@@quinnbaygo2112 i agree with you, why bother telling them if you’re going to be mad later. This is a guess but I think the movie made her out to be the sheltered naive type (didn’t know any better about a good majority of the world or people around her (not that that’s any excuse, you can be naive and still be like ‘well shit, this here ain’t right...let me get to know them a little bit more and feel out the waters first before I tell them all this’) and believed her soon to be husband, his family, and the clan were trustworthy and showed them something she considered very precious to her).
the movie is based off the novel "The Little White Horse" by Elizabeth Goudge. Its a great read and gives so much more detail into the story than the movie did!
I loved this movie because of her room. It did have a few things that were weird, such as the fact that one can clearly see many DeNoirs while very few Merryweathers or their people. This possibly means that the Merryweathers cut their expenses by getting rid of all servants and other related people why the DeNoirs tried their best to protect their people's livelihoods and therefore they became bandits. Or something.
I absolutely loved this movie growing up but it took me so long to find it again because I couldn't fully remember the story. I finally found it two years ago but just a little longer and I would have found it on this channel!!
Absolutely wonderful and enchanting. Takes me away from the present back to when I was a child and loved such stories. Can't stop smiling. Thank you so very much. Love the animals especially. Thank you again.
Success is not built on success. It's built on failure, It's built on fraustration. it's built on fear that you have to overcome. I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life
I didn't know this movie was a thing until I was a young teenager and it's like someone went into my brain and made a movie to exactly fit my interest and aesthetic as a young girl, as if I wrote it. It holds a special place for me.
@@Gmer-ez9wx It is not the same. How can it be the same? First, real cinephile wants to see the whole film, second, how do I know that the recapitulation is so good that it encapsulates the whole film? That is not the same, it can't be the same. In 12 minutes you see something selected and censored and what that guy thinks he saw, or she, if it is a woman.
When I was a child I literally used to daydream about movies like this, so when a very late night i found randomly this movie on the Italian TV i couldn't stop thinking about it for years. I remember it was the early stages of internet era when I was desperately seeking for any fan fic/article or anything about it. I found out that is inspired from a book that I later ordered and read but it is not as exciting and magical as the movie, it's actually boring , non magic at all, about Christianity and Robin is not a villan but instead a friend of her met in the church (??). Anyway useless to deny the big fat crush over Robin teh bad boy and me hoping that was a romantic plot twist between him and Maria. Honestly what a time of my life I wish to go back to those pure and without any worries moments in my very early teens where I just dream about being a chosen princess fighting the evil and going on adventure lol
Never watched this as a child only saw this recap by chance and I sure wish I did , I loved these types of films , similar to the labryith with David bowie type. minus the puppets! I see a lot of biblical referencing as an adult though and of course , no diversity whatsoever which of course is relatable to most Hollywood type films where by anything remotely magically or Godly cannot possibly have an African American cast, I wonder why.....
Fr. Movies like this were so hard to find and as soon as one came to my life I would treasure it like crazy. If you're looking for recommendations maybe try Pan's Labyrinth. It's a bit darker than this one but gives a very similar feeling.
My girlfriend loves these movie recaps you make . She watches all the movies after watching the recaps and she convinced me to watch a couple of the movies and this is the next one shes has been begging to watch with me . My babygirl and I have gotten even closer than we have been just by spending time that we get together and watch movies , get snacks and drinks and she cuddles up with me with her favorite blanket . So glad she found these recaps . She use to hate watching movies and when she did watch a movie she was indecisive in choosing one and now she loves watching movies and always chooses one she watched from the recaps . Thanks for turning my grumpy cat like girlfriend into a cuddly cute girlfriend and happy now that she actually watches movies with me now without complaining lol .
I think what she needs is a little bit spoiler. I'm also kinda like that, indecisive when it comes to watching movies or series cause what if I don't like it and wasting my time?
Assuming time works the same in this movie as it does for us, if the curse was made 100 years earlier then there should have only been about 1305 moons, not 5000.
I’ll admit I also wanted Maria and Robin to be together, but who’s to say that they fall in love and end up together? Also I like how they incorporated a Romeo and Juliet sacrifice from Maria because of two families and their pride. That was a nice touch.
Thank you for this recap, I completely forgot this movie existed until I saw the thumbnail and thought "huh, that image of a black dog with a lion as his reflection looks so familiar!" I only remember watching it once, and I didn't love it, but it still made an impression on me for its imagination. Thanks for reminding me of this lost piece of my childhood!
I really loved this movie a long time ago lol its still really cute and the story is nice. I haven't seen this movie in years lol just the right amount of fantasy. I also loved the costumes and locations.
@@zeenabbilal9065 not sure the excat title, but I think it's called Secret of Moonacre. Or something like that. I know for sure it has Moonacre in the title cause that's the location theyre in in the story. Hope this helps! I know it came out a lot time ago. Before 2010.
