Kent Rollins have you ever eaten at Cattlemen's in OKC? My mother worked there, she gave me the love of cooking!~ Love the food industry I worked at Litchfield Beach in Myrtle Beach, just for beginners...Birds of A Feather...Flock Together!~
Kent Rollins I love to watch all you videos especially anything on the subject of cast iron. I bought my first 14" dutch oven because you inspired me. I love my cast iron collection so much. Also, Kent, you inspire me to want to be a better person and live my life with more meaning. we tend to take life for granted but now my life has more meaning, I also couldn't do anything with out Jesus Christ in my life. Thank You Kent. God Bless you and yours. your friend, Elida Garza from Arizona.
+Kent Rollins i wish you made more videos or did a pod cast or something i could watch these videos all the time great job and thank you for all your wisdom
Kent, I am a trained and long time chef...but let's face it...we are cooks, one and all if we have the passion for creating great food. And you sir do the profession proud. Your food is what we all strive to make. Good food, kindness and great hospitality. A guaranteed formula for happy guests or customers at the table. I know your grandma and momma are proud and smiling down on you. Thanks for your videos and dedication to the great cowboy heritage!
Thanks so much for the kind words and I love cook from the heart and make folks feel like there at home no matter if we are in the middle of 300,000 acres
Amen! Food that is made from the heart is the most tasty. My ex wife said my cooking was very intimidating. I never used a recipe. I learned from my grandma and her 7 sisters on a wood stove in the kitchen. I went to school for Auto Body and graduated and worked for Bergstrom‘s. Two days later I was in the office with the owner. I was offered a security job for double the money to be security at one of his hotels. I learned so much about spices that went with different meats. Oh the head chef would call me or leave a note on how to start different meals. I was leaving my security job and the chef asked my boss if I would help out with breakfast. Yes I stayed and I guess I did a awesome job because they asked me back several times.
I think few people understand the true challenges of producing an incredible meal on a bare prairie with no electric, no gas, no refrigeration, multiple times a day in the most horrific of weather conditions. "Cookie" had an incredibly challenging task keeping everyone fed with some degree of daily reliable comfort. Love your videos. I am in awe of you sir.
My goodness I went from just trying to find a good way to clean my cast iron skillet to watching hours of some real bonafide cowboy cookin! Thank you Kent and thank you Jesus! Learnin all kind of good cookin skills here!
He was the first I've subscribed to back in 2012 when I joined RU-vid. This was the first video I seen and now I'm coming back to watch it again. Him and his wife are some good people that is for sure.
Grew up in a very Vietnamese household; I still remember getting into scouts as a kid and having my first chicken fried steak meal at a scout ranch. Safe to say my mind was blown.
The first time i had Chicken & waffles was a pretty life-changing experience too. Then my friend introduced me to chicken and pancakes and it just got better.
My Grandfather came from a farming family in Nebraska. He moved to Chicago after WW2. I have amazing memories of him making me dinners on the weekends. One I remember the most was when he would fry these little steaks them make a gravy in the pan to dip bread in. I remember never wanting to taste it. Then one day it did. It was amazing. He passed away in 2002. I wish I can eat with him one more time
Don't care who ya are or where you're from, that's a meal fit for a king!!! I'm jealous of all the ranch hands that get to eat great meals like this. Yall take care and God Bless!!!!
Kent, I've only recently stumbled upon your channel and I'm here looking at a video from 11 years ago. Gosh time flies. Great to see what you've accomplished in these years with your channel.
This is one of my favorite videos because you said, “It’s something that I’m never gonna give up.” And I’m glad you haven’t. Glad your still cooking and making videos. Congrats on 2M subs. ~ Shane Morton
14 years ago! - I was still working, had no time to use my computer for anything but business, and didn't even know about RU-vid. Since I've loved chicken fried steak with country gravy since I was introduced to it in Texas back in the 1970's, I just had to watch this one. I've been enjoying your videos since I retired a couple of years ago. I get good cooking tips and great recipe ideas, and you and Shan sure brighten my day. Keep em rollin', Mr. Rollins!
When you said “I never made the same batcha gravy twice” I felt that !! I cook so often and never write the recipe down and it comes out a little different every time, never repeated !
I know what you mean. People ask me for my recipes and I tell them I have no idea it's a new one each time I cook it. It's the same when I smoke or can food.
