I started cooking when I was very young. I just stumbled upon his videos now and am going to share them with my father who is 65 and taught me everything tomorrow. I did not know he passed away as I am new here but I will say, wonderful energy and I appreciate all that he is teaching me. Much love and RIP Daddy Jack!
@@thelargestgontheplanet1830 Serious Upvote for the use of 'Slick' in a RU-vid comment ! I blew coffee on my keyboard when I realize I use this 'label' but actually haven't heard it in way too long!
I love his no BS approach! No fanfare, no beautiful kitchens with scripted processes and carry on. He makes cooking look really easy with easy to find ingredients. Those pans must be like his children. An extremely likable character. RIP paisano! ✝
I would never joke about something like this. Daddy Jack is gone. I really loved watching him. I think he could have had a Food Network show. That's how likable he is.
The nicest person in perhaps the most challenging industry on the planet. This was just before all of the COVID crap started -- sentimental not just thinking of this man, but also what we have lost in cultural and social terms since.
I am the guy from Chicago who called him and suggested to him to make chicken vesuvio a few months before he sadly passed. he was a very nice man. he made my chicken France better. I miss his videos. he had a lot more videos he wanted to make. I wish I could of tasted . it looks good. thanks chef.. Tony c.
Hi Toni I’m from Chicago as well & i love any type of vesuvio. Yes Daddy Jack was the best I watch his videos all the time. I have a great place for vesuvio it’s on 24th & Oakley maybe you e been there, Baccinalias 2417 S. Oakley. I miss Jack so much just like all his fans. Love ya Daddy Jack RIP! I bet any money you have a golden stove, golden skillet, and everything the Good Lord promises us & you deserve it God bless Daddy Jack!!
I feel like I'm entering a 1960's Italian American East Coast story whenever I watch these episodes. It's like Jack is caught in a time loop where he's just repeatedly making delicious food whilst his buddy records him and they wait for 'Paula' to arrive.
@@franksindoneii5410 “Chicken Vesuvio, a specialty of Chicago, is an Italian-American dish made from chicken…” Relax, Frank. The comment was a joke. As quoted above and according to google, you’re wrong anyway. FYI, I’ve never been to an olive garden because I don’t live in the US and I’m not American. Take your lame sense of humour and show some respect to Jack’s comment section you chump
I made this dish the other night and it was delicious. I just discovered Daddy Jack a few weeks ago and can’t get enough of his videos. He is clearly such an expert at his craft and you can tell the love and passion he puts into it. It's so calming to watch him cook and I love the way these videos are shot. It's real stuff. I was sad to hear that he had passed on. Much love to his family and friends. Thank you Daddy Jack. I’ll be cooking up your recipes for years to come!
Use that ingredient for your mother, for your brothers, sisters, siblings, uncles or so. Leave the food alone. This dish is made with 0 love and 100% enthusiasm.
Thank you, Daddy Jacks, wherever you may be up there in heaven -- I just made this today for the Fam and they LOVED it. Your videos have forever changed my novice cooking life :-)
RIP Jack, I'm trying this recipe this week, grateful I had a chance to meet and eat , and experience this guy a handful of times, a true chef , and a wonderful, kind , generous human being. We're so lucky to have these recipes and videos he was open to share. Thanks Jack 🙏❤️
I like how he uses a short chef knife as his do all. It mimics a small deboning knife at times and he's able to use it for everything. No posturing. Form follows function as it were.
Daddy Jack you've done it AGAIN!!!! I just showed this video to my 14 yr old daughter & after she watched it...SHE SAID "WHEN ARE YOU MAKING THIS FOR ME"? I tell you Jack...you continue to make my chemo treatments easier by watching your cooking videos...THANK YOU...I REALLY LOVE YOU CHEF!!! Much love from Mobile Alabama.
Prayers for you!!! I too am going through chemo treatment. Having a rough night on Super Bowl eve. I also watch Daddy Jack videos to help me deal with my treatment on many sleepless nights. Don’t need to tell you that loss of appetite has been an issue. Sometimes his cooking inspires me to try some of his dishes. Daddy Jack keeping it real.
@@kerry_glock Thank you Kerry for the prayers...& prayers back to you also...MAN...I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT ALL THOSE ROUGH CHEMO DAYS & NIGHTS & LOSS OF APPETITE!!! This I my second battle with CANCER in 5 yrs. My wife & I are getting ready now to leave from here in Mobile Alabama this afternoon...I have to be in Houston Tx at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the morning for new PET Scans & blood work. I'm praying for a good report. Much love from Mobile Alabama.
