Danke CHEF I have been looking for this mushroom for last couple of my mushroom gathering carrier. (2 Years) This last weekend I was cutting the grass in my yard I came across a Chicken of the Woods growing on an old plum tree. I'm going to try it today. Thank you. P.S. I'm living in Germany.

@@noemi7475 Honestly who knows… but you never wanna eat any mushrooms raw, with a few exceptions. Chix of the woods especially should never be eaten raw because it can make you really sick. Not life threatening but vomiting & GI upset

These mushrooms should not be eaten raw. They should be cooked before eating. The cell walls are made of Chitin and your body cannot break this down raw. Eating these raw can cause stomach upset or adverse reactions in some people.

Was just talking about this shroom, then I was walking in this wealthy, suburban complex, and it was growing near an Oak in someone's tailored lawn. I nabbed and walked briskly away, super paranoid.

I wouldn't trust mushrooms on tailored lawns. To me those lawns use chemicals, like weed killer. I trust parks a tad more...state parks with low traffic and deep terrain. But, thats just me.

I finally found some in my woods today ! They come up every year but not in the same place. They make me search for them ! I’m cooking them for the first time. I cooked wine caps last year and used different seasonings to see what tasted best. I thought the BLACKSTONE Breakfast Blend seemed to taste the best for me. Maybe because I associate the texture of mushrooms to eggs! 💁‍♀️

Nice but to me they seem abit on tuff side atleast when fried was hopping for away of cooking that made them abit softer texture So u know they grow every year When you harvest them don't rip them out cut them with sharp knife so it's not ripping the mycylum with it then more likely to grow back in same spot Best time harvest is when when get few days of heavy rain that's what brings them out of course temperature makes difference also

You don’t even wash it?
@chefgiovanni
@chefgiovanni 3 года назад
Most mushrooms should not get washed before cooking, a brush or cotton towel can help remove debris. Mushrooms are very healthy and a natural superfood. The terms "mushroom" and "toadstool" go back centuries and were never precisely defined, nor was there consensus on application. A mushroom develops from a nodule, or pinhead, less than two millimeters in diameter, usually overnight. Fun Fact ; Mycelium is the vegetative part of a fungus or fungus-like bacterial colony, consisting of a mass of branching, thread-like hyphae. Through the mycelium, a fungus absorbs nutrients from its environment. Get cooking ! Chef

Lots of mushrooms shouldn't be washed but the piece I tested seemed fine, unlike chantrelles that suck up water like a sponge and turn mushy.
