If I wanted a signature I’d rather have a Peter Green or Gary Moore than Kirk. Just my opinion.

Technically it's all three. They just call it the Kirk Hammett cuz he's the current owner. Since it bears the name Greeny it could still be interpreted as a Peter Green/Gary Moore sig.

I have an Epi 60's standard Les Paul and the 61 Les Paul SG and both guitars are great. Both needed some fret work which would be slightly disappointing at full price but I got both for less than $500 each. They were both in mint condition and I'm convinced I'll never buy another new guitar when so many people buy guitars to learn and give up in a year. These chibsons are awesome and totally worth it. I appreciate that you get the names of these builders out there.

For $250 I got a Chibson relic Greeny and it has the out of phase sound and Rosewood fingerboard

After about a month of waiting, I finally received my CHartin OM-28 yesterday. The build quality is fantastic. Not a flaw on it. I've had various success with Chibsons in the past (Most positive: blue '60s Les Paul Standard; Most negative: Acoustasonic Jazzmaster), but this is hands-down the best Chinese recreation of a classic guitar that I've purchased yet.

I just got a Greeny, I own 3 Epi '59's and a 50's STD. I hotrod my guitars, so my 59's each have different pups and I sold the Gibby BBuckers. The Greeny is well worth it to me, I used Novus 2 and hand rubbed the top with a nice clean cloth, as I also did to my '59's. I love mine , and by the way, inside my case is a cool color, like a dark pinkish burgundy -ish color, much different than the '59 cases. Mine weighs 8lbs 5oz. and has a killer, killer top. I got it from Sweetwater

Epiphone 1959 or the Lazarus" 1959 for $800-$900 with gibson usa bustbuckers just paying extra for the gibson headstock.

I managed to get an Eastman sb59 for 1600 aus. It’s specked out so much better than the “greeny” So happy with Chinese quality build. Just wanted to add that to the mix for thought.

Question a while back you put on some new tuners on your chibson and they had a plate on the back to cover any holds incase the holes didn’t line up what brand were they again? Also I got my first Chibson 2 weeks ago and works great

sweet guitar brother! ya i pulled off the "fendery" bells and put on "gibbyish" mushrooms for a better look.... got a chibby LP "newer greeny" thang goin on...popped in some vanson59 chrome humbuckers and "sunk" the bass side and raised the treble side like peter had his...amazing dynamics from that as well!

I would give Value rating a 1-2 because Epiphone is made in China where Chibson guitars are also made and or as good or better and cost pennies to the dollar. Also: general appearance would get a 3 because of Indian Laurel fretboard compared to Chibsons with Rosewood at a fraction of the cost. Great review as always 👍

They do that satin finish because it's self leveling and doesn't need to be sanded or buffed (cheaper build cost). But with BS marketing it's a "feature". Anyone that would choose an Epiphone over something like an Eastman is a sucker.

Wow! That’s sad! Your Epiphone greeny has some better QC than my 22 Gibson LP standard….when I took the back cover off of the pot cavity it looked like a dang porcupine!! I left it i will eventually put a review video up of it.

@@FultonStreetBeats that’s awesome Dude! I hope you enjoy it to the fullest! Gibson really needs To pay closer attention to detail For What they charge!! Granted my Gibson plays phenomenally! But just the finishing touches in the “not so visible areas” are suspect. When compared to guitars that are half their price having better routing work and other issues people seem to have, it’s just not acceptable! What is really sad, and it may just be me, but if Gibson is slacking on QC it’s basically turned me off on even trying an Epiphone, up until seeing this video.

I'm happy with my Epiphones. Good quality and the qc has been great, but I'm with you, 2 grand CDN is too much. My sub 1 grand guitars are a much better value. I don't think the Gibson p/ups are worth that premium.

Have to wonder if Epiphone is trying to create their own collectors market. I don't know if your average musician is ready for fork over that much cash for an Epiphone when you are entering Gibson territory. Also for $1,500 is it to much to ask for Gibson style fret nibs? I guess so, some chibsons come with them for an extra $30 bucks and with a one piece body fwiw.

I think that there should be at least one star taken off for fit and finish if that was one of the chibsons, and you opened up those cavities and saw that routing and having screw in the switch cavity blowing out the side of it you would have deducted a point or 2 for that alone ,this is an actual Gibson owned company that put that guitar out everything on the outside looks great, but once you took those cavity covers off, it went to c*** fast. This would be a good guitar at $500, considering that you can get a "custom" chibson for $350, but it's $1600. This is ridiculous in this day. IT just it is, it's ridiculous. I just bought a chibson copy of the Wylde audio Bullseye. Barbarian SG style guitar for $275 delivered. I got it within 10 days. The inside of the cavity covers of mine is nicer than that guitar no flaws.

I think a fairer way to test them would be to restring them all first with the same brand of strings. Then you can be sure you are testing the guitars themselves without the possibility of the results being skewed by something as trivial as a crappy set of strings.
