Having a QB who sees the field and gets the ball out on time will really help our 4th Qtr play.

Last year's fourth quarter issues has plenty of blame to go around. I don't think it was just one thing. Getsy, Fields, Flus and sometimes the defense. I think things will be different this year, new OC, new quarterback, added some players to strengthen up the offense.

This topic correlates with why adjusted field fans wanted him back. We watched him progress for 3 quarters. And we watched the playcalling takeover everyone gets on Justin about his throwing. We all forget how many times he saved us with his legs down plays converted. It’s going to be a lot different this year. We have to do really good on first downs all of our blemishes on the old line on the quarterback will stand out more than ever most of all the coaching

It comes down to situational football in the 4th quarter. Getsy COULD not make adjustments, only 'script' plays in the first half. Got to also put some of the blame on Flus. Although, Flus did criticize Getsy for not making adjustments in the 2nd half. Excited to see how Waldron dials it up, but the players also have to execute!

Tbh JF1 and Getsy are most to blame imo for all those 4th Qtr collapses because all 3 games 4th Qtrs have two things in common, piss poor 3rd and 4th down playcalls and JF1 turnovers in the 4th to close out each game. Ngl I can remember celebrating the Browns loss in this comment section, knowing the power of having two top 10 picks was going to change this franchise forever with or without JF1 in picture.

I think alot of that was learning to close out, too. Plus, I blamed alot of the losses on offensive play calls in the 4th. 3 straight zone runs up the middle into a stacked box and punt... That's not playing to win, that's playing not to lose... Hopefully they (and loss of Getzy) have grew.. Plus, Waldron seems to be a more seasoned play caller

If Flus does bad,I can promise you Waldron is the next HC,its probably one of the reasons he agreed to come here even though Flus could be in the hit seat

The blame for last season’s 4th quarter woes could be passed around evenly. I love him but Justin needed to be better, Getsy should’ve been better at adjusting but it Wes clear he didn’t trust JF1 either and Flus appeared to be out coached at critical moments in those games. But I’m hoping he’s learned from those mistakes because with Fields and Getsy gone there’s no one in between him and the unemployment line. But I’m hopefully that it won’t come to that next Season. Waldron is the key as he looking for HC position. Flys & Poles bith has to continue building offensive coaching talent inside the organization & if thus happens flus is safe. Unless not Poles has to change HC. Lets nope Waldron sticks around 2 or 3 years to develop a OC replacement! GO BEARS AND BEAR DOWN 🐻 ❤❤❤

I agree those 3 games specifically were aweful 4th quarter collapses. This team needs a winning culture. That comes from within execution confidence continuity and good coaching.

Yeah, sometimes things work out for the better. I can't think of a thing that I would want to change after the way the draft fell for Poles and his staff. Those 4th quarter blown games were a real downer though. This season will be greatly different and I will wait patiently for it to get going! Bear Down!!

Having a competent offensive coordinator would help also a good defensive play caller who believes in blitzing

This is really important, the collapses were maddening last season. I like Flus, but def think some of that is on him as well. Whether it was wacky clock mgt at times or him maybe giving Getsy too much rope. I like him as the Defensive play caller, but also think the total game management side is hindered a bit by that.

Conditioning, reliable rotation of players and fresh legs

4th quarter meltdowns is entirely on Eberflus. He had the authority to step in on Getsy's play calling and either didn't or he was complicit. I hope he learned a huge lesson last year and will be better. I think Waldron is a definite upgrade over Getsy and will definitely be more respected by Eberflus and allowed to run the offence as he sees fit for the most part. Bear Down and FGB

That is where Flus is weak, gets a lead then crawls into a shell versus attack, attack on both sides of the ball.

GM, Coaches and lack of talent are the main culprits for the 3 loses. Browns game is best explanation for how the Fields saga went down in Chicago. 1. The Bears was up 17-7 by mainly throwing the ball to a TE. Going against the no.#1 defense in the league. 2. He's only 2 weapons gets injured in the first half. (PFF rated the Bears with the fewest number of weapons above average in the league at 2. Stroud and Love had 7 or more.) 3. Head Coach who is 10-24 in two years. OC that is ranked as 27th best play caller. An O-line that ranked in the bottom third of the league at pass blocking and RB's that go missing at times. 4. Fields never really gets the unnecessary roughness penalties calls. 5. Defense that forgets how to cover Cooper and Njoku. 6. Then you say, "Hey Justin, we need you to turn into Superman and win us the game!" with the 26th best pass blocking O-line, 107th and 115 best receiver, 65th best TE!! Against all odds with the chance to win, at the end of the game he has the ball in the hands of a falling Bears receiver...who kicks the ball to Browns defender. I laugh when hear Poles or Eberflus say anything about "Creativity and Accountability". I just laugh and say what do they know about being Creative or taking Accountability? They are two people responsible creating this mess and haven't taken one shred of Accountability or show very little Creativity... "That's Bears football"! Foundation? Without Fields the team's leader and Mr. Houdini... and Getsy a lot of things that made us good in the first 3 quarters at not going to transition into this year. This team completely different. Last year... it was QB centric focusing on Moore and Kmet. This year is going to about which person is going to step up to help Caleb from Moore, Allen, Odunze, Kmet, Everett, Swift and Herbert, etc. I expect Caleb to have 4500 combined yards, 40 TDs, less than 15 INT and 10 Fumbles in 17 game season. Caleb will have 3 times more weapons to utilize, a better OC and more experienced O-line. Poles finally added quality weapons at a cost. The team would have been better off trading the 1st overall pick for MHJ, a 2nd/3rd round pick and addition 2nd round pick in next year's draft. Poles could have drafted the only "Generational Talent" in the draft in MHJ, a young stud DE in Turner or Verse, in the first. In the 2nd round draft Center Jackson Powers-Johnson and the extra 3rd round pick we could have added a DT.

