Mesh aviary panels with a 1" x 1/2" apeture used in area where rats can be a problem. Even small mice struggle to get through this hole size. The birds have an exit hatch at the side where they can free roam in the day time. The cage is large enough so the birds can be left for several days, given that they are left enough food and water. The cage also accepts a padlock. A soffit mesh surrounds the edge of the cage to stop rats digging under the run. A further alternative is to have a mesh base.
