My grandmother had a My Buddy Doll and it was the inspiration for the design of the Good Guy Doll. As a kid I would never be alone with that doll. It truly gave me wicked bad nightmares.

The reason for the freeze frame ending was to symbolize that Andy will never be able to close the door of his memory about this experience. He was just a little boy when his childhood was ruined by one birthday present, the one thing any little kid would want and to have it become his worst nightmare. It's also to show that Andy will never have a normal childhood or be able to move on from what he's seen.

Besides voicing Chucky, Brad Dourif has a long 50+years career in movie making.

Another all time classic!! Child’s Play is always a must watch for any horror movie fan! The reason why Chucky is stronger than he appears is because he still has the strength & physical attributes he had when he was human before he cast the curse on the doll, hence why he’s able to beat up most of the main characters even though they’re much bigger than him.

I was terrified of this movie. I remember seeing the trailers for this on TV when it was coming to theaters. I was only 5. A few years later, it started airing on TV and I remember coming across it by accident, flipping channels on the remote. Every time I saw it was on, I would change the channel so fast. Child's Play 2 was my gateway into these movies. By then, I figured, if a little boy could be the main character and be brave, then so could I. Part 2 scared the hell out of me, but it was so exciting. I came back to part one and loved it even more. It's even more exciting because of the build up of suspense in the first act. It never gets old, and holds up beautifully. Great reaction. I hope you watch the first 4 movies, at least. They're all so much fun.

Brad Dourif is the voice of Chucky and he also played Grima Wormtongue in Two Towers and Return Of The King! Brad plays a lot of psychos and bad guys. My first film with Brad Dourif was Mississippi Burning-pretty scary! Even though Child's Play is a piece of junk, his part in Lord Of The Rings, Mississippi Burning, and his episode on The X Files(my second favorite sci fi show)were phenomenal roles!

Around this time, 1988, electronic toys like this were the cutting edge of interactive dolls. Teddy Ruxpin was a teddy bear type doll, that you could put cassette tapes in, and he would read a story to you, and move his mouth and blink his eyes. Super high tech stuff!! The "Good Guy" dolls in the film could have been a pitch for a real toy company; the design and branding were spot on (if it hadn't been invented for the sole purpose of a horror movie, of course!) [The fact that screen writers and art departments in films very often come up with super on the nose ideas for products, company logos, etc. like these folks could go into "real" marketing campaigns with some of this fictional stuff! Everyone should have mad respect for film art departments; they really pull it all together, with real talent behind every scene!]

I'm a truck driver, and I bought a chucky doll.. I got the scarred up face chucky doll, with a knife in his hand. I zip tied him to passenger door and when you drive by you see chucky standing there with a knife. I can't tell you how many little kids I've scared with that chucky..I love it..😂😂😂😂

"Child's play" has one of the greatest scripts of 80's horror cinema. The idea that the most terrifying thing in the world could be a child's toy is amazing. The only thing that the film was missing for it to have ended up being considered among the great horror films of the decade is that it had been directed by John Carpenter, instead of Tom Holland, because it lacks some rhythm in some moments. @The Homies Since you like to watch horror from the 80s, I would have recommended "The thing", "The shining", and "Halloween", three true wonders, but you have already seen them. So I would say that other essential films to react to are "The changeling" by Peter Medak (great), and a masterpiece, as beautiful as it is disturbing, called "The company of wolves" by Neil Jordan.

Brad Dourif who becomes Chucky, is one of those actors you may not know but he is good is nearly everything he's in. Check out Mississippi Burning 'The Homies' if you haven't watched that one, a very good movie.

Bit of trivia, the skeleton of the Chucky doll was used in Daft Punk's Technologic music video..

The sequels are also well worth watching. Like any long-running franchise, there are ups and downs. But overall, it's worth it; each builds on the last, and they get into more backstory, and it's well worth getting into. The remake was, as I understand it, closer to the "original vision," but was not nearly as effective, in my opinion. No disrespect to that team, it was an okay horror film, but this established lore with the soul possession and stuff is just better. I have not yet had a chance to check out the series, but I've heard good things. I hope to get around to that one of these days.
