cool guitar man. People sure get bent out shape over Chibsons, but the more hate I hear the more I want to get one for myself and make a project out of it. For the price, even if it's not playable, it makes a cool wall hanging. From what I've seen these guitars are getting better all the time and with some work can be great.
I did just this, to see how bad they really were. Out of the box they are firewood only! But new pickup, tuners, nut, electrics and it's a passable guitar. Neck and frets are crap, which is the main limiting thing. I bought it to experiment with as I keep all my genuine Les Pauls factory perfect, so it was an interesting project but Chibsons are inherently poor quality guitars, so mine is now on the wall!
I've seen you play live numerous times. You are so incredibly talented that everything you play sounds great. Hoping to catch you guys sometime this year.
Good looking axe man! I've bought a few of these China knock offs and with a little upgrading and a good setup they are actually pretty dang good guitars for the money. Anyway, congrats on the new axe and looking forward to seeing more videos on it and some live stage videos. It's DEFINITELY and eye catcher and will look spectacular on stage under the lights. Not bad for $300. It’s definitely will need a bunch of work put into it tho! Can’t wait to see how it turns out! It’s in the shop getting fixed up right now!
I got mine in the last few weeks, all I really needed to do was clean the frets using fine wire wool, I may get a new nut, bridge and tail piece. But I’m certainly a happy customer for €220
I got a chibson slash lp from ebay. Had it on my watch list for a while. Eventually they made an offer for 175.00 shipped. Said F it. Plays pretty good right out of the styrofoam. Frets are decent, action surprisingly low. Better than i expected.
It’s still at the shop. He said the truss rod is weird. That he can’t fit a tool into it to adjust the neck. May have to take a look myself or have someone else check it out.
Pickups are crap, I just bought one as an experiment. I put a DiMarzio SD in it and it opened right up tonally. Guitar still plays like garbage though.
@@shartne root cause is neck has a back bow even under tension. So only so much you can do. Did tuners, nut, pots, wiring, setup etc., "You can't polish a turd", as we Brits say.
@@shartne my friend bought her boyfriend a low end Epi for Xmas at £100, and it was superior, quite a rocking little guitar! My Chibson is on the wall, the finish is the best thing about it! I did go in with my eyes open, was interested to see how good/bad they really are. But now you know ;)
Looks pretty cool bro? I own a few of these "Chibsons" and they're nice guitars, after you give them a little love & attention! Swap out the pickups, tuners, bone nut, level, crown, and polish the frets. Then give it a nice setup, and you'll be good-to-go? Bought mine for 250-300, you add the parts, a hardshell case and the grand total still came out to about 550-600 dollars? I love mine, and gig with it all the time, and so happy with the finished product! You'll be glad too? Hey, after you make the few changes you still spent A LOT less than an actual Gibson? And isn't that what it's all about? Spend less, play more!
I agree, friends, I bought a Chender Yngwie Malmsteen guitar, it resonates very well, I already bought a Fender shield, an all-electric Dimarzio, the 3 Dimarzio HS3 and HS4 pickups. The sound will be practically the same as the original. I already have an original Fender Malmsteen from 1998 to compare the sounds. Years ago a friend of mine built a Fender Partcaster Malmsteen and we compared the sound with my YJM guitar, and it was practically the same thing, for a much lower price. What matters is playing. That annoying guy, Rod***¥, must be a fake Gibson employee or Just a redneck fanboy, that guy is a joke, it's funny that he defends these brands that just want to sell a stick with a string and charge a lot. Better to buy a cheap stick with string. Kkkkkkk
The issue is not so much the parts, you are correct in that good pups, tuners, nut, pots etc. run only a few hundred ££, but it's the investment of time to make the guitar passable, and the fact that the resulting guitar is still a Chibson and thus has no real value or desirability when you want to sell it on. Given that I can buy a top-end Epi/Tokai, or bottom-end Gibson, Les Paul, for £1200, once I've factored in the cost of my time I'll need to spend making my Chibson decent (I bought one to experiment), then I'll be severely in the red on the Chibby compared to equivalent player's Epi/Gibson, which will still be a better guitar, and also one that will sell immediately on Reverb, for very little below retail. So whilst I did make my own Chibson passable as a player, I never actually play it as have plenty of genuine Les Pauls sat there which of course are all better guitars but, worse than that, I can never get back the time I had to spend making the Chibson playable, which I never had to spend on my real Les Pauls, apart from setting up to my tastes. It was an interesting experiment, but it showed me that Chibsons are simply not a wise purchase when you could get a used MIJ Tokai for the same material price, and have a decent playing guitar out the box, and also a highly desirable one that you could sell in a heartbeat for what you paid for it.
That is a smoker of a Les Paul to be sure! Pretty sure they shoot those grittiest with Heavy poly and not so much laquer. Working with glitter can be very persnickety to smooth without going through finish. But my philosophy anything from C,,ina,,,look good but will need a full set up to make spec worthy Simple fret lpolish and level check would make fast work of that,,,jam on brother🤙
Beautiful guitar, I love Chibson's. I have one for $310, and it's absolutely beautiful and with a few tweaks and upgrades, it even plays better than the original. So good that it looks like $20,000.🔥 hahaha. From now on I will only buy a Chibson, it's fake but who cares, as long as it's cool, and it has a logo of the elitist🤭😂, I will buy it in a heartbeat. Chibsons rules.🤘
Jesus Christ dude, lol. almost got your ass kicked by some styrofoam. SHREAD!!!! Awesome guitar dude. Great score. You're going to have a great time with it. I subscribed, not because I like you, but just because you have some cool amps and are using a set of Yamaha HS-7s...so you have at least that going for you!!!
Not sure how i got here. But while i'm here, you are a dead ringer for Kal Kramer from the Southern River Band, you just need a dirty mo. You should chuck a link in to your band on spotify.
if it's a chibson, then it's already widely known that it was only made to kind of look good, and from a considerable distance. That's the whole marketing; that's what 300$ gets you. Did you think there was some kind of unique magic to cheap Chinses knockoffs that all other guitar makers just don't realize?
@@chasetheacewest that makes no sense. You'd need to change all hardware, pots, switches, and re-wire everything. And even then the basic neck/body build and finish of knockoffs are mostly terrible. Many have alignment issues. What a total waste of time & money.
Never support counterfeiting. Its bad for the community as a whole. You get cheap crap that always eventually ends up with someone getting scammed. By supporting counterfeiters, you're contributing to people getting scammed.
