And Crazy Lixx - XIII And Nightmare on Elm Street has the Best song Dokken - Dream Warriors. I figured there wasn't a theme or song for Chucky. The young actor playing the kid talked in interviews later on about how tough it was on him knowing he had to do well and feeling like he had to "carry" the first two movies. He almost had a nervous breakdown. As a little kid.

the actress that plays the mom met her husband on this set. He was the guy that built and operated Chucky. if you watch the behind the scenes you can actually see them flirt a little bit, and you can tell she likes him just by the way she looks at him.

Chucky's awesome because of Brad Dourif's performance of the character, it's simply infectious in the best way possible. The delivery of Chucky's lines were insane and intense, Brad literally solidified his mark as this character and is STILL killing it as Chucky. Just by the laugh alone, you know what's coming.

Fun fact: it’s later revealed in the franchise that Chucky is disproportionately stronger than you’d expect. This is due to the power of Dumbala, and it having more to it than you’ll see in earlier movies.

So basically the magic that trap Chucky's soul inside the doll allow him to maintain his regular adult strengh and speed while in that form. He also imune/resistant but it gts weaker depanding on how much time he spend in the doll's body. The curse resets each time the body is remade or the soul is transfered to another body.

These are interesting details that most reactors seem ignorant of because a lot of them ask "why can't they easily over-power him?"; which if you keep these details in mind, would easily explain why Chucky is such a challenging adversary in the film. I mean, they refer to the man as "The Lakeshore Strangler" which clearly means the man must possess a reasonable amount of strength to have murdered most of his victims by strangulation.

The full sized strength of a man with a very low center of gravity in an evasive 3 foot package that weighs little enough that a child can carry him. Chucky is a legit physical threat. Add in some voodoo magic? He's top tier.

When I was a kid, I was terrified of Chucky. I had a long, dark, driveway I had to walk up every morning for school and I was terrified Chucky was going to run out of the woods to get me. A friend of mine, who was two years older, taught me that the way to deal with fear is to mock it - so when I got scared that Chucky was out there, I should start chanting "Fucky, Fucky, Fucky" and that would help me stop being afraid; he was right. He was also the friend who taught me to deal with trauma through humor. I learned a lot of important lessons from him, growing up.

Since then I've actually come to love dolls and have a fair-size collection, Child's Play has also become a franchise I enjoy a great deal.

Can we give writer Don Mancini some props? Despite from heated debates with the director and not being on set due to the '88 writers' strike, Mancini was able to stay involved with the franchise as the writer throughout all 7 movies (even directing the last 3), become the showrunner for the current Chucky tv series and is now writing a new Chucky movie as we speak

I had a My Buddy doll. I think my parents must’ve hated me playing with it because they sat me down to watch Child’s Play when I was 7 or 8. My friends and I later dismembered the doll.

I can't remember if you two ever reacted to this movie, but the police detective in this movie, played by actor Chris Sarandon, is in a really great, classic 80s horror comedy film called, "Fright Night" (1985). It's a MUST watch, if you haven't seen it yet, that is. P.S.: The sequel to Fright Night is amazing too.

I saw this movie due to a bad babysitter when i was 3 years old. After I told my parents about the nightmares, they decided to rent the movie to investigate. After waking from a nightmare, I walked down the hall to the living room to find my parents just casually sitting there with Chucky on the screen. Cut to later than I'd like to admit or you would guess, I'm okay with watching the movies! I'm SO excited to watch you watch the whole series (I hope). Oh, the places we'll go.

Great reaction! Hope you ladies react to the rest of the movies in the series! Actually, Tom Holland(the writer for this movie) and Don Mancini got the idea for Chucky from My Buddy doll in the 80's, Cabbage Patch, Talky Tina from the Twilight Zone, the Zuni doll from trilogy of Terror and the 80's marketing towards kids. Those were the direct inspirations for Chucky which Don Mancini admitted in interviews.

in 1988...i was born...and this happened...you'd think i would be horrifified but i actually LOVE the Child's Play films...brilliant slasher horror...by far one of the best. the serial killer, Charles Lee Ray (aka Chucky) was named after three REAL killers: Charles Manson, Lee Harvey Oswald and James Earl Ray. in the 80's most dolls looked like that...or worse. to be honest a doll that could talk and say things would be a kids dream in those days...that's why a company would exploit it. he knows voodoo, body transference is a voodoo thing...but it has its consequences... the weird thing is even though chucky is in a doll's body he has the strength of a regular man...hence the hammer to the face and being able to attack someone in a car

The good thing this movie demonstrates is the level of visual effects they had back then when this movie was made in 1988. No computer special effects back then. It was all practical and visual effects. Including robotics, which would have been similar to how the animatronic Yoda was operated back in The Empire Strikes Back (1980).

Hey Achara and Kristen, other than Chucky running fast you probably are wondering how can Chucky be so strong since he's a doll. Other than the fact that it's possesed by Charles Lee Ray when he transfered his soul into the doll, he used that chant to a voodoo god called the Mighty Damballa. He's pretty much a supernatural entity like Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees. I hope you two enjoyed the movie and continue watching the franchise and hopefully the 3 season tv show that continued the story after the movie fanchise.😁

Almost all of the actresses from 7th heaven have been in a horror movie: 1.Catherine Hicks in Child's Play 2.Beverley Mitchell in The Crow 2 and Saw 2 3.Jessica Biel in Blade 3 and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) remake Can you watch and react to the original Godzilla (1954)' that would be my vote to watch next or Killer Klowns From Outer Space (1988) which came out the same year as this film did.

I was 6yrs old when this came out in theaters. But I didn't see this until a year later, so I was 7 years old. My late mother showed me this she was a huge horror fan. And I loved it. It's amazing to me that. After all these years, this franchise still going strong. Several movies are TV series. N one actor the actor who played chunky, stating that he retired from acting, but he will continue to play chucky, only chucky

Me favorite CinePals pair back at it again! The Chucky movies has always been one of the least interesting Horror classics to me. Kinda fun, but meh. I'm more of a genuinely creepy sprits/werewolves/vampires/Slasher-woman-villain/Sci-Fi-Horror guy. So, y'all the only ones who can get me to watch 'Child's Play'. 😆

This movie is classic. I saw this in the movie theater when I was 8 and was terrified for awhile lol. Im about the same age as the actor who plays Andy. Long live the 80s kids. Yall should watch the rest of the sequels. Brad Douriffs daughter is now in the tv series. She was in the later sequels too.