Yes Kent gets the awards, and 1000% earned each and EVERY ONE! You can also tell that if he never got an award, or any local praise, he would still be happy cooking and living the life he loves! Hope he has a great year with more great things to come!
Love going back through your old videos Kent! You’ve come so far, glad to see your hard work and dedication paying off. Just moved from NE Oklahoma to Colorado, and watching your videos always help when I’m homesick.
panhead1219 naw Gordon would probably dig it. I used to think he was an a hole till he ate at this dive in my town and praised it. I bet that dude actually digs this kind of cooking. Anthony bourdan would flip his shit though, in a great way.
Gordon Ramsay would LOVE this. The whole thing. if there's one thing Ramsay respects is people who love and respect food. He hates people who say they respect food but don't. All i see here is respect for food.
That is one of the best meals I have ever seen. I hope everyone understands and appreciates the real work and talent that goes into ONE meal. Thank you!
I love watching your cooking videos Kent and listening to what you have to say and I got to admit that you are one very tough and dedicated cowboy and are committed to all that you do! God bless you Kent!!
I’m an urban St. Louis kid born and raised, that loves the outdoors (both parents from the rural south). Found the channel about 3 weeks ago looking for recipes to make at my “Backyard Campout”. I also enjoy history, so the introduction story was great to hear! Well, we camped out on 9/11/2021, in memory of the ones we lost, including my wife and others. The campout was a success, and Kent’s “Cowboy Beans” recipe w/habanero peppers were a part of that great production….Cheers!….👌🏾👍🏾✊🏿😉🇺🇸
Hello Kent Rollins like watching your shows I’m Rollins, Like your chuckwagon my great great grandpa was a sheriff in Dallas county he was a wagon and a cart maker Y’all have a BLESSED DAY 🙏
These are the type of meals this southern mama makes at least three times a week. Everything fried, made from scratch and with love. Those are the meals to eat! Along with a homemade pie or cobbler.
@@at-ge5te I'm Mexican living in Mexico and I support Trump proposal to build the wall, make it high. You're in your right as I am to build a fence around my house to keep out undesired people.

Cowboy Kent Rollins is a national treasure and must be protected at all costs! My father wasn't really in my life, but I get such a vibe of fatherly wisdom and care from Kent, that I feel like as long as I keep learning from him how to live a life of service and gratitude, I'll be alright.
I miss the elementary school cafeteria food. It was ran by a bunch of southern church ladies and they made the best chicken fried steak. It’s one of the best meals.
Never heard of this dude but I love seeing people from all walks of life using many worldly techniques and brining their culture into it too, that looks awesome!
Kent, this is the video that displays your dedication and commitment to the lifestyle and those great well rounded meals. Such an amazing thing to see. You rule!
Bought the cook book, I’ve gotten to love old school cooking with cast irons and cowboy coffee, I used your batter recipe from the book using butter milk and eggs because local store doesn’t have powdered eggs, had local butcher slice ribeyes thin tenderized twice, was the best chicken fries I’ve ever had and I usually don’t care for my own cooking, Kent is a master at cooking the cook book was money well spent! Cowboy coffee is a wkend tradition at our house on wkends now
I haven't had this for many years. That's a good enough reason to watch this. If I want to eat it, going to have to make it myself. And I know it's going to be great, if I can follow the way you cook it.
He he, didn't you know that 'wiki-leeks' is an underground organisation dedicated to the emancipation of vegetables? Just wait for the next demo.....'Hell no, we won't grow, go and feed yourselves! Meat-eaters shall eat the dirt and we will re-emerge! 'What do we want?' 'No salad dressing' When do we want it? 'Not right now!' Pax dude
The best chicken fried steak i ever ate was at round up restaurant Weleeka Oklahoma. The place burned down about 15 years ago. I can not find any chicken fried steak as good. I still keep trying. I wish i had your biscuit recipe.

CFS was invented here in Beaumont Texas, in the 1940s, at the “Pig Stand #41” restaurant on Calder street (as was TX toast). A customer came in wanting a steak for lunch, but only had 30min. The cook on duty was setup for the day’s special (fried chicken), and said the fastest way would be to bread and deep fry a thin cut piece of beef 🥩. The customer said ok, the word spread, and the rest is history.