My biggest concern is if we get rid of Flus won’t we be repeating the cycle of getting a new QB with a lame duck HC. Clean house New HC don’t like the holdover QB?

Most games in the NFL come down to the 4th quarter. Good QBs find a way to win those games more often than not. If Caleb is the QB I think he is things are going to be alot different this year, especially in the 4th quarter. 3 and outs in the 4th quarter are a killer, so are interceptions and sacks. I think Flus played alot of bend don't break D to run clock towards the end of games so he didn't have to count on the offense to go win a game. 🐻⬇️ ✌️✝️

Interesting playing the What If game. If the Bears had won those 3 games the Bears would've made the playoffs. Justin Fields would still be the Bears QB1, especially if the Bears won a playoff game. There's a chance Poles would've traded up for Rome Odunze or traded the #1 draft pick and drafted Odunze or Marvin Harrison. There would be no Caleb-mania this off-season. He would be a Commander. But, the Bears would've had their edge rusher in the 1st or 2nd rd to play the opposite side of Montez Sweat. No Austin Booker.

You gotta compete, and as a professional that means the whole game. I don't know where the blame falls, but whether it be preparation or mental that hasto be something that is addressed going forward as a team that wants to be a contender

Almost sounds like a team that didn't want to win games when you think about it.

This has been the most overlooked topic this whole off season. It falls on the players but Fluus is most responsible for keeping the guys heads in the game untill the end. Fluus needs to be on both the players and coaches, the whole game. He does'nt need to be a rah rah guy. He needs to throw the hammer on them until the final whistle.

The defense will be stronger in the 4th quarter if they get more resting time when the new offense keeps longer drives.

You can't sit on leads. Gets would sit on leads and rely on the D to hold leads. With the upgrade in punting and a QB and WR crew who can force opposing defenses to respect the passing game we won't have the 4th quarter collapses.

So the same point you made with landing Rome is the thing that terrifies me about this season with our schedule being so easy we’re gonna play just good enough where we can’t get the equivalent of a Rome on defense and we need my opinion three tech unless Big Dex somehow ends up with the burst of Jalen Carter, and we still need a right edge, but I have a weird feeling we are going to play just good enough to not get game changers on the line and this makes me sad but often should be absolutely the most fun to watch since I’ve been alive 🐻🔽

I'm not sure, but wasn't Justin a huge reason why the 4th quarter was death. He had not one come back drive for victory.

The ‘23 Bears lacked conditioning, confidence and cohesion on the field. The coaches lacked experience and aggressiveness. HITS was out the window. Flus is directly responsible for making changes. If he doesn’t then he and his acronym will be gone.

It looked like a team that was trying to tank. The losses were unbelievable on historic levels. Those losses were very disappointing to watch and were hard lessons for the young players to learn but they turned into blessings that set the team up for the historic draft that Poles steered the franchise through.

Fluse ran the d and can’t really coach anything else. I trust him to be a middle of the line defense coordinator. Getsy was trash and surprised he even got another job at same position. Fields is basically a bigger stronger version of Caleb to me it was more about the money then play. Williams has legit same issues as fields did without knowing how Williams growth goes this time though it appears they are more invested in development and coaching up the qb so if Williams fails it’s obviously on him . Fields has potential scape goats but a team can ruin a qb and the bears are experts at doing so. So fields going to a well run organization was the best outcome. Caleb has weaknesses that are similar but has a better chance at being special due to weapons but that line only marginally improved so if they don’t hold up I don’t think Caleb will be as sturdy as fields. Overall the bears did try to establish on paper improvement in coaching and upgraded weapons. Ideally I would have fired fluse and focused on the trenches a top 15 center and top 3tech will get you in the playoffs and so far in poles gm he’s not invested in either the center or 3tech just minor stabs and bands aids. Gervon isn’t ready and bates and Shelton are hilarious as the starting center.
