@Detective Juan [LibCom] 🎹 I don't exactly recall my exact thoughts. I was probably drunk when I wrote that. However, I never thought Jason was a good replacement. It was always like he was trying a little too hard to sound like Cetera. And Bill, on the other hand, was always an arrogant son of a gun who was a little too linked at the hip with David Foster. Now they have Neil Donnell who, I think, is a great fit for the band. Not much of a stage presence is he but he smooths out the the harmonies like the good ol' days.
@@MBurrellstudios bill brought david along and the rest is history. There would be no chicago widout foster after terry. Bill and foster brought great session musicians like lukather, porcaro, kipner etc in their albums to create incredible songs. Hard Habit to Break imo is one of the greatest songs ever written and arranged. Chicago evolved. Thank you bill.
@@juniorjunior4087 "There would be no Chicago without Foster after Terry Kath" is a pretty lofty assumption to put on David Foster. I actually think it's a pretty bad joke on your part and a disservice to the group. Hard Habit To Break/Get Away (the actual title) is indeed a great song the best of that era. It's also a great example of what we're talking about. Foster didn't want the horns on his albums and that track. The group decided otherwise and fortunately used the horn section anyway on the song which really heightened it and kept the true Chicago sound alive!
Bill can do no wrong. He was an absolute monster for Chicago and I shed a tear the day he stepped down. I love how he owns his mistake, here, with the “Awe, Yeah!” 😂 . Even his mistakes are awesome, and adds so much to the live experience. One of the best live concerts I ever heard was Huey & his News. They had sound issues all night (in Dallas) and a few wrong notes here and there. But they played their ever lovin’ tails off, and the bari sax player, in particular, had 10,000 people in the palm of his hand. Horn section was beast mode. I’ll take sound issues and a few wrong notes toppled with enormous Heart & Soul (see what I did there? 😂) every single time over a sterile recording. No substitute for live music. None.
@@TruthHurts58 oh no disagreement there my friend. Live there is no comparison. But man ,. On the will you still love me song on the album,. Enhanced some or not,. Just wow. Did you ever see Chicago in person? I did in the early 90s
@@GisherJohn24 yes I did, unfortunately it wasn’t until 2000. They weren’t even performing Will You Still Love Me anymore by that point. I was disappointed because that is one of my favorites. I agree the vocals on Chicago 18 were amazing!
It's just one of their best songs period!...touches the heart lyrically & musically!....all artist aspire to achieve!...as for @1:39,..Bill Champlin just shows that he's human that's all...@ that time,..and throughout the whole performance!! Do note that he sung the sh#%*t out of it!!!...👍🏾👨🏾🎤🎶🎸...love ya! Chicago!
Missed seeing the horns coming through the middle, later they were brought back but in the 80s the producers felt it was tough on to put on the radio. That's what made the band and would give Bill that level of support he deserved.
So powerful voice and yet very relaxing, never get tired of watching the video and listening to this song! Long live Jason scheff and the Chicago!!! 🎶❤️😘
Jason replaced Peter on Chicago 18 album. Not quite Cetera but a great vocalist and brought his own magic and could sing the Cetera parts which is what the originals wanted. Now 3 decades on a new chapter in the C hicago story with a new vocalist replacing the one the that replaced Jason. Its about the music and bringing new life to it. Peter Bill and Jason all played major roles in the bands success.Well done to all 3 vocalists and the key members of the group. Thsnks for the music
i have nothing but respect for the band one of the very best bands on the planet... musician ship and stage performance of the charts... being a pianist i know ... athey are one of the very finest.
Love Chicago, and this is my favorite song of all time from ANY artist! With that said, Jason is hit and miss on this song, the Studio album is the best version of this song, because they probably cleaned up his voice a bit! But I STILL Love it! P.S. and that last Chord.... DAMN!