I was so fascinated with the black lion as a child. I wanted to pet a black lion. Even till today, I wish for one. And the cookies and milk part.... so heartwarming. Her room was wonderful with stars. Later I kept my windows open to gaze at stars while sleeping. This movie had so much impact on me.
This movie was a total gem. As a kid, i remember renting the dvd from our nearby shop around 20 times only to see this movie again and again. Buying them was not an option in those days. While watching, i often felt like Maria was I and I also had a tiny crush on Robin 😂😂
Now I want to find it and look the whole movie, and the book! I have never before heard about it but it’s the kind of story I loved younger and now a mom in her 39 year and I am so happy to think about this being put to the screen!
So sad I saw this movie when I got older. I think in my late teenage years? The age of stressful academics. So I no longer have the excitement of watching this type of movie. I remembered seeing a scene and I was like "ugh this is for kids" 😞 So I changed the channel (it was in HBO) and never finished it. But now I did so thanks for the recap! 😊 Wish I could just enjoy movies like this without thinking if it's a bad or childish one like when I was a kid 💔
Yoo i watched this movie like years ago and always had dreams about it but was never able to find it again. It‘s so nice to see the recap. I will now be able to rewatch it :D
SAME! I watched this movie when I was so young. After watching this recap, I have started recalling those years again! Now I know the name of this movie, I am definitely gonna watch it AGAIN! 💜💜
So, setting aside the "5000 full moons" would be about 500 years, and the gifting of a unicorn at the betrothel... no one found it odd that a chick who is supposed to be from the 19th century is riding western style instead of side-saddle?
I LOVE this movie! This was my most favorite movie when I was younger! A couple of years ago I thought I had dreamed it because it is so obscure! But it turned out be real obviously! Robbin was my childhood crush next to live action Peter Pan! Memory’s!
I love the dog dying scene. The dog is like "Alright better gently lay down, wait my lips are dry better take care of that, okay now I can die I'm such a good dog"
Thank you for helping me find this movie. I watched this as a kid and seeing it again brought back a lot of memories i forgot. I never thought i would find it and couldn't remeber the storyline. Again thank you so so much.
I've actually watched this movie as a child several times, I had a crush on both the Mc and the Robin lol 😆 the dresses were something I've always loved and hope to remake
Omg , you have NO idea how long i've been looking for the name of this movie , it's literally been years , i even tried to search for it by writing on the search bar :"a movie about a girl that discovers magical pearls and a curse related to the moon " 😅😅😅. THANK YOU 🥰🥰
I absolutely LOVED this movie as a child. I still think about that bedroom as my ideal room to this day... Probably a big reason I turned out to be an INFP lmao.
I loved this movie so much I wanted a sequel😂😂I didn’t know what it was gonna be about it I just needed more to the story. I wanted it to never end. I wanted to see Maria and Robin’s love blossom☺️😂

Straight up I've been half planning on watching this movie for forever and never have. I'm so glad I found this and I might actually watch the movie now
When i saw the thumbnail i was like " it doesn't look familiar but why i feel like i know the story?" It turns out to be one that i saw as kid. Thank you so much!
I cant believe this is the movie i so desperately tried to remember and look for since 2018, i typed all the description that i thought match. But it didn't work, and now few years later youtube recommended this video..cant believe im so overjoyed for this. Literally made my day.
*Before you think this recap is enough for you,* There are many *MANY* parts of the movie Fox Recaps didn't show that are absolutely fascinating and gorgeous.
Ima have to watch this movie full length. Some of the shots look hysterical like when he says Maria was riding on the back of a horse but in the shot she's actually attached somehow to the side of the horse. Pretty funny. And the naming of characters is brilliant Coeur de Noir = Heart of Darkness, Heliotrop = too much sun? Loveday? Haha. Go figure. IDK, they;re amusing. And I must say, Joanne Fabrics must have been having a serious bin close-out on bolts of that red velvet. Or perhaps it was the fashion of the day over in... France? Apparently they still had a few scraps left at the end of the movie, enough for a few external ly mounted shoulder pads and what not. I think they're called epaulets. This rundown is entertaining on its own, but doesn't really tell the story. I still don't know what the thing is about. I like when she 'agrees' to release the guy from hanging upside down by dropping him on his head!!! Gotta love it.
Yes, it’s Lyra. I wish they’d made the rest of the books into films too. The BBC recently made a series a couple of years ago but it was all wrong, not like the books and out of sequence too 🙄
That was me 3 months ago, the only thing I remembered was that it had something in its name about moon and trees. I had to search for multiple descriptions of the movie to find it and I did.
@@kim-oridale3851 yes!! The only thing I remembered was the dog and the bedroom. I was so happy finding it because it was my favourite movie when I was younger
I read a story very similar to this, from dads library. An old book with fragile pages. It had other stories. I wish I had his books, some history and spelling books from 1839 & 1847.
pure bad luck i say, maybe it was only circulated in certaIn areas of the population , i.e the wealthy . the key thing I got was anything worth knowing is hidden in a book and usually by the elites!
