For anyone wondering...there was a period of time where scientists heavily believed that electricity can reanimate the dead. This was due to the fact that they experimented on cadavers by shocking body parts. They shocked the cheeks and it smiled, the arm and it twitched, etc. Eventually we discovered the relationship of electricity and our nervous system and realized that muscles react to electricity due to nerves and electromagnetic sensitivity. But still a crazy time in history and a magnificent theory.
I mean some movies are perfect that way and you can't wait for a second one but then others that have no clue if the first will do well and still out a cliffhanger at the end, that's what pisses me off
I mean, they kinda did leave the room open for a sequel with the "meet again" letter and Viktor's mystery new adventure, but yes, didn't leave us hanging either reminds me a bit of the first iron-man. feige did already have the intention to form a cinematic universe, but the movie wasn't about winks to other movies or anything alike, it totally worked as a stand-alone movie. It was only to the hardcore fans, the ones that stayed in the cinema after all the credits (mid/after-credits scene weren't a thing back there), that the universe idea was revealed. but to the majority, it was just a good movie
So fun fact: this story, even though it uses the popular Frankenstein names, actually follows the story of The Reanimator by Lovecraft- even having the protagonist of their work named Turpin. That said, Mary Shelley’s work was obviously way more profound and heart wrenching… or maybe it’s a merging of elements? It is obviously pulling from these two works, but it’s all one genre
You're absolutely right! Now I'm angry at myself for not realizing this before reading your comment... Herbert West - Reanimator was literally the last story I've read from Lovecraft, I'm so dumb 😐
Then shouldn't it be that the Harry Potter franchise gave Daniel the fame he has? It's like some actors are famous cause those specific roles they got, rather than them being famous over the movies they play in.
So I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Daniel only does projects he's personally interested and invested in, he's post Harry Potter career has been a masterpiece
@@amandacastle7209 I believe so... Despite taking so-called underrated movies, his performances are undeniably good if not great... He exudes remarkable into-the characters persona
@@poloyuio5208 have you seen Swiss Army Man? Come on that was an amazing performance 😅 Daniel learned from some of the best actors and I'm glad he's taken his career in a direction he's passionate about rather then just trying to be rich
That is the issue with "NAMES". An actor portrays a character and the character name sticks like glue. You can also remember some of your guys with nicknames at school, 5 to 10 years later you remember the nicknames and not the person's actual name
I absolutely love Daniel Radcliffe, it is true the first time I saw him in a movie was the Harry Potter saga, but after watching more of his films he has easily become one of many of my favorite actors, my favorites of his are Miracle Workers: Dark Ages, Guns akimbo, Victor Frankenstein, and of course Harry Potter, but if it weren't for harry potter I never of found out who he was.
I think it was also in this movie called The dark window or black widow I can't remember the name exactly but he started it actually kind of a scary movie
poor Prometheus. made by smart stupid people that think that you should be capable of anything a fully grown adult the moment your born and immediately obey every command given to you. it's already a fricken miracle he knew how to walk and defend himself the moment he awoke. 0/10, they would be horrible parents.
so you think prometheus is like a baby? no shit he isnt, babies are capable of emotions they have conciousness the moment of their birth while prometheus is not he's just a dead body that's resurrected he doesnt have a soul, he doesnt have emotions. he's not the same as alive humans thats what the premise of the movie. that a dead person cant be resurected. just like the story of fullmetal alchemist
Fun fact; in the original book, Adam (Frankenstein's monster) is able to speak and read, as well as walk. Victor disowns his "child" when it starts murdering people in an effort to create something like it.
@@konnichiyawasan1619 I'd think a new soul would be born in the body, but the person that was there before's soul has already passed on and there's no way to bring them back.
IDK you guys but Prometheus looked cool AF! i however liked more the original movie, Frankenstein's monster screaming "WHYYYY!?" to the towns people running with pitch and torches to kill him was chilling to the bone.
Pardon my non sequitur...that "Why?!" scene is done dynamically in the Van Helsing movie...which is widely derided. But hopefully I can catch up with this one. & PBU you, btw.
This is the best origin story Igor ever had. On another note I had this weird epiphany that Igor and the hunchback of Notre Dame might be the same person.
@@sebastianboydtagle0751 Still Quasimodo/Igor and Esmeralda/Lorelei, could have survived traveld to uk, suffering from amnesia. Igor got captured in a freakshow..
Also the character of Igor originally was first seen in Son of Frankenstein and was not a hunchback, but a had broken neck that made him appear hunched over
That's the best scene in the movie. I think it would have been a better film with a smaller budget . The big CGI set pieces detract from the real story, which is the bromance.
I've watched this before when I was younger. Ngl their acting really did send shivers down my spine. It felt so real that I really had to tell myself it's just a movie 😳 Even the plot is damn amazing
Is no one gonna talk about how Lorelei is basically just being the best character in this movie. She’s legit acting like this man’s wife ‘I’m talking about the gay baron’ so he doesn’t get outed. No one going to say anything about that?
@Troy Benson Yeah what you say is true I was just really bored and wanted to see some people opinions on this. Also thanks for the info I didn’t know that.
This movie feels like someone wrote a script for a _Frankenstein_ movie from the perspective of Igor, and an intern was carrying that script through the halls of a studio and turned a blind corner. At the same time, a _different_ intern was carrying the script for a _Frankenstein_ movie that would've started a monster cinematic universe and turned the exact same blind corner. The two interns collided with each other, the scripts falling out of each other's hands. Papers were strewn everywhere, and 5 minutes before a deadline, the two interns, in a mad rush, just randomly picked up whatever pages they could and hurriedly went their separate ways, and the more coherent of the two mish-mashed scripts was adapted.
