I finally went to Rip's after hearing about it many years ago and it was definitely some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. Keep an open mind - you don't have to have an overseasoned batter for it to be great. The atmosphere is crowded and loud. But it's in tiny Ladd, IL so what do you expect? It was worth the drive.
onemulatto Ever heard of Harold's chicken? They're a huge hit at their original location, they opened one in my hometown and it was the worst chicken I've ever had. It definitely depends on who is cooking your food.
