Chicos Tacos in El Paso on the Food Network - The Best Thing I Ever Ate - With My Hands 

People seem to either strongly despise or love Chico's tacos... I, for one have basically worshipped them since a child. Something about the spicy sauce and thin cheese combination with the perfectly fried taco/flauta makes it immaculate. One of the truly great things about El Paso in my opinion

First time I had Chico’s it grossed me out but then a week later I found myself craving them. They became something that I really liked. This is one thing I miss about El Paso.

I ate this in my mother's womb, it is, hands down, one of the best eating spots in El Paso. Along with The House of Pizza. Dyer location's the best.

It seems to be one of those things that you either hate or passionately love, no inbetween. I instantly fell in love the day I landed in El Paso. Is it "authentic Mexican food"? Hell no. But it doesn't try to be. It is its own thing and it's amazing! It shouldn't work but it does and it's phenomenal!

I was born in El Paso and the only things I miss is the traffic and Chico's Tacos. They taste so good. 😀

I'm originally from Silver City, NM. I remember so many trips to El Paso and Chicos Tacos was the first place we would stop at. Then on to Dr appts or Western Playland. Great memories of El Paso!

They're kind of like the Tex-Mex version of White Castle hamburgers, they're really simple dishes that on paper don't look like much at all, but when they're on the tray right in front of you there's no better food anywhere.

I have lived in El Paso for about all the 40 years and things change and foods evolve for better or worse and the concept of Chico’s Tacos as I knew them has not progressed. Remember Chico’s tacos was born at Washington park in a little green shack where people congregated outside cause there was hardly any room to sit inside. We hung out to the wee hours eating doubles with lots of cheese and the tacos were fresh. Now the meat tastes old as if they sat for a long time and the only thing that kind of saves them is the sauce. Sorry, not sorry but not the same.

I was born and raised in E.P. and although I cannot say anything really flattering about the place of my birth, Chico's Tacos are the best and have never made me sick in any way. Every time someone I know who still lives there, comes to visit me where I now live, I ask them to bring me a couple of double orders of these tacos, frozen of course. When I am eating them, I'm in heaven. I would kill someone for these tacos.

those tacos look good, I would love to try them, I'm Mexican and I know those are not tacos, in Mexico are called flautas but according to the definition of a taco, it's either a corn or flour tortilla with any filling, the name changes depending on the region of Mexico where they coming from.

I live in colorado and i had two double orders of chicos today !!!!!!!....it was like living in el paso again!!!!...i remember coming from the clubs and going to chicos afterwords....that was the best!!!...I'd like to that my sister for bringing me chicos 700 miles so i could remember what is was like to live again!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, same as taquitos or flautas. But they are made fresh, not frozen. I live in AZ now, but go back to NM since all my family is still there. I try to make a quick run in to El Paso just for Chicos.

As a El Paso native I can tell you these are insanely good. One issue however that I have with them lately is they don’t shred the cheese finely like they used to and they’re simply not as good as they used to be. Was a bad mistake. Even so, the best taco you’ll ever drink.

FYI: the traditional shredded cheese they used for many years, was recently changed to another different cheese. It's still good, don't get me wrong, but I miss the original flavor.

I LOVE Chico's Tacos

At first taste impression we were not impressed. Because I forgot to pour the tomato sauce on them I ate one dry. Until we poured and drowned the rolled tacos in the tomato sauce then yep we agree they were very very good. That we ate at chicos multiple times during our 3 day visit in El Paso. In Spanish we would call these flautas ahogadas. We will eat there again when we go back in July. Another recommendation that we loved at eating at was Gorditas La Doña. We could not get enough of those gorditas at a very good price. Best gorditas ever find them on google maps and all the reviews are 5 stars!! ⭐️

I was passing through El Paso a few years ago with a friend of mine who's from there. I soooooo wanted to stop here, but he said no way, it was a long way to Austin, and there weren't enough bathrooms to stop at along the way after eating these tacos. Apparently, they are not friendly to the digestive system, but I'm still sad that I didn't get the Chico's Tacos experience.