Expfighter ExpScout of course the studio is better. I cant even imagine performing this song after playing an hour and singing your heart out every song. Recording in the studio is so much easier because you are in your comfort zone and havent been singing for hours on end
my all time fave too..its a masterpiece.. up there with bohemian rhapsody but with a lot more emotion..not about someone trying to deal with homosexuality
Esta es la canción de la reconstrucción de mi vida, en Dios, en mi trabajo y en mi trabajo para siempre por la gente, desde hace 8 meses atrás...It is an awesome song, unforgetable and so marvelous artistic anthem, uma música muito linda! Greetings in the border between Peru, Bolivia and Brazil.
Best live version of this song. I love Bill Champlin. On some of the other performances of this song he’s always singing over the top. I mean yes it’s a live performance but at least keep it within range of the song. I have to say he didn’t do it as much here. Thank goodness because I love his vocals on the album version and he replicates it here on this live performance.
Yesssssss! That was what caught my attention, too. Bill played it down here - no raspy belting like in the other live versions. I love his singing here - almost better than the studio recording I'd say.
if this was the best, I'd hate to hear the others, I figured it was rough and raw because they were all getting the hang of playing it. And the plays thereafter would have been improved. The best singer, bar none, after Cetera is Jeff Coffey. He was perfection.
1:36. I love how he totally owned that mistake. That's a tricky little spot to play. It should be almost second nature for him to play that. Once your muscle memory gets it you can almost play with your eyes closed. It's good to know he even flubs up sometimes.
Until this time i think im inlove to jason hahaha... Young and old face he is handsome.. Ooopppsss.. I forgot the one who brought me here.. Im always thinking of you.. Where r u now? I miss u.. I miss your saying that "could call my own" i miss that.. Hope u r fine. Will u still love me for the rest of u lyf.. I cant go on... Pls i hope to see after ECQ. I miss u
HI Danny exited the band ( fired) in Spring 1990 he toured several more tours...Then entered the Mighty Tris Imobden for Summer US tour and everything until 2018 January when he quit to be with his new bride & persue other projects
I messaged the link of this song, with the vocals written out, to my boyfriend. I asked him to sing it to me. I’ll end up singing it to him! The song has been in my head since I sent it to him!! I think I sing on key. I HOPE I sing on key!! 😄
scrumtrelescent007 me too. Jason never had the chops peter had. After Chicago 18, the flavor of the band truly was lost. Sometimes I wonder what it would’ve been like had Peter never left.
Well Cetera himself said Kath would have left Chicago not long after the time period of his death had he lived. So I’m sure Kath would’ve left actually. I wish Pankow would’ve been cool with Peter staying instead of being such a prick saying “No, we have to keep going.” But eh whatever this band went downhill around the time of Chicago 19-on.
Take me as I am put your hand in mine now and forever Darling here I stand, stand before you now deep inside I always knew It was you, you and me, two hearts drawn together bound by destiny It was you and you for me, every road leads to your door Every step I take forever more Just say you'll love me for the rest of your life I gotta lot of love and I don't want to let go Will you still love me for the rest of my life? 'Cause I can't go on, no I can't go on I can't go on if I'm on my own Take me as I am, put your heart in mine, stay with me forever 'Cause I am just a man who never understood, I never had a thing to prove There was you you and me then it all came clear so suddenly How close to you that I wanna be Just say you'll love me for the rest of your life I gotta lot of love and I don't want to let go Will you still love me for the rest of my life? 'Cause I can't go on, no I can't go on I can't go on if I'm on my own Do you believe a love could run so stong? Do you believe a love could pass you by? There was no special one for me I was the lonely one, you see But then my heart lost all control Now you're all that I know Just say you'll love me for the rest of your life I gotta lot of love and I don't want to let go Will you still love me for the rest of my life? 'Cause I can't go on, no I can't go on 'Cause I can't go on, no I can't go on I can't go on without somebody I could call my own 'Cause I can't go on, no I can't go on I can't go on 'Cause I can't go on, no, I can't go on
I would rather pay to see bands mess up live then know they are lip synching and scamming the fans. Bill is human and at least laughed it off. A true professional.
As too cry my friend. It is not a love song but a story of a man who searches for love his whole life and is near giving up until she shows up and she is his everything. He tells her that they are soulmates and asks her to never leave him. In my case she did and my life will never be the same..............
