I would have given anything for this video when I was a 15 year old drummer in 1992. As far as I'm concerned the people in the audience had tickets to an historical event on par with man's landing on the moon.
I believe that this concert never actually happened. It was staged by the government. The shadows are all off and Chick's clothes don't hang like they're in Earth gravity.
That my friend is one of the best comments I've ever read on RU-vid. And yes, as I witness this performance today It's music at another level and will forever be timeless. I cannot think of any words to describe how good and grateful I feel.
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my login password. I would love any help you can offer me!
One of the best concerts I have ever heard. I seen a lot of Patitucci performances and I can tell that is at the top of his art. Technique at the service of finesse and musicality. Just a shame that the sound distorts a bit, but once compensated, this concert is deadly. R.I.P. Maestro Corea.

Amazing virtuosity by all three. Just incredible their level of improvisation around the melodies and Weckl around the rhythms. As a Jazz drummer myself I have been in awe of his skill for years and have learned a lot just listening to him work.
This album is how I first heard Dave Weckl. This artist is the sole reason why I love the sound of Yamaha pianos. Chick shaped the way I hear music. His imagination carried me on every album. Peaceful journey Chick.
The video was aired on TV station in Indonesia around 1993 or 1994. I was in senior high, my uncle called me to watch it. I remember running to family room with wireless phone on my hand, panicly turn the TV on. Bought the record (cassette) few days later at Aquarius Mahakam.
I was junior high school too when the album (in cassette) was released. The live video was aired on one of local TV station few years later when I was high school.
I had the "Alive" cassette when I was in the 11th grade and my fellow drummer friends and I would sit and listen to "Morning Sprite" over and over. We didn't listen just for Weckl's awesome performance, although that was pretty big. We listened because it's a great song! And this performance is my favorite bar none.
me as well, i was about 16 or 17 years old listening to this over and over ... maybe for another 3-5 years to absorb all the jazz licks and drum phrases (together with GRP big band and the other weckl´s solo cds) awesome times ..... no youtube, just looking for the music (Time Warp with Gary Novak is on another level too, brilliant as well)
Full skill and extraordinary technic both electric band and akustik. They are just the best musician a jazz could ever have. Chick a Legendadry jazz artist, Dave Weckl and John Pattituci were still at young age.
This is a CD, I often listen, from it was released, and a friend of mine had the grp Video. I was looking forward to watch it again. Thank you very much . Outstanding musicians.
As I witness this performance today It's music at another level and will forever be timeless. I cannot think of any words to describe how good and grateful I feel.
Having listened to this thousands of times, learning every note and rythym, and just completely internalizing the whole performance, that when I watch it I get a sense of otherworldlynes. I mean geeze, this version of Humpty Dumpty is completely magical! I never had the chance to see this trio. However, I did see the quartet with Brecker, Gadd, and Gomez at the Blue Note NYC, just weeks after 9/11/01....and yeah, unfreaking believable!! Chick Corea always reminded me of Yoda when watching him play; effortless, and he always had a great time sharing. He is definitely missed...peace to all!
I loved Chick Corea's jazz fusion work while I was in college in the late 70's. Jump forward 30 years or so, and I ran across the "Alive" CD that someone, vacating an apartment, had left behind in a stack of CD's. Suffice it to say I "fell in love all over again", although the organic nature of this band and recording and UNBELIEVEABLE performances offered something beyond the electronic textures I had been familiar with. Eventually someone broke into my car, and I lost the CD myself!!! And then jump forward another 15 years, and I find *THIS* performance on line!!! It was like finding a long lost friend! Thank you Daniel Lopez for posting!!!
Can't wait see them alive on Java Jazz Festival, Sat 4 th March 2017, Jakarta, Indonesia.. Dave & Chick Corea will perform Elektric Band... see you all the fans!!...
One thing for sure ,You will never see or hear anyone do this again ,they way it was executed . Dave is Chicks peer on the Kit . Nobody touches this... Note by note....
