Avondale! My old stomping grounds! I used to work at DMen Tap, which is right down the street from the Dark Matter Coffee shop you were at (used to be a hair salon!). Bucket O' Blood, Reed's Local, the ORIGINAL Kuma's Corner, 4am karaoke at Alice's, new wave goth dancing at Late Bar, snacks at Small Bar, best view of the Chicago River at Metropolitan Brewing, bao from Joong Boo Market...Brings me back so much memories! My homie Rebecca (who used to work at Honey Butter Fried Chicken) opened up a sandwhich shop on Belmont called Tribecca's. I know the neighborhood changed a lot since I moved to Detroit, but Avondale will always have a soft spot in my heart! :)
Hey Luis, Visited Chicago on vacation last week from the UK for a few days to see Depeche Mode at the United Center. Being a RU-vid follower of yours for a couple of months great to check out the best places see and visit. I 100% loved the culture and diversity and most importantly the food!! Stayed at the Best Western in River North so visited Mr Beef for the (legendary!!) Italian beer sandwich and up to Byrons for the Chicago hot dog post wander round Wrigley Field. Deep dish at Lou Malnati's too!! Other highlights of the trip were visiting Lincoln Park (last Tuesday when the weather was all the 4 seasons while walking from Fullerton subway!!), Millennium Park, Grant Park and Soldier Field. What with running a microbrewery in the north east of England, great to check out the craft beer scene especially Crushed By Giants Brewing on East Ohio/Michigan Avenue (my local for the stay!!), Goose Island, Great Central Brewing and All Rise Brewing at the Cobra Lounge near to Ashlands subway - worth a visit if you've never been as we say in England the "craic" was great!! Great to get out of the "L" and visit the Chicago neighbourhoods, I would have loved Avondale especially the vinyl record store in this video and spent all day in there especially with all the retro stuff. After 4 days in Chicago headed off to Toronto for the Depeche mode show there, another great city with food and drink. Thanks for your videos giving us folks an insight into what Chi as all about - keep 'em coming buddy!!
Luis, I’ve been watching your videos for the past couple months in preparation for our fist trip to Chicago. We were just there this past weekend and saw you making a video for a river boat tour while we waited to get on the tour. Would loved to have met you but you went up the steps instead of down past the line waiting to get on the boat. Thanks for all the info in your videos!!
Love that you showed off St. Hyacinth in this tour! Itll be great to see more Polish culture/food in neighborhood tours since Chicago has a large Polish community that you didnt hit up yet 🙏🙏
Fantástico!! 🎳 I really enjoyed this video. Heading to Chicago on Thursday and I’m super excited to try all the foods you mentioned in your videos. First stop is going to be the Italian beef second the different types of pizzas third hotdog and fries and will continue from there. Definitely want to visit the brewery. Woohoo super excited!!
