In each incident, federal prosecutors said immigrants in search of visas paid to be the victims of a crime. The masterminds of the ring then staged armed robberies so the victims could be fast-tracked for the special visas. CBS 2 Investigator Megan Hickey reports.

This type of scam has been going on for years. Whether there’s people coming in here to get free healthcare and education or getting falsely married so they can get a green card or lying about the marriages so they can get money from the government. They said to encourage non-citizens to cooperate with the cops if they have been a victim of a crime without fear of being deported. Most people who are afraid of deportation flee the scene of any crime which is why we have so many hit and runs in my southern border state. Y’all didn’t even watch. This is an important law. I hope the abuse of it is punished to the fullest extent.
