In 1965 Dick Butkus and Gale Sayers were the Bears 1st round choices. No championships were produced, but they were both legends! Hoping This draft produces a few legends and championships!

Yes, I was reading this back a few weeks ago Poles number one receiver in the draft was Odunze, not Harrison Jr, not Nabers. Poles dream scenario first round came true. Can't wait to see these two on the field!

Gosh, gonna be super tough to beat the 1983 draft with Covert, Gault, Thayer, and Dent, but if we win a Super Bowl soon it’ll definitely be at LEAST #2

I've been thinking as to why exactly were they targeting Gabe Davis initially at wr. That just seems like a yr 1 or 2 of the latest regime caliber of signing when Mooney got a similar contract with Atlanta(not that I wanted him to return, but is Davis a genuine upgrade?). They should've targeted Mike Evans , who is younger than Keenan Allen, if they were gonna devote to an aging wr, and it would've been more of a 3 yr deal(Chris Godwin would've made more sense than Gabe also). They got fortunate with the Allen and Rome additions, which is my point. Credit to Poles and Ian, but some balls definitely fell into their lap/favor.

It really showed how dumb of organization Falcons are by not taking a free 4th round pick next year from the Bears and still getting their guy by moving back one.
@slave2allah
@slave2allah 3 месяца назад
Only reason o would t do it is if the Bears went ahead and traded the pick to a QB desperate team like Denver or New Orleans. But other than that, it was dumb.

I agree with it being one of the best. Very hard to argue with 1963, 1976 and 1983. Championships will tell the tale. All those others only produced one.
@gbenincasa

I agree. Those drafts produced legends and championships. And I would say a few more drafts could be added to this list, too. Ultimately, this may be the best draft of all time but we won't know that for sure for a long time.

Atlanta should have taken Odunze. They "F"d up and gave the Bears the best pick. EDIT: Imagine how different Bears draft would have been if Atlanta had taken Odunze. Bears would have taken Verse or another EDGE and not moved back into the draft to take Booker. I'm happy we got Odunze. Even if Keenan leaves, we still have a great WR room.
@eldiablony274
@eldiablony274 3 месяца назад
I also had Odunze over Nabers and really tied w MHJ by the end of the combine. Combo of Odunze character when I heard him speak it was soon clear his extra qualities. Also his competitive streak that made him want to test , when his other 2 peers were not. The flashiness and disinterest in combine process by Maserati Marv and the sorta negative vibes I got from Nabers media days made me more worried about the DIVA aspect , whereas I have no concern about Rome.

And the piece that goes under the table of discussion in all the talent acquisition is that The Bears also have one of the very best WR Coaches on staff in Chris Beatty! Odunze not only gets to pair with Caleb and 2 future HOF mentors, but from a top flight developer of talent!

@@SwiftSportsNetwork I know you addressed him when he was hired and I remember him from when he was coaching at Landstown High in Virginia Beach. He is an exceptional developer of talent and gets the most out of his players! Beatty’s name is overshadowed because he is not the coordinator and not the on field talent, but he is a very key piece to the success of this offense going forward. I am super excited about him being on staff!