I love Harry Potter as much as the next person, I grew up with it, but in my opinion, Daniel has way better roles than Harry, and he is underrated as an actor.
Sheesh, all these people commenting that everyone only see Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter are annoying. Have you guys ever thought that maybe you are one of the reasons why this stigma has been Daniel's career? As someone who lost interest in Harry Potter after The Goblet of Fire, I see Daniel as an actor and not as Harry Potter. There are also people who never bothered with the movie franchise that sees Daniel as just an actor as well.
Indeed. But Damn doesn’t he make iconic characters?:) just like johnny depp To be an excellent actor, all u need is pure imagination; try to portray the character inside as if it is an ART. The movement & aura~ imagine like u've been living like this from the very first day u were born. Put the ingredients that interests u bout the character & wallah! A character was born🥀
Yeah I was gonna say I've never had this problem with Daniel Radcliffe, i feel like it really only applies to people who are only famous for one role and then stop appearing in other roles
It's ironic that the masses remembers him as Harry Potter....but his best acting is in all other movies he has acted in. His acting in the HP franchise always felt rather restrained to me.....as if he is trying to act out all those complicated emotions, and at the same time trying to look cool because he is the HERO of the story.
sometimes i feel bad for him, because no matter what he does, no matter how many movies hes in this man will always be known as Harry Potter and honestly if i were in his place id be frustrated lmao
After watching Old. One woman had a calicum deficiency. The symptoms were uncontrollable bone density, musculoskeletal deformity. Which the hunchback grew.
Funny i only watched the first two Harry Potter movies, so i don't really see him as just Harry Potter. This guys is a good actor and everything I've seen him in, he seems to fits right into character.
@@kenquixote1898 i just might do that i watched the first two in order so I'm on the right track. At least now he won't be molded in my mined as Harry, lol.
I just finished this movie and it was amazing! I watched the whole movie afraid of whether Igor Victor or Lorelie will die, but it ended well 😁 The acting of James Mcavoy and Daniel Radcliff were great, especially James Mcavoy...
Never seen this movie but my daughters name is Lorelei so that’s awesome, I’m glad she’s a good character and it seems like a good ending too despite all the creepiness.
Man Dan Radcliffe really likes being in weird ass movies doesn't he? Well, Harry Potter gave him all the money he'll ever need so he basically do whatever he wants. And if it makes him happy, who's to say he can't?
Sounds like a dope movie with a great ending, gonna have to give it a watch Also Daniel Radcliff is a great actor, everyone talking about HarryPotter has clearly never seen Guns Akimbo, he's got insane range in that
He had interest to know about human body mechanism, not having the knowledge beforehand. Two different things. Plus he just drew things he saw dissected bodies from somewhere.
Many things have more than one possible cause, and as has been mentioned, he couldn't examine himself. The cyst did put pressure on his spine, so with limited capacity for examination it's reasonable that he thought his spine was permanently malformed.
There are people living in today's modern medical knowledge with cysts and other similar medical conditions that go untreated, why would Igor's condition be any different? Especially when x-rays and CT scans weren't invented beck then. I personally have neurofibroma scattered through my body and only one cyst was surgically removed due to it growing dangerously around a main artery. Every other tumor is considered benign and would be a cosmetic surgery procedure. Took months of scans and biopsies just to make sure, also with equipment that don't even exist back during Igor's lifetime. Simply injecting a giant syringe and extracting pus would cause major complications, the least of these is simple infection not to mention leaving damaged tissue in the body and risking the cyst to spread.
I’ve heard of this movie before, but I always thought it was a bromance origin story for Victor and Igor. I didn’t expect Frankenstein’s monster to make an appearance
I loved this movie. It stayed true to classic character descriptions before fixing them, adding that sense of modern medicine and science. It mashed the old with the new in such a great way. And the ending! That was only the start for Victor Frankenstein. Next time he only needs a brain! 😭 such a great cliffhanger
If he is so good with medicine and just saved a performers life, why would the circus owner be pissed and burn all his medical books? He saves money on getting a doctor and could use him to make money as a cheap doctor.
Being called Igor I rarely hear my name mentioned on RU-vid. Throughout this video, every time he said Igor my brain reacted as if someone was talking to me 😂
I loved his performance in this so much more than Harry Potter. You can see him developing in his acting but the shadow cast by Harry Potter will always leave him in the dark….. I still hope that will change though.
I am laughing my ass off. I never saw this movie but now I want to. Not only for lovely Mr X, who I adore, but also for sweet Harry Potter, chased by Moriarty and his right hand Theseus Scamander :D When all of my favourite brands merge together, it makes an epic story :D
I didn't even realize that was Daniel Radcliffe until I came to the comments and found that was all everyone could talk about. Honestly this is a pretty interesting adaptation of the original
YEARS ago, after seeing the film _X-Men: First Class,_ I became absolutely OBSESSED with actor James McAvoy. So when this film came out, I begged my husband to watch it with me. Sadly we could not get through the first 25-30 minutes of it. It's sad because this film had SO MUCH potential. ...but after watching this recap, I see that we really didn't miss out on _anything_ by not finishing it.
This movie is suprosingly deep philosophically. Worthy of an analysis on themes of god vs man . A great recap and a movie i yearn to watch. Gotta see this one absolutely.
Im still wondering how he plans to play Wolverine. My Dad and brother say it'll be hard if not impossible for him to pull off the character accurately from the comics, and as an OG fan, my dad HATED all the Xmen movies.
@@lillianbriant8692 Daniel Radcliffe, he's trying to get the part. There's someone else competing for the part, but me and my dad have some faith in him tho
