@@baryonsimon9400 seriously here in the Philippines we just get a 2 meter rope tie they're feet then give them something to perch on they're usually really happy since they have enough food that they don't need to move from place to place
Brings back some memories, my chickens used to sit on top of the 6 foot gate waiting for it to be opened even though the could leave if they really wanted to. One hen liked to roost about 30 feet up a tree. Funny birds, I will keep chickens again some day.
They are naturally such beautiful birds, almost like a bird of paradise when they fly. Look what we have done to them with all the greed and factory farming methods.
Look what we have done? You acting like they are extinct. If anything we are benefiting both sides. We eating good and people aren’t actively trying to get rid of this species 💀
Depends on the breed of chicken. Lighter breeds can get airborne, but the heavy meat-breeds are usually unable. Hens fly better than roos, because of their structure - a roo's job is to make himself "available" to distract predators from his hens. Even peacocks fly - so the tail isn't a problem - it's weight. Yes, guineas fly - beautiful when they're airborne - try to get film of them close up and slow-mo it! Beautiful wings!
Absolutely true. These chickens are Old English Game, a breed known to fly well. Guinea fowl are no different from their wild cousins and fly like pheasants.
I've always wanted to give that a go but they'd be ornamental/egg types. They have such large bones compared to their body (esp their feet), they'd lose a lot of muscle mass down the generations. They'd be like more graceful turkeys.
I have never seen chickens fly that high for that long stretch of distance. I knew guinea could do it, but not barnyard chickens. The ones I have seen act as though they would rather stay on the ground and run instead of fly.
The gate was open the whole time...plus the "fence" doesn't have chicken wire so they could have walked right under it. So they're just flying for the hell of it?
my chickens would ‘fly’ around just for the hell of it. they were rhode island reds so they never got a lot of height or distance, but they always did try. i think they do it to stretch out their wings and also for fun
I love guineas... The only problem is, YOU don't have guineas, everyone that lives within a mile of you now has guineas. They roam much farther than chickens
That's insane, i had a rooster that show up in the second floor, or the roof of my house, and he flew just like your, i never seen it in slow mo, and less more then 1
This is amazing. I have a hen she is Gamecock. When was teenage, she used to take off fly like this over my head because she was so excited to see me. Now she is 3 years old gained a lot weight, she still can fly over the fence but not long distance anymore. I never got such beautiufl footage of her like you did here. Nice Job, thank you for catch that. It's so amazing and beautiful! Where are you located at? I am in WA state.
Little Tiny House I have a 4 year old hen who was a great flyer in her teens but gained adult weight and seemed to lose her ability, however once she started living in the tree with the guineafowl she’s become a great flyer again and can fly across all my fields, she’s still the same weight but just a lot fitter! It seems most birds weight isn’t the issue it’s fitness and mental belief in what they can do that determines how well they fly! I live in Worcestershire, England
Beautiful video, I love seeing chicken flying! :) Which breed are your chicken? P.S. last year in Indonesia one day I was on scooter, I entered the parking area of the little resort where I was sleeping, which was surrounded by jungle... One male wild fowl was there, he saw me, and just flew away like a pheasant, disappearing into high trees, still gaining height! It was an amazing sight! I already happened to see wild fowls, but it was in Singapore, they were used to see people so they were not likely to fly away!
My chickens are a variety of cross breeds in this video, most are part Hamburg or part Friesian fowl, jungle fowl are great flyers, I hope to get some soon.
Chicken channel they have some hatching eggs in ebay, if one day you decide to buy some make sure you check first the sellers feedbacks, i love jungle fowls👍👍
They can fly a HECK of a lot higher than that! Our most popular roosting poles for out birds are about ten to twelve feet off the ground. They easily fly up there.
20 feet height they can fly...Once a wild dog came to attack my grand mom's Hen....It flew up a bit above 20 feet and sat over a tree...3 minutes it was in air
@@rinraiden7025 its not the long tail feathers on the rooster that makes it not good at flying some birds have the long tail feather on them and they fly good
@@rinraiden7025 Hens/chickens have more weight than roosters because my uncle and aunt lives in a farm and they have roosters and they are not that big weight most roosters are not FAT.
