Chickens can 100% get depressed! I had a first time mama lose her chick cuz another hen gave it a peck. Her behavior totally changed, she was quiet and sad and wouldnt eat. We got her some foster chicks as a last resort and the second she saw them under her she was so happy! She was making curious noises and tucking them under her. After she lost her first chick she turned into a total helicopter mom with her fosters as well.

I was picking up sticks in the back of my yard the other day, when I would've sworn my chicken said to me, "Don't you see that snake?" I looked at her, and she looked at me. Then she turned to the other chicken and said, "She doesn't even see it," and they walked away. 😳

I run a farm and I'm not even sure what each sound means. I should've read the comments first...Please consider pulling this one down - and adding the sounds. I think then you'd have a viral hit!

Mine just died. It was her very first eggs when some evil man robbe her nest clean. I didn't notice at first because she still goes out and eat even after the fact the I just saw her one morning, in her broody groovy box, not moving at all! It's sa because she's a pet. I got 7 of them all pets and not for consumption. I give them out as gifts.

Super disappointed that the narrative didn't allow for any actual chicken sounds. As a chicken and duck mom, listening to the animals would have been more educational and interesting!

It would have been a better learning video if you would have given us a sample of the actual chicken sound to go along with your humanized definition. I got nothing from that video.

Mine always greets me when I come into view with this steady sigh-growl that lasts a full lung breath. I usually imitate her back as a response. I always thought it was a greeting... Now I'm thinking its a warning. But then again I'm usually giving her a treat. so maybe not?
