is made from isn't an argument in defence of using that trademarked name. Although I think Gibson is pretty much resting on it's laurels from decades ago issuing an outdated, flawed product for thousands of dollars, they are a company with the name that is associated with those guitars. It is pretty sad that ppl have the mentality that they produce knockoffs that use the Gibson name instead of producing guitars that pay tribute to the design - albeit a flawed, outdated design. Isn't it far better with the Fender products that that is the most copied design due to it being not only easier to produce, is a far better design, more ergonomic (ok maybe not the Tele) & is pretty much the iconic guitar that ppl think of if they were to draw a guitar from memory.

The name is definitely not important to me. It's how they sound and play. However, having something that resembles an original to me is like a novelty. If it happens to play and sound good, that's a bonus. The real crime (figuratively speaking) is selling way overpriced guitars based on the illusion of the best quality. I love them all. Just some more than others. The copyright only exists in the realm of who and what countries acknowledge it. We eventually have to accept the fact that literally 1000's come into the country every day, from the exact same manufacturers. There is a huge legal loophole for this. I am currently working on getting a UCC commerce atty on an episode to explain the crazy ins and outs. And why this has been happening for years. I already have been told. However, the legal mumbo Jumbo from him would be better than coming from me. Stay tuned. Thanks for watching..

@@FultonStreetBeats I agree that it is the quality of the guitar that is important which is why it is a great shame ppl who can make guitars well have to resort to not only copying a design (not a problem but it would be good to se some originality) they also plonk a name literally as clickbait for ppl to even consider them. Yes there are only so many shapes & styles & mixtures of woods that can be done to an electric guitar or any other instrument. I mean acoustics pretty much look all the same as they were all derived from the classical guitar, so pre conceived ideas for electrics are following the same lines & guitar players do love the "original" shapes rather than anything seemingly new in design. As for the broader question of legality of names, trademarks etc then that is pretty much all Gibson, Fender etc exist on. Companies & individuals can equal or best their best efforts & have the advantage of not having to cater to a target audience & can be flexible. The guitar you bought looks very good especially for the price you bought it at. What a shame (in my eyes) the builder decided to put the Gibson name on there instead of either leaving it blank for someone else to do that if they wanted or actually build a reputation for making quality instruments that stand on their own & as a tribute to what Gibson cannot do or refuse to do for the money. The real problem with the headstock saying Gibson is ppl would try to sell that to an unwitting buyer for actual Gibson SG money. sure ppl should check serial numbers & perhaps even send photos to Gibson or ask someone with experience of Gibson's if it is genuine or a fake. I can see a point to fake guitars with the Gibson name, a cover band where they want to be seen playing the same instruments so the headstock matters "for the look" or a person who likes the illusion of a Gibson product (which ironically could be better) for small amounts of cash in comparison to the genuine guitar.

Just a quick question. Since the chibson does not fit into the gibson case what case do you suggest for best fitment and price? Thank you.

I have several friends that have moved to china, and they have all said that the way of life (employment, cost of living etc.) is better then western europe so i don't believe the slave laybour bs. Plus i agree with Mike, nearly everything we own has chinese parts. I for one have my eye on a "chibson" sg and a brian may custom red

Funny that Gibson itself is now making a fake LP, they are copying Slashes fake Gibson les paul,that was made by some luthier in California,these chibsons are well worth the money, can any Gibson owner say that they got more than they expected,for the price they paid 😅for one,good luck with that.

I am looking for an SG and so far pretty non-plus'd with Gibsons modern line for around $2,000. I love Tokai but they are also expensive, although probably higher quality than Gibson. These Chibsons may be the ticket.

Theyrer inconsistencys are on purpose...They could reraally make an EXACT copy if they want...The differences are all to SAY it isnt an exact copy so they can legally do this...

I don't know about Chibsons, but Gibsons today is a lotery, very expensive and you can get one full of flaws. What you said is real, O have lota of guitars, some expensives RGs and RRs and two Frankenstain super strats. This too cheap bastards have amazing bodies and necks (I changed them over the time until I march the ones I love, poplar and alder bodies and full maple necks both, one Tagima, from Brazil, the other from Aliexpress that is amazing). Today they have, one with SD Full Shred Sh-10 on bridge, Fender mexico ceramic and SD Hot Rail in neck(HSH) and Duncan Solar (neck) wilkinson vintage alnico V, the other has Dimarzio EVO in bridge with 2 point tremolo ( HSH too, it screams) killswitches, perloid pickguards, Wilkinson tremolos with huge brass blocks, locking tuners, tusq nuts and push pull coil splitting. I re radius both, one to 12" the other 16" and jumbo frets on both. My friends offer me money all the time when they played my frankies hahahaa

There's no slave labor going on...I laugh when people say that...they've obviously never walked into the factory that I worked in for 15 years,hot,nasty, uncomfortable conditions...that's just the reality of a lot of jobs no matter where you live...not every job is air conditioned and inside a brand new facility 😮 lol.

Just saw this video a month after it came out. I wish I could have seen what that troll said 😂😂 as much as I would love to own an actual Gibson. I have my epiphones, and seeing these video's about the chibson's. I'm considering buying a few, and changing out shit on them like pick ups and pots, and of the tuners are junk then them too

If I may share a thought.... Anybody that buys a under $300.00 import (ME!) may not be in the market for a 2K one.. Ooo I have several 2K Gibsons but I am not in the market for a 2K guitar. I like doing what you do for what ever reason.. But if you recall Gibson did sell Maestro guitars. IMPORTS that were Gibson knock offs made in Asia! WTH Gibson you invented Chibsons. I just happen to have a black Gibson Maestro SG that came with just a a bridge pickup. I t was my first deep dive mod project. Routed the body for a second pickup and up graded the electronics. So Gibson don't complain you started it all.

THEN I found out you could a real Gibson Les Paul from Zzounds on a payment plan...so I bought a '50's standard Goldtop... it's the real deal, plays and sounds awesome, and I can afford it. Paid it off in a year.

Zzounds is where most of my guitars come from. Anything can be hit or miss in the guitar world. High or low end. The difference is that whenever a high end guitar is bad, it sticks in your head a lot longer. Especially when it's finish issues. But when a cheap guitars build quality rivals, a big name that also sticks in your head. At least it should. But not all of either are always good nor are all bad. Unfortunately, we don't live in a "you get what you pay for " Era anymore. We live in a roll the dice Era , and you get what you get. Some good some bad.