@@randymiller3949 I live in the hills at 2,200 feet. North Georgia. The hillbillies eat groundhog or bear meat before chemo. A lot of it. Don't know why it works but I know it does. Come out of chemo like nothing. And yes, Deliverance was filmed here. LOL!!! People live off the land here!! I always had until I became crippled.
I find this channel so whoelsome, just to see a man doing what he love in the place he built from scratch, and with style. I hope that the money you guys make from the youtube is enough to pull you guys through the lockdown so you can go back to doing what you do best. I usually shitpost in comment sections but this dude deserves the respect.
Daddy Jack , God rest his soul , could have set up bleachers downwind from his kitchen vent and sold tickets for enthusiasts just to savor the wonderful aromas from his cooking.. He sure has left us his legacy of fine dishes.
It is a soul therapy whenever i watch Jack. I miss him so much even though i never met him. It would be such an honor to have him as a close friend. God bless you Jack! God bless your soul!
The BEST PART of Daddy Jacks. Cooking is watching HIM EAT . the excitement builds when it is headed to his mouth. It goes in and you can tell how CRAZY GOOD IT IS...because the second one goes in right behind the first. No waiting....not saying a word....it is all headed for the taste buds. 😎 Love this CHEF. 🍃🌎🕊
J'ai eu beaucoup de peine en apprenant son décès. Je regardais ses vidéos sans même comprendre l'anglais. J'adorerais sa simplicité et sa façon de cuisiner
It's not just the wonderful food that Big Jack makes when cooking but he reminds me of my parents saving everything that went into every dish. Big Jack brings so much value that many take for granted.
This man has soul. Don't be fooled by the seeming "simplicity", watch and listen closely, great advice about how to cook and run a kitchen. On my list.
Daddy cross contamination is more like it. I've never seen such a good chef be so haphazard about cleanliness. Same dirty rag for everything. Hands, counters, never washed once in any episode. Great cook.
I was going to take the ferry from Long Island to New London on a whim, to eat at Daddy Jack's when I found out he had passed. Very sad, but his cooking and style lives on in all of us who watch and cook!
Just made this one tonight with some chicken legs that needed cooked. It was fantastic. The Red bell pepper really made it for me. I also added a handful of baby carrots for extra color. One day I'll remember the green onion!
Another winner Jack, I saw another Vesuvio recipe from a place in LA called Mama Cozzas where the guy used the same ingredients you did but added an Italian sausage cut up and a side dish of fettuccine alfredo
@@teddingtonbear3265 Teddy ! You are right man !! It gives his videos a whole other dimension !!! ANd Daddy Jack is great on the other side of the Counter too !!! He is trully an amazingly Talented man !!!
I just happened upon this channel this morning, never heard of him. The other video I watched was of him mom's chicken ala king, and I thought how weird that there is a restaurant in CT named Daddy Jack's and thought how could it be that Dallas had a restaurant of the same name. I thought it was odd that the interior while them sitting at the bar looked similar to the Dallas location, so I looked him up. Low and behold, the same guy. In '93 I moved to the M-Street area off Lower Greenville Avenue in Big D where Daddy Jacks was located. I had heard of the restaurant for years and decided to give it a try. It was fabulous, i was really sad when the restaurant closed.
Timmy D from Chicago here. If its on the menu my mom always asks “is it on the bone?” If not.....no dice! Gotta be on the bone. Great interpretation chef.
Beautiful. Going to try to make this soon! Still watching and cherishing these videos. They’re such a blessing. The legacy and energy of Jack lives on even though he may be gone from this world.
I'm not an expert, but I think Chef Chaplin has a better feel for the dishes he's cooking and with the sauces than anyone I've ever seen. Makes it look easy but it's not.
BillVol... I couldn't agree with you any more if I wanted to!!! Daddy Jack is an incredible chef & I bet a very generous family man. Much love from Mobile Alabama.
some people can sight read music... but some can hear the notes on the sheets before it's even played. Capt Jack can taste the flavors in his minds eye. Not the healthiest... but his recipes are sure delicious!
I miss Jack and his humor. I came across him and I watched as many as I could. He loved cooking and you could tell he loved people. I Retired from Law Enforcement in 2002 and wanted to go to cooking school. Couldn’t believe the tuition fees. It was a slap in the gut when I learned this gracious, humble, and heart of a giant had passed away. He always talked about his girls. They were right, the restaurant wouldn’t have been the same without his presence. RIP Jack.
I'm noticing a marked improvement in the video quality and shooting in general. Liked the "ballet" as we get to see another view of the kitchen. More of that footwork, please! Great job all around.
